    1. Warranty is world wide.
    2. The warranty doesn't cover misuse and abuse.
    3. The argument that "we've dropped the other one and there's nothing wrong with that one" doesn't really matter.
    4. Apple first inspects physical damage. If they ask whether you dropped it and you say "YES", that's all you need to say.
    5. No apple store anywhere in the world will fix it under watrranty after that. It has nothing to do with Thailand.
    6. IF the repair guy inspect the iPad and he then determines that the damage to the iPad did not cause the issue, then they will fix it without charging you anything. You just have to wait.

This is what will happen anywhere. Take a look at this. Eventually the guy got the repair fixed under warranty. This is the Official Apple Store in Sydney, Australia. All because they saw a ding on the side and the "genius" said it may be because he "dropped it". The guy said he didn't drop it, but I think the guy actually dropped it and lied. Anyway, apple hooked him up in the end.

FFW to 6:00 to skip the BS.

Basically, you don't listen to the "geniuses". They're not qualified to tell you what caused the issue. That's why they send it off to the Tech. It is the Tech that will say, YES covered or NOT covered. Just ignore the store monkeys and let them send it off.

  1. and yes. All admins in the world need to re-do their sites to be compatible with all browsers and mobile devices, at least all the main ones. It's their job.

Yes this sums up what I am saying

    Yet why?

Last post for me & as I said before in another post/thread it is not a big deal for me

as everything works fine in the computers "I" use

But it is a bit of a problem for the wife who uses Apple products & updated to IOS6

What do you mean why? Because technology changes. If Apple decides not to allow Flash to be installed on their computers, then every admin in the world needs to make some changes to their site if they use flash. It's YOUR job as a web master to follow the current technologies.

Do you really expect a website developed 20 years ago to stay the same?

In this case, we aren't talking about redoing a site. We are talking about 5 minutes work, tops. would work with all devices, including iOS 6. Forums that have the tag have no problem. Why ThaiVisa chose [media] who knows.

anyway. the answer is, the iPad is the best selling tablet in the world. If this forum wants to be compatible, then change the [media] tag. It'll take a few minutes.

  2. Times change. Things change. Things get upgraded. You're in technology if you want to run a forum.

Fact is, iOS 6 is here. Things are updated. Change the stupid tag to and bingo, it works. It's up to the forum Admin to support iOS users.

Yes but it seems all the rest are doing fine. They need to reinvent themselves to suit IOS6?

That is silly no? It is like Betamax demanding all video players play Beta as well as VHS

It does not matter ultimately which was even better as many claimed Beta was. The world chooses

Other can either hop on board or be left out.

The "It's up to the forum Admin to support iOS users." is silly. All Admins the world over need to re-do their sites because IOS6 changed?

    That does not compute wink.png

oh come on! They don't have to redo anything or reinvent anything. You're being a drama queen now. All they have to do is add a tag.

The admin logs in. Opens this page

    2yw8fag.jpg

    adds the code and done.

and yes. All admins in the world need to re-do their sites to be compatible with all browsers and mobile devices, at least all the main ones. It's their job.

iOS 6 safari won't support the [media] tag. Period. Now ThaiVisa needs to take 5 minutes and put the code that works.

  3. this [media] tag isn't good.

    Yes understood but....

1- It is not just TV forum is it?

2- It all worked fine on IOS5

This reinventing the wheel served no purpose.

    Just saying,

Sometimes you need to leave well enough alone & not try to be so different that you cannot interact with

the rest of the computing world.

Of course at some point someone like Google etc. will introduce an app that automatically grabs these links & plays them

in IOS6. It is sad but true. Or perhaps Apple will introduce a patch? I don't know.

But until then folks like my wife will no longer see the videos her friends post on sites like FB or Pantip

unless of course the coding is entered in the one way that does show them

Sadly they use to show with either link.

Lastly I cannot help but notice many Apple users take any constructive criticism as a slight against Apple.

It is not. Any good OS has users giving feedback in the hopes that bugs will be sorted.

Times change. Things change. Things get upgraded. You're in technology if you want to run a forum.

Fact is, iOS 6 is here. Things are updated. Change the stupid tag to and bingo, it works. It's up to the forum Admin to support iOS users.

  4. this [media] tag isn't good.

I just showed you it works on other forums with the [media] tag. Why can't the admin in Thai Visa make it a tag instead of a [media] tag?

