How, exactly, did Trump's DOJ decide anything when the issues presented in the Texas lawsuit are still winding their way through the courts, almost 4 years later? With a goodly percentage of the rulings going against the illegal changes made by some activist election officials, without the required legislative approvals.

I question the eyesight of the 28% that don't have doubts. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they're not dumb or disingenuous. Or suffering from an unmentionable syndrome.

Not so great for Ukrainians on the front line, soon to be facing the repatriated. As if they're not dying fast enough already. Maybe that's Turkey's goal. I don't claim to know their politics.

Read the Texas vs Pennsylvania et al lawsuit from December 2020. Then read the amicus briefs by 18 states and 126 congressman agreeing that there was cause to question the results. Trump would have been irresponsible if he hadn't questioned the results. It was an official act, backed by hundreds of elected officials. The idea that he went rogue is ludicrous.

Does America have any candidates that aren't terrible?
impulse replied to susanlea's topic in Political Soapbox
I was thrilled when he got elected, promising transparency and a bunch of other things. He delivered none of what he promised. I wasn't pleased at all when he got a 2nd term. Even less pleased when he left behind the most clandestine gub'ment the USA has ever had. And that's saying a lot. Plus, he still didn't deliver anything that was less expensive than when he walked in. (unless you were on welfare...) I had Obamacare. Cost me $1,400 a month, and had more holes in it than Swiss cheese, on top of a horrendous deductible. -
Biden Discussing Future with Family at Camp David

If there was a Repub that could beat Trump, they'd be running him/her. They're not like the Dem elite who tell their voters who they're not allowed to vote for. -
My 2 favorite wood markets in Bangkok are around Bang Sue and another surrounding the Golden Mountain Temple. I can wander around either one for hours. I'm traveling today so I struggle posting a map link (fat finger typist. I am) Maybe that'll jog someone else's memory. The market around Golden Mount is hard to miss. But I'll have to look at Google maps to nail down the one near Bang Sue. Neither was close to MRT or BTS 10 years ago, but maybe they've built out closer to Bang Sue. Edit: Google maps, search "Bang Sue wood market".

Not surprising that dumping a bunch of borrowed money caused a bump in the stock market, where the top 10% own 90% of the stock. Leaves out the 90% who don't own as much, struggling to buy food and gas and pay the rent. It's just like the millions of homeowners that are celebrating the huge increase in real estate prices. Yipee. Until they realize that they can't afford to sell their house and buy another. And they're now getting smacked with huge increases in property taxes. Not to mention the millions of young people who have been locked out of owning a home. -
Trump was smart to delay announcing a VP.
impulse replied to Cryingdick's topic in Political Soapbox
Even smarter are the Dems, who haven't announced their candidate, in spite of ample evidence that Joe's not up to it. Keeping their real candidates out of the primary fray where they beat the crap out of each other, and out of the general election fray to keep from any deep dives by what little honest media is still reporting the truth. I'm still betting on a Michelle/ Gavin ticket. Saw last night that even Ted Cruz is predicting Michelle. -

You know what they call a well dressed New Yorker? A mugging target. I'd rather dress like I have no money on me. -

And he did his best in between unhinged impeachment attempts, Dems wanting to import millions of future blue voters, and The Squad raising money to bail out mostly peaceful looters. Does anyone here think the US is in better shape today than it was on inauguration day, 2021? -

He didn't have to say anything. You could see it in his eyes, if only you had the syndrome too. It's a superpower, that syndrome. Allows you to read minds, rewrite the past, and tell the future. -

In another "asked and answered" thread, I had a MAGA hat made at MixT across from Chatuchuk Weekend Market. MixT is a newish mall that's worth a visit. I was mostly looking at 2nd hand cameras and saw the hat shop. It's one of those places that does embroidery while you wait. The red hat cost 199 baht and the MAGA embroidery set me back another 100 baht, for 300 baht all in. I'm going to wait until I get back home to make my own t-shirt like this: https://officialhodgetwins.com/products/when-i-die-t-shirt Even if you don't buy the merch, the Hodge Twins YouTubes are a hoot.

Who will replace Joe Biden as the Democratic Presidential candidate?
impulse replied to connda's topic in Political Soapbox
Newsom also insists he's not gonna run, and we all know he's lying. You can tell, because his lips are moving. -
So it is based on category of work. And yes, I am just razzing you.

Should Biden do another LBJ? When? (Not If)

She was his insurance against getting impeached. Sheer genius. Evil, yes. But genius. Edit: I'd add that she's probably the reason nobody will invoke the 25th, in spite of an obvious and compelling need. -
That's not what my company's HR told me. And I can't imagine an American teacher paying tax on 80K. But maybe they are...

How'za 'bout WaPo? 8. Michelle Obama This is the fantasy option for Democrats — and we mean that in more than one way. She would seem to be the ideal alternative for many, but she also seems unlikely to run. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/06/28/democrat-options-replace-biden/ Have a look at the Fox video referencing the 10 alternatives mentioned in the WaPo article, look at the faces, and tell me who ticks the DEI boxes, other than Kamala and Michelle? https://www.foxnews.com/video/6356008437112
