I apologize that I couldn't vet these links because they're blocked here. But a Bing search revealed: https://www.msn.com/en-xl/news/other/violent-clashes-break-out-across-france-after-left-wing-s-surprise-election-win/ar-BB1pzswi https://dailytelegraph.co.nz/news/french-election-results-trigger-riots/ https://newsrescue.com/french-election-results-trigger-riots-videos/ https://ussanews.com/2024/07/07/french-election-results-trigger-riots-videos/ https://thepressunited.com/updates/french-election-results-trigger-riots-videos/ I'm sure a Google search in English would be even more comprehensive

I don't know enough to come down on either side in France. Can someone explain the rioting? It's being described this way on RT: Riots and looting broke out across France as left-wing supporters flooded the streets to celebrate the New Popular Front coalition's victory over the right-wing National Rally and President Emmanuel Macron’s centrists, after early results were released on Sunday night. Is that how they celebrate a win? Burning and looting? Did the left's win embolden them due to lack of expected consequences? Or is there another dynamic?

He must be the worst grifter EVER. The only president in recent history that's worth less than he was going in. https://blog.cheapism.com/what-presidents-are-worth/ Or it just may be possible he's doing it to Make America Great Again, in spite of the personal cost. (Wonder how many scrunchy face emojis I'll win with that one?)

Opening a Thai Bank Account
impulse replied to James9999's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I'm not meaning to be a smart ass here, but sometimes the best thing to do is find a visa agent to help you with the details. Contrary to urban myth, they're not all dodgy. A lot of guys use them just so they get all the paperwork right and don't have to wait in queues. For a first timer, that's the way I'd go. I'd suggest contacting one before you leave Thailand (if you have enough time before your flight). If they can help you, it'll be a couple hundred USD. If they can't, you've lost nothing but your time. And you'll have a better idea what your best options are. Keep in mind that the "rules" may be a constant, but how they're interpreted can vary by bank, by branch and by Immigration Office- even by your nationality. Agents keep up with all of that. -
Opening a Thai Bank Account
impulse replied to James9999's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Out of curiosity, how do you prove you have 400K or 800K in a Thai bank account, without having a Thai bank account? I'm sure you can get a convertible visa without one, but not the retirement or marriage extension. -
100%, but not all at the scene.

The sad thing is that you think you're voting for the party of Kennedy and Clinton, but you're really voting for the party of AOC and batcrap crazy.

I am neither a fan of the Demicans, nor the Republicrats. I refer to them as the Uniparty, but that's too simplistic. They're like sports teams that beat the crap out of each other on the field, but they really just want people to buy tickets to their game. And they hang out and drink with each other, scheming how to get more fans and advertiser money. In any case, claiming either side is more corrupt, using a single book (from the thousands that have been published) as an "approved source" (or any kind of definitive) is ludicrous. It's a link to a political hit piece. Nothing more.

Doesn't this kinda throw a wrench in your narrative that it was the Trump DOJ that gave Boeing a sweetheart deal? Looks like they're getting another from the Biden DOJ. Let's see if the judge accepts it. The plea deal, which still must receive the approval of a federal judge to take effect, calls for Boeing to pay an additional $243.6 million fine. That was the same amount it paid under the 2021 settlement that the Justice Department said the company breached. https://apnews.com/article/boeing-guilty-plea-crashes-245a38dc6d3082f4ddff1f6f74f274f2

Vowing to Stay On, Biden Knows He "screwed up" Last Weeks Debate
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I don't guess you've ever heard the expression "When the US economy gets a cold, the whole world sneezes"? (I'm paraphrasing) I have no doubt that he printed up so many debt backed BidenBucks (to buy votes and appease donors), that it drove up prices around the world. Too many $$ chasing too few goods... Then compare Trump's final budget proposal with Biden's final budget proposal, calculate the growth in spending and get back to us... -

Here's an interesting tidbit from WURD, who interviewed Biden: The interview featured pre-determined questions provided by the White House, which violates our practice of remaining an independent media outlet accountable to our listeners. As a result, Ms. Lawful-Sanders and WURD Radio have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately,” WURD said in a statement on Sunday. Which begs 2 questions: 1) Did Stephanopoulus stick to the questions approved by the White House in advance? (And did CNN provide the debate questions in advance for the White House to approve?) 2) Was Ms Lawful-Sanders fired for the pre-determined questions, or for letting on to CNN (and the world) that she had to agree to stick to to pre-determined questions? Showing the world how Team Biden rocks in order to protect The Big Guy? https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/07/breaking-black-radio-host-fired-allowing-biden-white/ Edit: I'd add that this was the interview where Biden claimed to be the first black female VP. So apparently, having the questions in advance wasn't enough to save him.

