  1. So, service at Chevy = substandard + inferior spare parts. cheesy.gif

Well, Chev aren't pulling the purse strings on a crash repair - the insurance company is.. so could be a case of misdirected anger.

That's not to say that Chev service levels are fantastic - in the sub-4M price range brands, it's pretty much luck of draw.

It's like that with Honda as well. I've heard of people having a terrible experience at some Honda dealers. Before I bought my Cruze I researched the dealer first, from other thai customers. My dealer has been good to me. They have someone who speaks English and she waits for me if I have to go.

  2. Sounds like typical Thai.

She bought a nice brand new car. She smashed it. it was repaired but she thought it wasn't as pretty as when she bought it so she wanted a new one. The manager told her "yea right". She said "I'm the police. You give me new car". He said "ammmm. No". So she got angry, called the press and made a big scene and started accusing the dealer of this that and the other.

The manager of the dealer should have her arrested and sue her.

She showed up in her uniform but covered her face. If she was so right, show up in your civilian clothes and let us see who you are. If you're so right.

Not to mention she should be fired immediately.

  3. Saw the end bit on TV of a story on the morning Thai news today about a very angry lady Cruze customer taking her car back to the dealership, rounding up a lot of news crews, and taking a hammer to the windscreen (always seems a bit of a cop out to smash the windscreen, why not do the bodywork?!). She was then mouthing off something chronic at the sales staff who looked stunned and afraid. Caught the story too late to work out whether it was an issue with the dealership damaging her car, or an issue with the car itself. Anyone see it?

To answer my own request, here is the story:

    http://www.thaivisa....evrolet-dealer/

Moral of the story, don't piss off a Cruze owner, especially not one who is armed!

You might want to cross her off your Cruze club member list, thaicruze.

Well, actually seems to be the case against owning a Cruze!

We understand that since the car first went for repair at the Center in July, the pair have encountered customer service issues including claims that sub-standard workmanship and spare parts were used to repair damage caused to the vehicle by the female officer who was involved in a minor road accident.

So, service at Chevy = substandard + inferior spare parts. cheesy.gif

That's a claim by some angry customer.

She bought a brand new Cruze. Smashed it and then protested because the repair didn't meet her standards.

Sorry but the story is full of holes. We really don't know what happened other than some nutcase showed up at a dealer and caused trouble.

  4. The date to pick up your new extension is usually 30 days from the date your current extension expires.

Makes no difference when you apply.

So if you apply 30 days early the under consideration date will be 60 days.

Has been like that for ages.

I've been doing this for 8 years. Everytime is the same thing

    Expires on Oct. 3

I go Sept 3 to apply

I get a stamp to come back Oct 2 or Oct 3

I get my stamp. I give to my school my school does the WP.

    Everytime is like that.

    This year.

    Go sept 3.

Get a stamp to come back Nov. 2.

First time that has ever happened to me. I've never had to wait 2 months for a stamp. It ha always been 30 days.

  5. Hmm. Mine are quiet all the way. Not sure which ones they put in there. It was late. My wife couldn't take it anymore and I just told them to get the best they had. It was 1,900 baht for the front + 1,800 baht for the back.

My wife spoke to the guy. He said that Bendix for my car had a low - medium one and another one for race cars. He was selling me the middle one.

He was talking to a woman who knows nothing about it. So. I think they gave me Titanium Metal Kings. If you are talking about a slight grunt when you come to a stop, I hear it too. I figure it'll go away in time.

  6. ^They will be, but it's a trade off and better braking is more important but I hope you bedded them in properly or you'll glaze the rotors and soon be posting a thread like Johanns..

TC actually those rotors are not shiny (though I know what you mean) and that's how they're supposed to be. Actually it crossed my mind a few days ago but been too busy to post them, I have some old rotors and pads here that were done all wrong and I plan to post up the pictures for informational purposes but in the other thread, now that you've posted this one I may post them in both.

Good to note you got good service from B-Quik as well..

It's a B-Quick in a TESCO Lotus. I used to bring my City there for tires and the occasional oil change. They are good and just do their job. No BS.

They quoted me 5,400 for everything, turned out to be 4,600 in the end.

I should add, I could move the brake in the back on the inside with my hand. clank clank. I showed it to the chevy dealer. they said "it's normal". Now, it doesn't move. Brakes aren't supposed to move.

  7. I think they are Metal King Ti

I asked the guy for the best they had. and they are WAY better than the ones GM Thailand puts on there.

The pads are these here by looking at the numbers on it (DB1990).

    http://www.bendix.co...ar-brakes/20100

my other pads, even after just 23,000 really lost a lot of "feel". When I test drove the car it was much better. But the Bendix are better than when I test drove it.

going over heavy bumps, if i roll down the window i can hear some rattle, but it isn't excessive and you can't really hear it with the windows up and the AC on.

the clunk that developed over the last 3 weeks has gone.

