Armed Man Robs Village Shop, Police Arrive Hours After Report
impulse replied to Georgealbert's topic in Isaan News
Need a lot more context here to truly understand the situation. Reading the OP conjures up images of a Mayberry where Otis checks himself in and out of the drunk tank, Andy the sheriff doesn't carry a gun, doesn't allow Barney Fife the deputy to load any bullets in his, and the stores are on the honor system because the shopkeepers don't sit in the shop all the time. I suspect the cops know the guy quite well and figured there's no real emergency. They'll handle it the way they handle stuff in a small town. -
Trump Goes After Apple and Others Dodging Taxes in Ireland
impulse replied to placeholder's topic in Political Soapbox
On this one, we agree. Unless there is a worldwide minimum tax agreement, raising the US corporate income tax rate in the USA will only create work for Int'l tax attorneys as the corporations offshore their profits. Edit: Or there need to be other consequences when US companies shift their profit outside the USA by IP and transfer pricing shenanigans. I've worked for a few companies that had shell corporations in low tax countries to which we shifted our taxable income. It's amazing how complex it gets. And it gets even dodgier when the shareholders in the different entities aren't the same, shafting the little guy shareholders, too. -
ChatGPT agrees that more COVID vaccination --> more cases
impulse replied to Red Phoenix's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
I don't know about the science, but I'd give almost anything to go back and undo my 2nd Pfizer. My quality of life took a nosedive the next day and hasn't recovered. And no. It was not a coincidence. -

The Neo-Imperialist was Serious About Stealing Greenland

Wow. Another one accusing Trump of what he hasn't done. -
There are programs in place to legally import as many strawberry pickers as they need. There always have been. Who won't then be a $36K a year burden on the taxpayers. They come in, do their work, then go home. The legal migrant workers who aren't showing up for work are victims of lefty fear mongering. The illegal ones? Getting them to leave is worth paying a little more for strawberries. We'll make it up by not paying hotel bills and free healthcare. To the tune of hundreds of $$ billions a year. Trump didn't bring on this upset in the system. He's cleaning up the mess that Harris/Biden left us, hoping to turn states perpetually Blue.

Two Teenage Girls Killed in Collision in Sattahip
impulse replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
There's plenty of blame to go around. But my takeaway is that the driver with 2 tons of steel and seatbelts walked away with minor, if any, injuries. -
Please, please, please, Lord. Let the lefties keep denigrating half the population. It worked so well for HRC and Kamala. If they stick to that strategy, we may never see another Dem in the White House.

€100,000 reward offered in Dutchman’s mysterious death in Phuket
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
There's a Phuket cop or 3 that's looking at that number (3.5 mil) and their memory is clearing. And they know where the evidence is buried. -
Going back to Rummy in 2001, the day before 9/11 announcing that $4 trillion was unaccounted for, that's over 20 years of not being able to handle money. (And it didn't start or end with Rumsfeld) It's time to do something different, and I'm willing to give Hegseth a chance. He doesn't need to be an audit and money guru. He needs to know who he can trust to be the guru who's going to hire a team of competent people. And I doubt that guru is even going to come with a military background. Finance isn't what they teach...

If all that is true, doesn't that indicate we need different people in there?

You must not have even read the Hur or the House reports. There's plenty in there. But up until January 21, they would have needed the votes to impeach him in order to prosecute a sitting president. And the Dems wouldn't have voted for impeachment even with videos of Biden walking across the White House lawn with a severed head in one hand and a bloody machete in the other.

Immigration counter at the airport for a reentry visa
impulse replied to kickstart's topic in Suvarnabhumi Airport Forum
Just to be clear, where exactly is the re-entry visa counter nowadays? Pre-Covid, I recall it was after you went through departure immigration, just before you hit the big Naga sculpture and the duty free shops. After Covid it was off to the left in the same room as departure immigration. Lately, I don't recall where it is since they rearranged the departure immigration hall to implement the automatic face scanning thingies. (And do you visit the re-entry counter before or after you've been stamped out?) -

Ice Ice Baby, Trump following through on his promises
impulse replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
I'm wondering what piece of legislation was just passed to allow Trump to get control of the border? Wasn't that Biden's mantra? On an aside, I wonder if Trump will let 5000 in every day before he takes any action? Which would have been the case had "the strongest bi-partisan immigration legislation in history" been passed. -
And JD Vance was the tie breaking vote.