If I started a similar thread about how the Dems have grifted, with a link to a book or article by Mark Levin, Victor Davis Hanson, Thomas Sowell, or (God forbid) Newt Gingrich or a hundred other conservative authors, I'd be dogpiled by the lefties and chances are the entire thread would last an hour until it was taken down.

Trump's Vision for 2025: A Sweeping Crackdown on Immigration
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I'm pretty sure I left a link. I even went out of my way to make sure my link was to a lefty source, lest I be accused of linking only to right wing nonsense. With 10x as many registered Dems as Repubs in journalism, it's tough to find lefty sources that don't parrot the narrative. You lefties don't appreciate how easy you have it, compared to any conservative that needs a link that won't be deleted because it's "not an approved source". Edit: As if the "approved" MSM hasn't been lying to us for years, recently exposed in undisputable detail. -
Yeah, 'cause a 5 year old website, often pre-Covid, is more reliable than a personal recommendation from someone who's been there this week. Sadly, a lot of the old timers who used to post useful information on ThaiVisa have gone by the wayside.

I don't know about Biden hats, but the Biden T-shirts are really popular among wannabe newcomers. Apparently, even they see the dual system of justice in the USA and figure they'll have a better chance if they show their support. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/immigrants-biden-shirts-let-us-in/

Trump's Vision for 2025: A Sweeping Crackdown on Immigration
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
So riddle me this. If border security was so important to Dems, why didn't they go back and recraft the DOA bill, removing contentious stuff like the money for Ukraine and Israel (which were decided by separate votes)? And the 5000 illegals per day that doomed the bill, with or without Trump's input. Or would they prefer to leave the borders wide open and have something to beat up on Trump with. Win-win for election year Dems. We can make Trump look like the bad guy AND keep importing future Dem voters and cheap labor for our donors. And why won't the Dem led senate even take up HR.2, the immigration bill that was passed by the Repub led house? They'd rather beat Trump than protect the country. -

I got mine from NPR, which you may recall, has 100% Dems on staff. 87 registered Dems and zero (count 'em zero) registered Repubs. Pretty tough to call that one right wing misinformation. https://www.thefp.com/p/npr-editor-how-npr-lost-americas-trust -
Trump's Vision for 2025: A Sweeping Crackdown on Immigration

Strange thing about "putting kids in cages". It kept them safe from predators and child traffickers. Reports show the government lost track of 85,000 migrant children, and some of those children may have been forced into labor in the U.S. https://www.npr.org/2023/04/19/1170802333/congressional-lawmakers-raise-concerns-about-the-welfare-of-migrant-children Maybe AOC should cry for the 85,000 kids they've "misplaced" -
Sony A7 IV. Has anyone here tried it?
impulse replied to jas007's topic in Photography Equipment and Tools
Honest question, because I buy cheap smartphones... Do they have a decent zoom performance? That's why I bought a Fujifilm HS30 EXR as a starter (2nd hand, bridge camera with good zoom) and liked it so much that I upgraded to a Nikon D5500 to try out interchangeable lenses. With just 2 lenses, I exceeded my photography skillset and desire, for at least a few years. Sadly, I left them back in the USA when I got called to China for a healthcare emergency (long story). So now I'm looking for something decent that doesn't break the bank. Almost bought a Lumix mirrorless, but went home to look up YouTube reviews and it was gone the next day. -
Trump's Vision for 2025: A Sweeping Crackdown on Immigration
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The Dem led senate won't even debate HR.2, which is the immigration bill that passed the Repub led house. So I'd say it's the Dems blocking the border security bill. And it doesn't allow 5000 illegals a day like that "bipartisan" disaster that was DOA with or without Trump's input. -

Not exactly on topic, but I found 2 great 2nd hand camera shops in 2 malls around Chatuchak. One is in MixT Mall 2nd floor and the other is in the Red Building (Bang Sue junction, I think) They're both the same company. Well worth a visit if you're at the weekend market anyway, and open during the week (BangSue Jct is closed on Monday). Huge selection of mostly obsolete cameras, but they also have some current-ish models. And tons of lenses, along with tripods and other accessories. Obviously, hit and miss if you need a specific model. I know there's a lot of 2nd hand camera shops scattered all over Bangkok, so I wouldn't make a special trip. But if you're at the weekend market anyway...