  5. Well, iOS 6 doesn't have a YouTube app, you have to download the official one. But, on my iphone i have no issue with youtube videos being posted on Facebook, it just goes to YouTube mobile.

Someone posted this on my facebook. I click on it, this is what i get

    E41D9099-2E28-4738-BC4B-69375EE4E626-6276-000001CEA732A23B.jpg

  6. I have Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Flash. For cleaners I have ccleaner. I left it on last night. Was nice to have it instantly on this morning connected to my iPhone's hotspot.

I'll try it like this for a while. This is instant on and off so I don't see the point in shutting it down. Powering up takes 12 seconds anyway. I'll leave it on.

Anyway. I'm a new user. I've had this maybe 3 or 4 weeks so, I'm getting used to it. The hardest thing is to realize you just USE the computer. Just use it. Don't worry about anti viruses, or registry whatever. I use Ccleaner to clean out temporary files from the internet basically. but i think i'm about to get rid of that too.

    ......

as a matter of fact, i just dumped it. Done. I need to really let go of Windows. Safari emptied the history weekly, so what am I using that for? It's just years and years of Windows maintenance.

OK. Close the lid. Use the computer. Enjoy. Weird..

  7. I was thinking, this thing is almost like a tablet (Air 11"). If you don't shut it down, have any of you had issues with your Macbook for not shutting it down?

My guess is, except for installing updates that require a restart, I can leave my Air on all the time. Unless I know I wont use it for a week or so, or go on vacation. That sort of thing.

  8. I know some view farangs as ATM's, but my case they have been extorting money from my wife (to be) long before i came on the scene. The MIL is a basket case, using manipulation, guilt, verbal abuse in order to get what she wants (though I appreciate she could be suffering from some vague mental illness). The brother wants to be a successful business owner, and is in the midst of dragging the whole clan down with him. Just extorted 200K from my wife that has evaporated and is apparently wanting to sell some family land.....familar story no doubt.

Falangs deserve everything they get. You can't be serious you're marrying this person.

and no, your story doesn't sound familiar. my wife's family gave us everything, including our house. They just ask me to drive them to funerals and other things on the weekend. That's about it.

  9. I am using the paid version of AVG, 3 licences and have had no problems at all with any upgrade.

As for MSE, It is good, but has no browser integration, which is the reason I didnt use it. The best firewall/protection I ever had was Sygate personal firewall but they got bought out a long time ago and discontinued.

For the relatively small asking price I would recommend paying for a full version of any AV/firewall software.

It scans everything coming into the computer. It's the only protection I have in my wife's laptop and in every single computer in my computer lab. all virus free.

If you have a cracked version of Windows, then I can't promise anything.

It's silly that people have to waste their time on this. Installing anti malware, firewalls, anti virus, and this and the other thing. Some people have 2 or 3 virus protection stuff going. It's ridiculous.

I bought my Mac. Turned it on and started enjoying it. I don't care about any of this crap.

  10. Because Apple still believes in the iPod paradigm. They've held on to this since before the iPhone.

You're saying, why do I need to set everything in iTunes?

Because Apple believed the iPod/iPhone is just a device to take your media with you, but the center of your "digital hub" is and always will be your computer.

iTunes is your main focus. The iPod/iPhone is just a secondary device to hold the media, but the center of everything is iTunes and your computer.

I guess you could just use the iPhone only. Update through wifi. Let the App Store keep a history of your apps. Let iCloud keep your info. Let iTunes on your iPhone keep a history of purchased music.

If you do everything through their own software then you don't need to ever plug it into a computer.

If you just want to be able to copy and paste things, then you need a Blakberry or an android phone.

  11. ^

Maybe she should open iTunes herself? ALl you do is drag the music and click SYNC. That's not difficult.

Yeah if that was the sum total of the problems then true.

It is a bit different when you have 3 devices & do not want the same on all three.

Or even if you want something just on the device but not on Itunes

Like when you download something directly to just one of the devices

At that point the next time Itunes sees it & you are given the choice of

syncing it to Itunes or they will delete it from the device.

Some choice smile.png.....Why not have the do nothing at all choice & leave where we (the owner of the device )

dang well chose to have it? smile.png

Mai bpen Rai it is all good....just not intuitive nor easy as other OS's freedom to choose wise.

Some day Apple should just rethink it.

Just tell her to hold down SHIFT and choose her library. When you sync, hold down SHIFT and choose yours. (alt in the Mac.)

    ScreenShot2012-10-02at71755PM.png

I don't see how this is difficult.
