They are not giving him billions. Trump wants repayment from Ukraine's resources. That was one of the reasons for Zelensky's visit to the US. To sign the contract. Now China has cut off export of rare earth minerals to the US due to Trump's tariff war, the US is desperate to find new sources, and Ukraines just happens to have them in abundance. Ukraine is getting nothing free from the US Trump is playing both sides to try and make sure he can get at Ukraine's untapped riches. As an aside. WTF is going on at the White House lately? I wouldn't be surprised to see the Oval Office moved into a trailer home on the White House lawn soon. All class, gravitas and dignity seem to have gone out the window. President Trump, those $100 MAGA caps you are selling, really don't go well with your expensive tailored suits.

Retirement extension

Also with Wise, there is the option to send the exact amount you want in foreign currency (THB). That's what I normally do. Therefore, if the OP does use Wise, he can choose to send THB65,000 regardless of the exchange rate, and Wise will deduct accordingly. -
Thailand's New 300-Baht Tourism Tax: Aid or Hindrance?
phetphet replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
On a retirement extension. I wonder what my Private Health insurance will say if I have an accident and have to make a claim . Pretty sure on their claims forms they ask if covered by any other insurance policies. Everyone knows what insurers are like for trying to avoid paying out. Could they use this? -

Well he said it was his last time in Thailand, so problem solved. -
Once DOGE has finished uncovering all the theft and fraud they claim they are finding, will those responsible be held accountable? There must be some very large amounts being stolen. Has anyone been charged yet? I haven't seen anything mentioned in the news.

Possibly Muslim? Or is more than one wife allowed in Thailand under Buddhism? -
I think the problem with the MMR vaccination with many parents isn't so much vaccination itself as getting all three at once. I would certainly prefer to have a child vaccinated with all three vaccines separately.

He probably only renewed his passport because the government wanted ID for Sim cards. I doubt it, but wonder if he has any Thai family. -

Can Europe’s downfall be attributed to “white guilt”?
phetphet replied to hotsun's topic in Political Soapbox
It's not so much white guilt per se. Rather Left wing white guilt. Too many bleeding heart liberals. The next big UK payout will be to the descendants of slaves in the former Caribbean dependencies. A nice little earner. Why the descendants of long passed Britains have to be made accountable is beyond me. I certainly don't feel any guilt. It was nothing to do with me. I have an alibi M'Lud. I wasn't even born. -

Phuket Adventure Ends Badly for Bag-Snatching Aussies

There is a plague of this in London, with thieves on bikes, e-bikes etc., snatching belongings from people on the streets. It was big news recently because the thieves were chased all over London, and one was rammed off his bike by police in the City of London by Bank tube station in front of commuters going to work. Perhaps the Thai police should make an example of this pair to try and prevent it becoming prevalent here. -
Foreigners Face New Hurdles in Opening Thai Bank Accounts
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I was talking to an elderly couple yesterday that have recently moved to Thailand. The wife told me that they had tried to open accounts in five different banks, all without success. I asked if they had all the correct documents and she told me they had, but the banks were not willing to open accounts for foreigners due to a recent crackdown. I then suggested that perhaps they try an agent. She told me they had tried that too, but the agent wanted THB68,000 from each of them. -
I commented to my GF about the unseasonal rain we have had the last two or three days here in Samui. February and March usually dry as a bone. She told me it's the monsoon coming. I thought that was the later part of April, after Songkran. it's been nice though with the cooler night time temperatures. Like free air con.

Thailand Eyes Senior Tourists for '25, Aiming for 40 Million Visitors

In other news: Suvarnabhumi airport purchases large stock of Zimmer frames and wheelchairs to cope with expected influx of elderly tourists. This is expected to speed up their passage through immigration, and avoid large queues. -
It's not just Pai. Even here in Samui it is chaotic now. High season has always been fairly busy here, but I have never seen the roads this busy before. Journeys that once took ten minutes can now take an hour. Impossible to get a flight to or from Bangkok for days, car ferries fully booked. Uncontrolled building everywhere. So called "Beach Clubs", which seem to be the new trend are popping up everywhere. My only surprises are that there hasn't been too many power outages or water shortages. I dread what will happen when, or if they build the much talked about bridge. It might be progress, but it's not all good.
