  1. I held off answering because my only experience was with Samsung's Smart Switch app, which allowed me to pretty much clone my Samsung phone onto the new Samsung tablet I just bought. It worked fairly well, though not flawlessly. Most of the accounts and the apps were ported over, with a few exceptions, and I had to log into the accounts that were password protected. Which had me confirm through 2FA, and that required me to have my old phone on hand. There are several apps that claim to transfer accounts, apps, etc. to a new phone. But I think it works best if you do it before you lose your old phone... I Bing searched "phone transfer app" since Google is blocked here. I was (am) hoping someone would chime in with a cloud service where I could park all my accounts and apps and invoke them in case I lost all my devices in the zombie apocalypse. Or an earthquake...
  2. Not to mention that there are corporate jets and private planes departing BKK and DMK (and others) every day with empty seats. Some of them sponsor Angel Flight programs where they offer the seats to patients that need to travel for treatment. But they can't make the offer if they don't know the need. Ya don't ask, ya don't get.
  3. Take it down to the local grease monkey and have them pressure test the system. Shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred baht. It's tough to tell from the photos, especially with everything dry. A pressure test will tell you for sure.
  4. The way I read it is that the son is asking the embassy whether his father will qualify for NHS care if he does get him back to the UK. That seems like a reasonable request for information from the embassy. They should be well versed in issues like that which affect their citizens abroad. I wish the family well.
  5. The problem is the scholarships and other winnings they'd lose in the here and now if they refused to compete. It may be years before this idiot phase is relegated to the bins of stupid history. In the meantime, the XX women lose their scholarship opportunities...
  6. So does having to work for a living, after you've been living on the dole for generations.
  7. I'm not deflecting at all. Now that the election integrity cases are actually winding their way through the courts, the Dems aren't getting their way so much.
  8. Doubt it. JFK's assassination showed what happens when you get between the rich and their money.
  9. Why would that surprise anyone when lefties and Dems are out demonstrating that they'll break whatever laws they must in order to get their way? A better race to follow is North Carolina, where the Dem candidate's 700 vote lead is being tested because 65,000 voters were registered illegally. The NC Court of Appeals has requested that the election officials clean up that mess or remove those 65K ballots from the results.
  10. Neither can I, sadly. It has ever been so- the 1% rip off the poor, at least till the tumbrils await. FDR hit the reset button when he raised to top marginal tax rate to 90%, claiming (and I'm paraphrasing here...) "You rich people broke the economy, you're going to pay the bill to fix it". And America had its most prosperous decades, until they lowered that top marginal rate.
  11. It's decades (and $trillions) overdue. So is slamming the brakes on throwing USAID (and other US tax) money around under the stupid thought that you can buy the respect and admiration of the merchant world. Who will just keep screwing you while thanking you and handing out meaningless awards.
  12. Catering to obnoxious drunks with more money than brains is their business model. If you're offended, I'd suggest you stay away. They're perfectly capable of handling the situation (after they've carefully divined whether there's more money in kicking them out than letting them be obnoxious). Keep in mind that the lout may have dropped thousands and thousands of baht in the past. And some of them even own the places...
  13. He may just throw open the border to all and sundry. That's a sure way to destroy a country. Just ask the Europeans...
  14. The saddest thing is that it took them 20 years to mete out some justice.
  15. Here's a thought. Reduce the 72% tariffs being levied on American imports into Thailand. You're still only getting half the rate. I wouldn't be surprised (or disappointed) to see the 36% rate increase even more if there's no reciprocal movement.
  16. I'm not riding a scooters. Sorry. This I leave to the idiots And yet, you're harping on her for not having insurance coverage... Which doesn't exist for an unlicensed scooter driver.
  17. Can you point to a single travel insurance policy that covers scooter accidents for unlicensed riders?
  18. Eezy peezy. If you enter the country illegally, you will never be allowed to gain permanent status, much less citizenship. You will not be allowed to work or drive or open a bank account, and you will not be allowed to sponge off the taxpayer. Ever. Maybe once, we'll let you to self deport and then come back legally (and then we'll welcome you), but if you try it twice, it's a lifetime ban. But that's mean and racist...
  19. That's the only place their policies pass muster.
  20. Today's Ivy Leaguers would propose burning TESLAs for heat in the winter.
  21. That's what happens when you let in millions of unvetted migrants from God knows where. They bring their diseases and their lifetime of poor hygiene with them. It's not their fault. The blame goes to the administration that told us for years that Joe didn't have the authority to stop it. Then Trump did stop it, within weeks. Thank God we dodged another 4 years of that misery. Edit: But it's going to take years, maybe decades to clean up that mess, with the Dems (and syndrome sufferers) fighting every step of the way.
  22. There are several commercial PNR lookup sites out there that already do just that.
  23. I don't share the disdain that a lot of AN posters have for Thai IT skills. We had some amazing guys working in our server room and facilities across Thailand and offshore. They kept things humming quite nicely.
