A driver has sustained severe injuries after he crashed his truck into a broken-down trailer truck on an overpass in Mueang Chonburi.

A driver has sustained severe injuries after he crashed his truck into a broken-down trailer truck on an overpass in Mueang Chonburi.
Emergency responders were notified of the accident on Wednesday (November 24th) on an overpass in the Na Pa sub-district. They arrived at the scene to find the two severely damaged vehicles having collided with each other.
The truck driver, Mr. Kanchit Anumat, 30, was stuck inside his cab. He had sustained severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital for medical aid.

Two Nigerians and three Thais have been arrested in Bangkok, allegedly possessing cocaine worth more than a million baht.
The Thai Crime Suppression Division Police reports they have arrested five drugs suspects who are:
1. Mr. Daniel (Tony), 40, a Nigerian national has been arrested at a parking area of a department store in North Phra Khanong, Wattana with 41.1 grams of cocaine.
2. Alfred (Charlie), 38, a Nigerian national has been arrested in front of a convenience store in Soi Pridi Banomyong 14 in North Phra Khanong, Wattana with 340.14 grams of cocaine.
3. Mr. Gabrial (Joe), 37, a Nigerian national has been arrested in front of a convenience store in Soi Pridi Banomyong 14 in North Phra Khanong, Wattana with 6 grams of cocaine.
4. Ms. Kanyarat (O), 34, a Thai national has been arrested at a restaurant in a department store in Thong Lor, Wattana with 17.4 grams of Cociane.
5. Mr. Ausadawut, 25, a Thai national has been arrested at a restaurant in a department store in Thong Lor, Wattana with 65 grams of Cocaine.
The CSD Police said these Nigerian suspects smuggled drugs when they entered Thailand with the goal of setting up complex drug-smuggling networks in the country. They allegedly sold the drugs to affluent and famous people.

Reward offered for information on shooting of SAO election candidate in Nakhon Si Thammarat
A 50,000 baht reward has been offered to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrests of the two perpetrators of the shooting on Friday of a candidate in the Kuan Chum sub-district administrative organization (SAO) chief election in Thailand’s southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat.

A 50,000 baht reward has been offered to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrests of the two perpetrators of the shooting on Friday of a candidate in the Kuan Chum sub-district administrative organization (SAO) chief election in Thailand’s southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat.
The reward is being offered by Democrat MP for the southern province, Chaichana Detdecho. The cash was received by Pol Maj-Gen Somchai Suetortrakul, commander of the provincial police.
The candidate, Chaiyuth Kaewboonthong, sustained serious injuries when he was shot by two men riding a motorcycle, as he was campaigning ahead of the election on Sunday.
The victim, riding his motorcycle, plunged into a roadside drain and was rushed to Ronpiboon district hospital by villagers.

SRT promises public hearing over fate of Bangkok’s iconic Hua Lamphong railway station
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT), the national rail service operator, has given an assurance that it will not dismantle the decades-old Hua Lamphong rail terminal and will hold a public hearing, so all stakeholders can air their views on its future.

The SRT’s public relations director, Aekkarat Sri-arayanphong, said today that Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob has ordered the SRT to hold the public hearing.
The SET plans to end all remaining services in and out of the old station in the middle of next month, following the opening of the new Bang Sue grand station, which is to be the main rail hub.
According to the Transport Ministry, ending all rail services at Hua Lamphong will ease traffic congestion in Bangkok, currently caused by the closure of roads at all rail crossings every time a train passes.

Thailand bans arrivals from 8 African countries as a precaution against new COVID-19 variant Omicron
The Thai government has imposed a total ban on arrivals from eight African countries, effective today (Saturday), and those who already have permission to enter the country will be subject to quarantine for 14 days from Sunday.

The Thai government has imposed a total ban on arrivals from eight African countries, effective today (Saturday), and those who already have permission to enter the country will be subject to quarantine for 14 days from Sunday.
The countries are Botswana, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Additionally, nationals from these countries, where the new coronavirus variant known as Omicron has been found or who are at risk of spreading it, will not be allowed to apply to enter Thailand, effective today. Those already granted permission to enter Thailand must arrive before December 15th and will be subject to state quarantine for 14 days and three COVID-19 tests.
Entry via the “Test and Go” or “sandbox” programs is not permitted.
The immediate action by the Public Health Ministry follows a statement by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha via Facebook this morning, saying that he is ready to order the immediate restriction of travel to and from any country where the new coronavirus variant is spreading.

