Report Substandard Rebar Found in Collapsed Bangkok Building's Construction
impulse replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
I watch the guy for the data, photos and videos, all collected in one place. If his coverage is anything like the Florida condo collapse, he'll be posting updates as more info comes in. In the case of Florida, that included the official reports, rebuttals from other parties, leaked memos, etc. I'm not the right kind of engineer to judge any conclusions he may draw. Mechanical engineers like me mostly deal with stuff that's supposed to move. Edit: Of course, he may not be as able to collate all the information here since he doesn't speak or read Thai. -
Xi Jinping is not satisfied with winning the trade war
impulse replied to AndreasHG's topic in Political Soapbox
When your toilet leaks, your shower stall turns black with mold and the wallpaper's peeling off in the corners, it's time to remodel. It's not going to look pretty for a while. But in the end, the results are worth it. It's the same with bad trade policies. And over $35 trillion in debt.- 158 replies

Ebike Tailight Always On Help
impulse replied to carlyai's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
I'd quit fiddle farting around. Life's too short to stay frustrated. Sell them and buy what you want. Just be honest and disclose it. List it as a safety feature. But be ready for the disappointment in the sale price, whether you fix the problem modify the safety feature or not. -

Accident Horrific Motorway 7 Crash Claims Eight Lives

I should have added, leave enough room for the big ass truck to accelerate if he needs to leave before you do. -
Accident Horrific Motorway 7 Crash Claims Eight Lives

Cautionary tale. If you're going to pull off into the emergency lane, it's better to do it in front of the big ass stopped truck. So sad, all around. -
All Vaccines Will Kill You - The evidence is overwhelming
impulse replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Covid/Vaccine
Perhaps that's because the vaccine regimen in the 50s and 60s was a tiny fraction of the vaccine regimen today. I'm only claiming a temporal correlation between that and autism and obesity and... and... But I'm glad we finally have someone at the helm who's willing to dig into the data. -

Transport Double-Deckers Banned from Risky Roads After Tragic Crash
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I've visited a couple of shops where the double deckers are re-built on decades old chassis. It's scary how much plywood and how many pop rivets they use. No structural rigidity at all. If you get into an accident on one, you have about as much protection as a paper bag. -
Travel Thailand's Chinese Tourism Faces Crisis as Arrivals Plummet

Nothing against Vietnam, but I don't know how you'd prepare for a 178% increase without some deterioration of quality. Anyone from Vietnam want to comment? -
7-Eleven No Longer Gives Receipts - What Happened?
impulse replied to SeaMike01's topic in General Topics
Kudos to you. I did that exercise for about a year, 30 years ago. It was a real eye opener how much I was spending, even a nickel, dime and dollar at a time. I do a repeat every few years, but only for a month or so. My spending habits have gotten much better. -
Wall Street Journal Dunks On Trump In Stinging New Editorial
impulse replied to BLMFem's topic in Political Soapbox
Oh, I don't know. They sold the good news about Biden's mental acuity and Kamala's oratory genius. The question is, who's buying (and paying)? Because it certainly isn't the readers and listeners who are leaving the MSM in droves. -

Gosh. Another MSM says Orange Man Bad. That's new. And apparently threadworthy. -
7-Eleven No Longer Gives Receipts - What Happened?
impulse replied to SeaMike01's topic in General Topics
Didn't they used to have a policy that your purchase was free if you didn't get a receipt? That was to get the customers to rat out the cashiers that were pocketing the money... Or maybe that was another chain. -
Why Zelensky Won’t Bargain Away Crimea — No Matter the Pressure
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I see we have a bunch of the "willing to fight down to the last dead Ukrainian" guys here. Crimea was lost. It's not coming back without WW3, a NATO ground war and possible nuclear Armageddon. (Under Obama, I may add). So was the Donbass. (Under Biden) The dying needs to stop, and the reconstruction needs to start. Edit: My biggest concern is that Zelenskyy's intransigence will eventually force Putin to go all the way to Kiev. Or kill another few million trying. -
Report IKEA Goes Cashless at Key Thai Stores Amid Mixed Reactions
impulse replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It's a concern if you don't have a blocking wallet or card sleeve. And I'd bet that a show of hands would reveal that most of us don't. Don't even get me started about putting my smartphone in my pocket inside a bulky faraday pouch. -

And the QR fans call us out as luddites and technophobes. Personally, I have nothing against people who prefer cashless payments. Some of them are decent people. That's just not my preference. -
Transport Double-Deckers Banned from Risky Roads After Tragic Crash
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I thought they already banned new double deckers and the problem was rebuilding decades old chassis and re-registering them under the existing VIN. Or did that go by the wayside like so many tourism/safety proclamations? -
