  1. You mean all those workers coming back to work after Covid? It'll be years before we know how the tax increase affects jobs. We certainly won't know before election day, because until then we'll be inundated with slanted news, from both sides.
  2. Nope. A bit of the truth. Voters are thrilled to see a light at the end of a long dark tunnel.
  3. I guess those meetings where the White House called in the media to insist they improve their messaging is paying off. The economy... Not so much. Not if you listen to the voters.

    Now what!?

I calculated that I've saved around $300,000 USD over the last 35 years since I took the oath. Most of that is booze I didn't buy, but a lot of it is also the stupid money I didn't spend because I wasn't drunk. Largely on women... YMMV.
  5. Call me cynical, but doesn't this sound like every mining stock pump and dump? Announce a great find, pump up the stock, then cash out before the suckers... How many times has that played out just in recent history, never mind over the last century.
  6. I never maintained a swimming pool in Thailand, so I don't know what's available here. But in the USA, I generally bought swimming pool bleach for outdoor use and mold cleaning. Twice the strength of Clorox and about the same price per gallon. Even cheaper if you buy it in bulk at a swimming pool supply shop. Here's the Walmart (USA) version: 10% Sodium Hypochlorite. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pool-Essentials-Chlorinating-Liquid-for-Swimming-Pools-2-Pack
  7. I'm more worried about throwing $6.8 billion of tax money up against a wall and hoping it sticks. To a foreign company, no less. And doing that hundreds of times. When we have a $34T deficit. And millions of new hungry mouths, with crappy employment prospects.
  8. Yet many still want you to vax your kids, in the complete absence of data about long term side effects. Because collecting that data requires a long term.
  9. And yet, Biden took them off the terror list. Oh, Wait a minute... Dozens of attacks later, they're finally back on.
  10. One day, satellites will get scratch and sniff technology for their photos, and that will remove all doubt... But I'm not sure that will be a good day. Partly for killing the romantic notions of a tropical paradise, but especially for a lot of tourist spots. And not just Thailand.
  11. You do get that he's bragging that more people need gub'ment assistance to afford their expenses? It's like bragging that the soup kitchen is serving more homeless than ever before... Kudos to the soup kitchen. But why are more people in need?
  12. I don't guess she could have have found a wallet on the ground and was looking for the owner?
  13. K-Buri is my favorite weekend getaway from Bangkok. Like msbkk, I wouldn't bother with a guided tour. When you get there, hook up with one of the 3 wheeled sidecar scooter drivers (or a pickup taxi if you're into safety) and they can show you everything. Don't miss the 2 cemeteries, 3 museums (JEATH by the bridge, the Aussie run one by the allied cemetery and one other whose location escapes my leaky brain. The Aussie run one is the "best", but don't miss the JEATH for lots of eclectic stuff. Take a longtail boat ride from under the bridge for 800 baht to go to the other cemetery. Hit the night market by the train station for great street food. Except on Saturday night, hit the night market under the glass elevated walkway. Both amazing night markets for food. If you have the time, a side trip to Hellfire Pass is worthwhile, but carve out half a day, at least. Makes it tough on just a weekend. For location and budget, I love the Kanchanaburi City hotel. On the water when I had my kayaks, I liked The Zeit. But there's a ton of great, cheap hotels and some high end hotels that won't disappoint if you need to impress a babe.
  14. I always had better luck with the blue. Actually smelled like bleach, too. (The pink stuff didn't) Great for cleaning mold off my shower.
  15. I'm just looking at the dots. Not claiming to connect them. But there sure are a lot of dots...
  16. Just noting the temporal correlation between Biden being in the White House and Iran misbehaving. Not unlike the correlation between the Biden Whitehouse and Russia misbehaving. And between the Biden Whitehouse and Palestinians misbehaving. And between the Biden Whitehouse and US military deaths in Afghanistan. And the Biden Whitehouse and millions of illegals invading at the border. I'm sensing a pattern here...
  17. Looks like Iran is making good use of all those Biden bucks.
  18. Not really. All it requires is that a passport number be attached to each boarding pass. The heavy lifting could be done by the immigration database that can flag anyone on overstay (or wanted for crimes), and be waiting for them when they deplane. If it's a fast database, they can be waiting at the departure gate, before the flight. That's assuming, of course, that the Immigration database can talk to the airline database. But that's '80s tech.
  19. And still is. Maybe, maybe not. The graphic shows that other ID is only acceptable for foreigners who lost or cannot produce their passport. Not hard to imagine those people will have to produce a police report showing they lost or cannot produce their passport. I'm gonna wait and see what they really do. Not that it matters to me, since I always carried my passport traveling domestic, even when I had a DL. Too many hotels that don't accept a DL.
  20. I wonder if that means they'll be requiring a police "Lost Passport Report" in order to accept other forms of ID?
  21. I wonder if they mean matching ID and boarding pass before actually getting on the plane? I know I always had my PP or TDL to get my boarding pass, but I don't remember whether they actually matched them up at the gate flying domestic. But I haven't flown domestic in Thailand since Covid. I always wondered if someone could buy a boarding pass for someone else...
  22. What's so bad? I want a non -Biden presidency. But I support him if the option is Kamala. Neither statement is mutually exclusive. She's the bestest insurance ever against getting impeached.
  23. Nobody is forcing them to eat aspirin or drink alcohol to keep their job.