I'm taking it easy and not breaking hard. I drive 80-90 km a day so I should be able to break them in in a week or so.

I think Chevy Thailand is using crap cheap pads.

  8. So, I decided to go to B-Quick and skip the dealer and get new pads.

They installed Bendix pads and they are good. Braking is much better now. The OEM pads were giving excessive rattle and a clunk when braking after 23,000km.

Good now. and brakes MUCH better than when it was new.

    total 4,600 (resurface rotor included).

and now them rotors is shiny

  9. And BTW, Chevy Cruze Thailand is built by GM Thailand not Daewoo or Holden. Just for all of you calling it a daewoo. The Cruze is built at a plant in Rayong, just like Ford Focus. Probably next door to each other.

This is a picture of the Cruze being built in Rayong

    0.jpg

Same goes for the Captiva, the Colorado, now the Sonic as well

    captiva-drive-off-line.jpg

    Crap noisy brake pads? Yes

    Cheap Maxxis tires? Sure

    Shit Daewoo? No.

The first 2 can be fixed at the local B-Quick.

Recall for just over 400,000 Cruze's for oils collecting in a pan in the below the engine that could cause a fire. Did the recall include the Cruze built by GM Thailand? NOPE. Did it include Cruzes built in Ohio? YEP!

I may have a bit of brake noise but at least my trusty Thai Cruze isn't catching on fire.

It isn't accelerating by itself like a Prius or having the Driveshaft recalled like the 2012 overpriced Civic.

After I get some decent brake pads on there this weekend I'll look into 18 inchers

    tn_M11%20Cruze%20Z%20Spec%20concept.jpg

Just like that one and all you bitches are going to be pissing in your pants.

  10. Thaicruze, if it is for that, I also see plenty of Pajero Sport around... But only in BKK. laugh.png Which is to say the feeble reliability of this finding (could not even distinguish between the year of production just by the sight of it).

And I hardly see any Cruze around. So, I have some reservations on "selling like hotcakes".

Regarding the "loss in power", can you explain better what you mean? How do you observe that? Re. fuel economy, do you drive in the same manner? Have you been more frantic on the pedal since you bought it?

I was talking about my little City.

Well, as far as the Cruze selling, I saw 5 on my 10 minute drive to my wife's school. and 2 more on my way home.

  11. That's it isn't it.. You buy what gets what you need to get done...done... I think the reason why I like it is because it is exactly what I needed which is why I bought it. Someone may need a big 15" gaming rig, so for that person this 11" Air would probably suck.

  12. I don't think I'll keep this car past 160,000 - 180,000 or so. As soon as the fuel economy starts to go, I'm going to look for a new one. At 5 1/2 years my City got 1 day less of fuel and I was driving less than when it was new.

may i assume you are not an automotive engineer? whistling.gif

I noticed 2 things as my car got older (even though I serviced it every 10,000 km).

Fuel economy was worse and the engine seemed to have lost horse power. Which seemed like a lot since the car only had 88hp to begin with.

And here I am from my Cruze looking at another Cruze.

Them things is selling like hotcakes!

  13. Made the switch in feb also to an Air, compared to the pc it simply rocks.

Faster more user friendly , fisher price for adults .

I use laptops at least 5 hrs most days for work, so for me it was a big deal after a month getting used to some of the basic differences would take a lot to go back to my acer

I found the transition a non-issue to be honest. So, if anyone is scared of switching to Mac because you won't get used to it, it's really not an issue. It's almost like using a smart phone.

  14. I appreciate the info, and I am an "inbetweener", as I have almost always been a PC user, but bought the ipad 3 when it came out earlier this year.

Using an android phone, when the iphone 5 didn't come out last year, I just pulled the trigger on something with a bigger screen (Galaxy Nexus).

But the new iphone will supposedly have a 4" screen.

So as I say, I am somewhat in the middle.

I think it would be cool if there was a laptop where the screen could be detached and used wirelessly apart from the keyboard and CPU. I saw an article about something similar but those were mostly combination notebooks with touchpads, though some of them had screens that were much more adjustable. What made me think of this is my wireless keyboard case for my ipad, the keyboard can come out of the case to be used further away, while the ipad itself is propped up in the case.

But if the CPU etc. were left with the keyboard part, I would think the touch screen could be even lighter, n'est ce pas?

    OK just rambling here!

I don't know. Some of those detachable screen laptops came out, but to be honest, the 11" air I have is as big as a tablet and the trackpad is so good is better than poking at a screen.
