Just spoke with a Thai Triton owner.
He says everything is fine. Except that when he goes on the highway at highway speeds, it feels like the car is floating. Doesn't feel planted at all.
Is this common to all Pickups?
Any New Dmax owners? Does the new Dmax suffer from this also?
-
Like the 750Li BMW.
US = around $90,000
TH = around $520,000
I mean, come on...
-
^
Higher!? That's the understatement of the year. I can take a little higher, but $40,000 US dollars over the price is a bit much. How much is a Boxter? That's like $150,000 over the price.
Ridiculous.
The top for anyone should be 1.2 million. That's the cut-off for me.

the Brio hatch is probably the worst car Honda has ever made. 2nd place goes to the City ZX design. Probably the ugliest.

I hope they dump that beige/brown interior too, and make something more competitive with the swift.
I think the problem isn't simply with the colour, it's with the awful quality hard hollow plastics.
Yes. it's the 2005 City I bought.
-
Is this it?
If that's it, then they just took my Honda City from 2005 and renamed it the BRIO. Then made a Civic and called the the NEW City, then took the Civic and made another City with a bigger engine, but ECO mode.
This lineup is very confusing.
-
There's a running Honda AD in Thai newspapers with all their models, then a blacked out silhouette of what they call a "mystery 1.2L" car. What's that?
-
I thought maybe it could be the same at 15,000, but no. here it is

10,000 KM

It's hard to negotiate anyway. cash or not.
Unless you want to crash your car at night, get 40% tint and put these back there
-
Cruze service is every 15,000KM. It's in the service book.

Where do you guys get the money to pay for a 2 million baht car?
Paying that much for a car in Thailand is insane, unless you're filthy rich.
2 million. A VW Beetle here is 2 million. that's $65,000 for a $20,000 car. If you're paying 2+ Million baht for a car, you're paying a 70% Idiot Tax.

I'm hearing many talk about the BT-50. I'll have a look.
I like the DMax a lot, but I keep hearing DMax ad Colorado in the same sentence every time. If I sell the Chevy I'd rather not go back to Chevy.
For someone who was apparently such a defender of Chevy, that seems to say something about your car... Why not another Chevy as they are the "creme de la creme" (at least in your words)?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Thaivisa Connect App
Well, I don't use phrases like "creme de la creme". I have never typed that, but if you can find the quote link it.
Also, I never really defended Chevy. All I said was that I liked the Cruze. Also, that you guys said my Cruze would fall apart in a year and that nobody would buy it. Now, the Cruze is everywhere on the road and my car didn't fall apart. That's all I said.
Other Chevy cars I don't like, and I've also said I don't like Chevy trucks. Especially the new Trailblazer. I've said it looks cheap and smells of cheap plastic inside. Also, the Captiva still looks like a Zafira inside.
The only Chevy cars worth buying for me would be Cruze and the 5 door Sonic (hate the back of the 4 door Sonic).
But now that the new Ford Focus is out, the Cruze isn't that nice.

If you want GPS in a Triton, either pressure the dealer to throw in a Garmin (or wait until they do another factory promotion that includes one standard), or if getting a 'plus' model with the Alpine touchscreen, add a Kamaz or Alpine navi black box to it...
I bought a Garmin Nuvi for 4000B which I keep in the glove box and use on the passenger seat. Seems to work fine.
The Alpine player supplied with the Triton is great for CDs (and MP3s on CD/DVD), with very good sound, but it has no USB socket and the radio reception is crap. USB socket can be added, at a modest cost.
Hmmmmm. That may be a deal breaker. Why don't cars come with USB standard?
When I was car shopping. The Mazda 3 came with NO USB, but the cheap Mazda 2 did. Craziness.
BT-50. 874,000. Has USB. 17" rims. I like that. And she likes the lights.
Not too sure about the rest though.

come to think of it... after buying a pick-up will you change your TV handle to ThaiPickUp?
That may be 3 years away.
-
No. She doesn't care about that. She's been in pickups and says the ride is crap and they're loud. I'm trying to convince her to test drive a nice one, but I want to know which will give the nicest ride (for a pickup).
of course your wife is wrong because the ride in a pick-up is not only crap but crap²! why people buy pick-ups when they don't have to transport heavy loads every day is beyond my grasp. but then... to each his own.
what happened to the 20" wheels for the "Croose"? and why would you sell it now after the huge investment in new brake pads?
4,000 baht is a huge investment??
I spend half that on a nice dinner and a movie.

