  1. Because, just the same as other countries around the world, the US hopes (or at least did hope) to attract and perhaps keep the most talented students and researchers. It's not a one way street. US citizens also go abroad to study. Not all foreign students are on scholarships. Many pay the high fees themselves, and the reason many courses are competitive to get into, is precisely because they want the best, most likely to graduate. Weeding out those deemed not likely to pass saves money in itself. Sure, get rid of the trouble makers, and those wasting the opportunity given to them, but mass deporting students on the flimsiest of reasons will likely hurt the US ability to catch up with China. Enabling Trump's grand plan will require the best scientists, researchers etc to advance US tech. He won't manage that by limiting universities to only recruiting US students. The US is already falling behind China which has the largest number of STEM graduates at the moment. Other countries will be happy to entice unwanted talent to their shores. .

  3. Perhaps the person does not know about such things. Many Thais, especially the older ones were likely never taught physics in school.
  4. No big deal. Tops has had robots for ages. They drive you mad with their incessant advertising.
  5. I know of one place where they won't be prioritising ethnic minorities over whites. When it comes to fighting for the country in any possible future conflict. You watch them change their tune then. Only problem is they might find there won't be too many keen to help them.
  6. Now they planning the Comac C929. A wide bodied jet with expected 12,000km range , using lots of Titanium and carbon fibre in the construction to reduce weight.
  7. I stocked up the fridge the day before, and stayed home with feet up and the aircon on. Punctuated by the occasional dip in the pool. Pure bliss.
  8. Some of the so called "Sky Bars" or rooftop bars are pretty cool. Such as the ones on top of Lebua State Tower and Centara Grand above CentralWorld.. But I suppose it depends on what you are looking for when you ask best bars. Have a look here for some other examples: https://www.therooftopguide.com/rooftop-bars-in-bangkok.html
  9. What is the attraction for western societies of multiculturalism? It's obvious they will get the bad as well as the good, and life is cheaper in many of the places these immigrants come from.
  10. Looks like he was giving it the old "Come on! Who wants some?" I don't think he quite expected so many to take up his offer. At least he will have a nice holiday video to show his friends when he gets home.
  11. It's not just the supply of rare earth minerals. China is also the main processor for pretty much all rare earths. They are sent there from whichever countries they are mined, to be processed. They only have to tell other countries that if you intend to supply the US, we won't process for you. That will really gum up the works for a while.
  12. China has played the long game, and quietly diversified its trading partners, import sources, and logistics channels through Belt & Road. One only has to look at the Chancay Deep Water Port on the Pacific Coast of Peru. With that, and the Mexican Intracoastal Railway, the Panama Canal is not so important. Let's see what happens if they start dumping US Treasuries again... it affects all of us, not just Americans.
  13. Traffic enforcement Thai style. Sounds like the father is a delivery driver, so must do a lot of miles. An accident waiting to happen with that windscreen.
  14. That likely means Trump will really start applying pressure on Ukraine to sign his one sided minerals and oil deal.
  15. That sure is a lot of stock. It would take a fair while to sell. I wonder how long it had been going on.
  16. There is no longer a British culture. It has been multi cultural for a long time now.
  17. No. Quite the opposite. I no longer drink alcohol at all. I wasn't a daytime drinker, but I didn't want to end up spending all my days propping up a bar, so I decided to start exercising more. Drinking (dehydration and hangovers) don't really go together with training, so I found it very easy to stop. I wonder if susceptibility to alcoholism is in the genes of some people.
  18. If still made in China, but bought in Thailand, why would the price increase here? Unless Thailand puts tariffs on US goods, I can't see why it would happen.
  19. Look like Canada will be increasing its oil exports to other countries this year, so more competition.
  20. China has learned its lessons from Trump's first presidency. The Chinese have gradually weaned themselves off of US imports, and found alternative suppliers. They have built their own semi conductor industry, automated many factories to lower costs, and massively increased their gold holdings. No one know how much they hold officially, but they are one of the largest gold producers in the world, and they don't export it. They have even created their own BRICS payment system due to the US weaponisation of the Dollar. IMHO they are more immune to US actions than vice-versa.
  21. Some people need to grow up and learn some manners. I wonder if he has ever taken a clump playing his "jokes" on the wrong person. Unfortunately for Vitali, they don't have the THB500 and a wai get off in the Philippines, so it looks like he may end up doing some time, and he won't be popular with the local inmates.
  22. And he still isn't happy that they are increasing defence spending as he has often demanded.. Now he is upset that after his threats that he might not defend some EU countries, they are planning to buy less US arms, and spend the increased funding with EU arms manufacturers.
