A 19-year-old man suffered head injuries after he stated a group of teenagers chased him and attacked him with a wooden stick, along with allegedly opening fire at him and his friends with a gun on Thursday, November 18th. 

The Nongprue Police was notified of the incident at 11:30 P.M. on the railway road in Soi Nern Plubwan in Nongprue.

Patrol police and the Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find Mr. Seksan Duenkhao, 19, waiting for medical and police assistance with injuries to his head.

Seksan told Nongprue police, “My friends and I parked three motorbikes on the side of the railway road and were just hanging out, chatting. Suddenly, a group of teenagers in a sedan pulled up and opened fire on us with a gun from their vehicle for no reason. Luckily, the gunshots missed.”

An unidentified male body was found floating in a lagoon in the Phan Thong district.

An unidentified male body was found floating in a lagoon in the Phan Thong district.

The Phan Thong Police were notified of the body Thursday afternoon (November 18th) at a lagoon in the Marp Pong sub-district.

Police and rescue workers arrived at the lagoon which is about 100 meters from a local road. The lagoon is full of water hyacinths and about three meters deep.

It took about one hour for rescue workers to pull up the male body, which had begun to decay.

A man has been arrested after reportedly shooting his wife in Banglamung yesterday (November 19th).

A man has been arrested after reportedly shooting his wife in Banglamung yesterday (November 19th).

The Banglamung Police were notified of the incident at 7:30 A.M. at a rental room in Soi Nawang 10, in the Takean Tia sub-district.

Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to discover Mrs. Nipa Prabllek who had sustained severe injuries from bullet wounds to her mouth and chin and was rushed for emergency surgery to a local hospital.

The suspect was identified by police as Mr. Wanpen Boonkerd, her husband, and had already fled the scene of the incident before Banglamung police arrived.

Thailand’s Royal Irrigation Department is advising people in eight southern provinces to brace for sudden flooding from Tuesday through Thursday next week, due to anticipated heavy rain brought by a strong cold front from China over the northern parts of Thailand.

Thailand’s Royal Irrigation Department is advising people in eight southern provinces to brace for sudden flooding from Tuesday through Thursday next week, due to anticipated heavy rain brought by a strong cold front from China over the northern parts of Thailand.

This atmospheric change will bring cold weather to the northern and north-eastern regions but will cause heavy rainfall in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Ranong and Trang, said Prapit Chanma, director-general of the Royal Irrigation Department.

He advised relevant agencies in the southern provinces to monitor rainfall around the clock closely, saying that, if the rainfall exceeds 90mm in any location, they must immediately alert local people to prepare for evacuation.

Sanan Angubolkul, president of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, told an economic forum today (Saturday) that five regional chambers of commerce have been developing measures, to be complied into a white paper, for submission to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is scheduled to meet with members of the private sector tomorrow.

He said that they expect that their proposals to be implemented by the government, which will help in accelerating economic recovery post COVID-19.

He also warned entrepreneurs to brace for increasing oil prices in the coming year which, he predicted, will increase production costs and the selling prices of all products.

Hanoi (AFP) – The first international tourists touched down in Vietnam almost 20 months after the Southeast Asian nation closed its borders to contain the coronavirus.

Two charter flights brought more than 400 South Korean and Japanese fully vaccinated passengers from Seoul and Tokyo on Thursday to the southern resort city of Nha Trang, state media reported.

The area is popular with golfers, beach lovers and scuba divers, and boasts luxury hotels.

The flights came ahead of Vietnam's plans to reopen the resort island of Phu Quoc to vaccinated foreign visitors on November 20 -- with hopes to welcome at least 5,000 travellers in coming months.

Foreign tourists seeking to enter Vietnam must show Covid-19 vaccination certificates and negative pre-departure coronavirus test results.

Manila, Philippines (CNN)Sara Duterte-Carpio, the eldest daughter of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, filed her candidacy for vice president on Saturday, according to a party statement.

Duterte-Carpio, 43, who replaced her father as mayor of Davao City and belongs to a different political party, had previously given mixed messages about running, despite opinion polls this year ranking her as the number one presidential prospect.

She will run in May 9, 2022 elections under the coalition party of Partido Federal and Lakas-CMD, alongside Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., the party's pick for President.

Earlier this week, Duterte-Carpio withdrew her candidacy for reelection as Davao mayor and resigned from her Davao-based party, Hugpong Ng Pagbabago.

The Philippines goes to the polls next year to decide positions from the President down to governors, mayors and local officials. The country elects its vice president separately from the President.

Thailand on Sunday reported 7,079 new Covid-19 cases, 47 deaths and 6,917 recoveries.

Thailand on Sunday reported 7,079 new Covid-19 cases, 47 deaths and 6,917 recoveries.

The new cases brings the total recorded in Thailand 2,018,410 since the start of the pandemic and 1,989,547 since the April 1, the start of the so-called third wave of infections. 

The death toll stands at 20,031 since the start of the pandemic and 19,942 since April 1.