"The world comes to Pattaya" as details of huge new beachside development are revealed
The supposed demise of Pattaya may be some way off, that's if plans announced this week for a huge new beachside development are anything to go by.
A post on Facebook from "TeeSuckHuaNon" gave details of a new project for Pattaya beach - Aquatique District Pattaya.
The 100 billion baht project will be next to the Hard Rock Hotel near Central Festival between Beach Road and 2nd Road.
Among five major hotels it features not one but two Marriotts - one with a convention center.
Among what the poster called "magnets" are a huge shopping mall, Aquaria - an aquarium-cum-zoo - and Legoland and Peppa Pig theme parks for the kids.
Finally there will be a "Wellness Center".
The poster said that the whole world was coming to Pattaya with this development.
Maybe it's a sign of the post pandemic rebranding of the resort, notes ASEAN NOW.

Thailand on Sunday (Nov 21) reported 7,006 new COVID-19 cases, 7,591 recoveries and 29 deaths.
Sunday's cases bring the total number of COVID-19 cases in Thailand since the start of the pandemic to 2,064,581 and 2,035,718 since April 1, the start of the so-called third wave.
Thailand's death toll stands at 20,387 since the start of the pandemic and 20,293 since April 1.
Due to the continuing decline of COVID-19 cases in Thailand in recent months, officials on Friday said they will consider a proposal to reopen bars, pubs and other nighttime venues earlier than planned.
Previously, Thailand's CCSA had said it would be January 16 before bars and clubs would be able to open.
However, on Friday the secretary general of the National Security Council Supot Malaniyom said that a proposal will be considered next week that could see bars given the green light to open earlier than scheduled - although an actual date for reopening has not yet been announced.
Meanwhile, the declining number of new cases has coincided with Thailand's vaccination rollout which after getting off to a slow start, has been rapid in recent months.
On Friday the Health Ministry revealed that 65% of people in Thailand had now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 53% have received two doses.

A Japanese diving instructor who was found dead on Koh Tao 17 years ago was not murdered, police have said.
The body of Yoshie Sazawa was found at the house she rented in Ban Mae Hat.
But police have said there was no evidence of foul play.
Officers working on the case at the time of the Yoshie's death found a note which they said was written by her where wrote a goodbye to her parents.
Police said that because of this they believed Yoshie's death was the result of suicide.
The case was in the news again this week after claims Yoshie was murdered were posted on the Koh Tao Death Island Facebook page.
The page regularly posts about high profile cases which have happened on Koh Tao, even running sponsored advertising campaigns on Facebook in a bid to further increase its reach.
However, Pol Maj. Gen. Satit Ponpinit, commander of Surat Thani Provincial Police told Daily News that the Facebook page is managed by a group of foreigners intent on causing damage to the image of Thailand.

PHUKET: Mueanprae Boonlom, Deputy Chief of the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO), has gone public to assure parents that new COVID infections among staff and children found at Phuket schools since Nov 1 have come from family members, not new clusters at the schools.

PHUKET: Mueanprae Boonlom, Deputy Chief of the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO), has gone public to assure parents that new COVID infections among staff and children found at Phuket schools since Nov 1 have come from family members, not new clusters at the schools.
“When on-site classes resumed on Nov 1, there were no new infections,” Dr Mueanprae, who previously served as patong Hospital Director and as Acting PPHO Chief before current chief Dr Kusak Kiattikoon arrived, explained in a short video posted online.
“Since school classes resumed, the infections have come from family members. There have been no outbreaks at the schools, which have been enforcing strict measures since the reopening of classes on site,” she said.

PHUKET: National Ombudsman Assoc Prof Issari Hunsajaroonroj has instructed the Phuket office of the Highways Department to expedite its project to make the road over Kata Hill, from Chalong to Kata, safer following the outside lane collapsing in October last year.

Assoc Prof Issari inspected the state of the road yesterday (Nov 19), accompanied by Phuket Highways Office Chief Samak Luedwonghat and his superior Yasin Chonpatathip, Director of the Office of Highways Region 17, along with Suebpong Paisanwattana, Director of the Office of Safety Administration.
Phuket Highways Office Chief Mr Samak in April this year assured motorists that the road is safe to use, despite the westbound section of the road being reduced to one lane.

Rare dolphin found dead in Chonburi sea

A bottlenose dolphin was found dead in the sea in Mueang Chonburi earlier this week.
Officials from the Marine and Coastal Resource 2 Chonburi team were notified of the dead dolphin on Thursday (November 25th) in the Bang Sai sub-district.
They arrived at a bridge near the sea to find a fisherman, Mr. Chaiyaphon Kaemasiri, 37, standing with the dead dolphin on the bridge.
Chaiyaphon told TPN media, “I was sitting on the bridge which is about 100 meters into the sea when I saw the dead dolphin floating in the water. I went down into the sea on my boat and pulled it up, and then called authorities for assistance.”