Ah. The White Pearl Triton says something. Don't know what it says though
Oh got it. It says you can add it yourself later.

Hi-Lander 2.5 VGS Z?
VCross 2.5 VGS L?
Which would you rather?
The Hilander Prestige comes with Navigation. 896,000. That's the ticket if you want to get my wife into one of these.
Didn't see Triton with Navigation option. But the site is all in Thai so who knows.
I don't think I need 4WD. Just need it to be tall.
-
What's the difference between a hi-lander and a VCross? Is it that the vCross is 4x4? Is it taller? I don't get it.
Can't get in the website because they insist on making car sites in Flash.

If you really need a pickup, and can deal with the poorer ride quality, the BT-50 seems a little more compliant over the bumps than the Ranger, which only just edges out the D-Max, which feels a tad softer than the Colorado, which is very noticeably better than a Triton or Hilux, which both make the Navara feel very stiff
If you're just wanting something big and relatively cheap, and don't care about running costs, get the base PJS 2.4L gasoline 5MT for 915K - it's got about the same city manoeuvrability as the previous gen Civic, and better ride quality and noise suppression than a current gen Accord (though admittedly, that's not hard), and will far exceed any Thai market pickup truck on these criteria...
Was looking at it. What gasoline do you put in there? What's the worst case fuel economy?
If the diesel gets 11 km/l combined and the gasoline is worse then I wouldn't get it. The one I would want us the 2.5 GLS which is 1,014,000. Yikes.
The Triton White Pearl - 845,000

Well, floods were also the reason I decided to have a SUV... Floods and also the risk incurred when you drive a sedan compared to a smaller car.
It is interesting to read "buyer's remorse" (but I'll admire the honesty on your side!) when you have been adamant in defense of the Cruze.
It is true that you do not put the blame as much on the car's mechanical qualities, but rather on its being inadapted for your style of life.
As for me, I have to confess having hesitated very strongly in favor of the Isuzu pickup... Which is probably excellent in itself. In the end, living in city, not having to haul stuff around, and having a dog, I preferred getting a SUV, and one that was strong and made for Thai roads. The pickup body means that I get to enjoy the structural strength of the pickup, while having more comfort available for passengers - although, the electronics of an Isuzu D-Max beat by far those of a PJS.
Just that it's not a big pile of Junk. The only 1 issue I have with the cruze is a rear left noisy brake. Dealer has been working on fixing it.
Other than that, we like it. Looks nice. Hasn't failed or anything. It's pretty quiet.
Negatives are that I'm always worrying about it. Getting dinged and scratched and and obsessing about every little noise.
We want something bigger. Taller. And something that I can take anywhere and not be worried about it so much. Also that odd time when I say "dam_n. I wish we had a truck".
All we would need is a lid for the bed. Maybe a net.
Or take a longer loan and get a Pajero. But I really like the D-Max. Just that when we were looking for cars, she said definitely NO to pickups.
I'm trying to convince her to test drive the D-Max or the Triton. I just think she's never been inside a new model pickup.
Being a girl, we were discussing how much I hate the BT-50's look, but alas, she likes it. I would do a BT-50 even if I don't like it if she can put up with it.
I think the best bet would be to look at a Triton. At least it looks similar to a Pajero Sport. And she's a girl. They don't know anything about coil vs leaf springs.
Does the Triton Plus White Pearl come with Leather Seats?

Great feedback fellas. And I appreciate the links.
I think I'll take Harrry's suggestion and register, and keep the download in a file for awhile until it's had time to digest with more users in the general population.
Windows 7 has not given me any immediate reasons to want to replace it.
Careful. I think you have to erase everything to uninstall that.
What Is The Mystery 1.2L Honda?

It's the same car.
Same stuff.
Feels exactly the same inside
Same vtec engine
Probably the same 7 speed CVT.
No airbags. All plastic.
It's the same car basically.
