I wondered on another thread if anyone knew why Food Panda is going tits up? Still wondering... Does anyone know?

I think it would be an amazing trip, but a little more difficult now with that thing going on in Ukraine.

UK to Launch Solar Dimming Experiments in Effort to Curb Climate Crisis
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
So we have a tiny country the size of Michigan planning to unilaterally modify the entire world's climate. Are you sure that's not the plot of Austin Powers 4 Maximum Evilness ? -
And the saddest thing is that the US Gub'ment (ie taxpayers) are funding both sides of the due process. Whether that's paying for the public defenders directly or sending money to NGOs who use it to stretch out the cases for 5 years. Watch the videos of illegals crossing over the border and think to yourself, "Each one is another $10-100K that we'll have to spend on due process"... Thank goodness that's stopped. Now, we'll just have to spend $$ hundreds of billions (and years) to clean up the mess.

Report IKEA Goes Cashless at Key Thai Stores Amid Mixed Reactions
impulse replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I don't know about KFC, but I used the Burger King kiosk at Swampy and I just couldn't figure out how to order 2 burgers without the fries and drink. I wanted one to eat in the departure area and one to put in my carry on for the flight. It took an attendee to walk me back about 3 or 4 steps in the menu. Had she not been there, they would have lost out on the $20 for the 2 small burgers. -

After seeing what happened to the Canadian truckers, I don't want to see cashless adopted at all. Imagine if they can prevent you from buying anything if they don't like what you say online. Edit: To be clear, I'm against mandatory cashless. -
Report IKEA Goes Cashless at Key Thai Stores Amid Mixed Reactions
impulse replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Judging from the number of times I've seen a 7/11, Tops, Big C and other cashiers having to help a customer with their QR payment, that's got to be costing them business. I've walked out of several places like that when I couldn't get the self serve kiosk to get my order right, or to accept my plastic. Sometimes, we luddites need help navigating the menu. But we do have sweaty cash... OTOH, I'm always amazed at the Thai and Chinese netizens that score big online discounts when they go in for fast food. -

I think they take plastic. And if they don't, no great loss to me. I already quit Starbucks in Bangkok because they don't take cash and I don't like pulling out the plastic for a $5 transaction. That's forced me to try other coffee shops with coffee that's just as good and half the price. And they take cash.- 143 replies

Travel Thailand's Chinese Tourism Faces Crisis as Arrivals Plummet
impulse replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I see the usual compassion for the millions of Thai people who depend on tourists the posters don't like for their living. April 16 is the day I flew in from China with a planeload of tourists that looked pretty well off and looking for a place to spend their sweaty tourist cash -

I think a lot of people with smartphones don't have cashless payment options on them. I'm one of them.- 143 replies

Honest questions to Viber, MyTello and Yolla users... Can you sign up from Thailand? If so, I'll try them on my next monthly visit. Also, are they phone apps, or can they be used on a Windows computer? And can you get a phone number from your home country? (And, creamy dream here... Can you have them use your back home cell number as your caller ID like Skype?) I'm asking because I'm not getting much luv or info from China here. (And my antivirus is flagging some of them)

Trump's Tariff Tax Folly Making American Food BLAND again
impulse replied to Jingthing's topic in Political Soapbox
Believe it, don't believe it. I couldn't give a rat. But the new lunch buffet at the local WuMart now has orange chicken. -
My beef was that they got assigned to international routes based on seniority. So a lot of them were old and jaded and worn out after fighting the airlines for years over pay and working conditions. Some of them were absolute treasures. But too many were surly and bitter and entitled. I've never once seen a foreign airline's flight attendants refuse to help an elder female passenger put her carry-on into the overhead bins. I saw it regularly flying US airlines which will go unnamed. I had one overnight flight where I sat next to a flight attendant union rep and we talked for hours about the way the airlines abuse them.

Strangely, I had orange chicken for the first time in 25 years here in China. On a buffet last month. It was good. -
US Homeland Security chief looses her purse in DC

When you travel in those circles, $3K is pocket change. I don't usually agree with bamnutsak, but I'd be more worried about her phone and her passport. That's where the real money would be. -

What conspiracy? The OP says they went bankrupt closing down for Covid. -
I migrated to Teams. They ported over my contacts and I now have 4 of the 200+ Skype contacts. That's all that have joined Teams. 3 of them are vendors I haven't used in a decade. No phone calls enabled. I'll let it sit on my computer for a few weeks, then wipe it if it gets no better.
