I get the impression that the front air con air vents on the Seal can swing like a home air con, not sure if horizontally, vertically or both ??
If that’s true that’s a great idea !!
Or has it been around for a while and i just haven’t ventured into the price bracket, that has these luxury options, before ??
Indeed it can watch the video start at 15:40

I don't think I really need to get to 100kph in <10 secs. I think the ZS is something like 8.2-8.9. More than peppy enough.
The power is nice passing on short stretches of road, where you might not with an ICEV, since not having the performance level of the EV.
I guess we'll just keep put puttin' ... oops ... mmm mmm along in our cheap A$$ Chinese family car. Maybe buy a house or 10, with the baht saved ????
Them some silly A$$ prices ????
The title says only those under 4 seconds

I know that Tesla’s are notorious for expensive repair bills and they are the top selling EVs in UK and Europe. Just watch the repair quotes mentioned in https://youtube.com/@WhamBaamTeslacam
I haven’t experienced any increase in insurance cost, but EVs are expensive and can be expensive to repair so will have higher insurance premiums. Wonder how they compare to other premium cars like a BMW?
However, they have cheaper servicing (100% free for 8 years with the BYD Seal) much cheaper road tax. Cheaper to power especially if you have home solar.

I really liked the exterior and interior....and loved the black color as it suited the car style well. But since it's a sedan and low to the ground (especially the front end) it's not really my preferred type of car anymore....I'm more of a SUV type person.
We are a 2 car family and we already have a CRV sized SUV for taking Dogs to the vet etc.
I strongly recommend you take a test drive in the Seal, it really is a drivers’ car.
We wanted an EV with a longer electric range than our current car; faster DC charging speed, more efficiency - the BYD Seal has a drag coefficient of 0.219 compared to our brick shaped SUV. LFP batteries and V2L to support our home solar.
I agree the Seal looks great in Black, but the white really sparkles, it is a cooler colour, doesn’t show scratches as easily although it will need washing more often.
Finally, I get to choose the car (I’m paying for it at the end of the day) my wife gets to choose the colour (happy wife, happy life)

Wiring harness (video install instructions ) without impacting the car warranty?
Any camera can be wired in without impacting warranty.

The best films reflect the light, not absorb it - in the latter case, it totally negates the intended purpose as the light will be converted into heat, and because most films are a very dark color, they get very hot - think black floor vs. white floor tiles.
That freebee film might just not be that good of a deal after all.........
I decided to get 40 on the windshield, front doors 60, and 80 for all the rest, incl. roof........ compromise based on wifey's desire to go 40 all around.
6 minutes ago, digbeth said:On the roof glass, I'd say forget ceramic and go for old school metallic, unlike the windows where the metal blocks phone and gps signals, the roof doesn't need ceramic, old style metallic ting film reflects heat better and cost less than ceramic film
only maybe if you want your roof to match your window
Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Window film is not free. This is what is free

Update on buying my BYD Seal RWD LR
Forgot to mention that we asked the dealer about a trade-in. I bought a pick-up truck while we were building the house and it has sat unloved and unused for a few years now.
Asked the dealer about it - she said that they could only give us the Tent price and yes it was a joke.
Charged the battery and had it washed and polished, then stuck it on FB Market Place. We asked ฿150,000 more than the Tent offered and had a deposit within 2 hours.

Update on buying my BYD Seal RWD LR
This will be the 7th new car/truck I have purchased in Thailand, so you think I would be getting the hang of it by now - it has never gone smoothly …..until now.
I was expecting a fight to get the freebie items listed below included on the contract - no fight necessary ????
Car dealers like to give you a copy of the contract, then ask for it back when you pick up the vehicle - what the heck is that about!
“Yes you will be given the top copy of the contract”
“Yes it is yours to keep” ????
Sun protection for the glass roof included free
No dash cam but can fit what you like no warranty issues
We decided to go for 25% deposit 48 month finance. I will be borrowing approximately 1 million Baht, but I have more than that in Thai Banks - always easier to borrow money if you can show you don’t need it. My wife has never had a pay-slip so we will be relying on my income
We expected to have to drive back to the dealer to discuss finance, but they arranged for a bank girl to come us. She called us yesterday for an initial discussion and she seemed shocked I already had the amount I wanted to borrow.
Will share more later

Elon Musk has consistently shown that he makes snap decisions on emotion. His Zoom meeting with Twitter senior managers where when anyone who questioned him, he responded "You're Fired". His public spat with the owner of the monopoly owner of LIDAR at the time where they refused to meet his price, how he responded to criticism of his submarine. In the LIDAR case he was so annoyed he now champions vision-based systems and tries to argue very publicly against LIDAR yet the experts say LIDAR would stop his cars from running into objects on test.
I think this is why he doesn't already have a factory here, he felt slighted on his last trip to Chiang Rai and it will have to be a significantly advantageous business case and lots of ego
smoothingworshiping for him to open here.Reducing the price of his cars would make a big difference, I think Tesla sales are going to stall here, the Seal is a much better proposition, not least because the Model 3 cabin is cheap & cheerful and doesn't have a premium feel.
I am less keen on buying the Tesla Model 3 LR and adding the performance boost, I don't see it as affecting the 2nd hand value at all, I think buying Performance Boost is going to have 100% depreciation. You have to be very careful on expensive extras. Also, Tesla's Full Self Driving won't work properly in Thailand, most roads are far too dirty for it to pick up on markings.
100% agreed

I have to admit I find very little that that bloke says of value - he is trying to make a living on YT so he has to get clicks.......... and of course he is closet Teslafanboy, his denials notwithstanding!
No argument there, but he does post about Thailand quite a bit - just adding to the discussion

Tesla considering EV factory in Thailand, reports prime minister after meeting with Elon Musk

Electric Viking is suggesting that we should be comparing the performance Seal 3.8sec to the Tesla Model 3 LR with performance boost 3.9sec and LR RWD Seal 5.9sec to the RWD Tesla model 3 6.1sec
I think he has a point.
Price difference between a LR RWD Seal and a std range Tesla model 3 in white would cost an extra ฿364,000
Acceleration Boost update costs $2,000 ฿73,000Price difference between a AWD Seal and a LR Tesla model 3 with PB in white would cost an extra ฿522,000
Is it worth it?

I'm sure I'll manage to live with that however.
On my Seal test drive neither the sale girl nor I could find the regen switch
”Hi BYD, increase the regen level to maximum”
”Say again please”
”Sigh”

Probably just ignorance on the part of the car dealers/manufacturers
Definitely.
I contacted MG call center hoping to bypass local ignorance. When they got back to me, it was to inform me that a 7kW home charger would require a 30A PEA connection (with upgraded cables to the meter) and also a 3 phase supply. I cancelled my order for the ZS EV

25 minutes ago, JBChiangRai said:think their worry with solar (grid-tied) is that your supply is no longer 220v
I am not grid tied - I have off-grid pure sine wave inverters that produce a rock steady 220v.
My connection to PEA is switched off at the breakers. I haven’t drawn a Watt from PEA for over a year.
Now I have V2L with an 84kWh LFP battery to support my 36kWh LFP house battery, I doubt if I’ll every use PEA again ????

I’m not sure I understand what is meant by “brake blending”.
My understanding is that with one pedal, you never have to touch the brake, all regen comes from lifting off the accelerator pedal.
With BYD some of the regen comes from lifting off, the rest comes from the initial depression on the break pedal before pushing down further to engage the friction breaking.
