  1. I wonder how many seconds it took to fill 73 positions at those advertised salaries?
  2. To the OP, one of the things I learned in AA is that what other people think of me is none of my business. It has served me well. I just keep my nose clean and don't give a rat what others think.
  3. We had one guy who was a "guest" of Sadam for a few months during the first Gulf war when they took over an offshore platform. Another guy (different company) cost the company over $1 million when his car hit a camel. He wasn't even driving. He was just in the car. But they wouldn't release him until the compensation was paid. My brother's company kept a yacht at the marina and his orders were to get on the yacht and over the horizon because the host country didn't have a navy to speak of. All of them had practice drills for what to do. So carrying $10K and a first class ticket was cheap bug out gear. My career wasn't in nearly as dodgy areas. Our offshore platforms in south Thailand were once surrounded by angry fishermen who wouldn't let anyone come or go. But that was before I got there. I loved working in S Thailand. Great people.
  4. I keep $4900 emergency cash when I travel (to stay under the $5000 reporting limit for some countries I transit). I keep it in my overhead bag, but it's in one of the hidden zippered compartments with a few bucks of sacrificial cash in the easier places. 49 bills make quite a lump in my pocket. And I do my best to look like a cheap Charlie when I travel. Companies I've worked for required our employees to carry $10K cash and an unrestricted first class ticket to get out of the country if SHTF. I picked up that habit. I've rarely broken into my cash stash, but never say never.
  5. As I said. If you're sitting in a prison, that means you've had all the due process that's due to you. If you've had that due process 4 times, I wouldn't object to sending you to a lower cost accommodation like in El Salvador.
  6. My wife and I would perform booger checks on each other before we got into our respective cars and drove to work each morning. Can't say I ever deliberately let her walk around with one. That's just mean.
  7. It says it's a Macau Airline flight. I didn't see where it specified the route. For example, I have flown to BKK on Xiamen Air departing about 6 different cities in China. Same with Shanghai Air and Sichuan Air. As I recall, my last flight from Macau to BKK was about a 2-1/2 hour flight. So, not exactly long haul.
  8. It could also have to do with the Universities that can't define what a woman is, and charge exorbitant overhead rates on their gub'ment work. Criticizing Israel is protected, but not taking over and vandalizing buildings or physically threatening any students, including the Jewish ones.
  9. Once again, that's why a lot of people walk around with a booger all day. I hate the ones that look like they're on a hinge, blowing in and out as I'm talking to someone. It's really distracting.
  10. No. I'm saying that if you're sitting in a US prison, you've already had your due process. You have been tried and convicted. They can send you anywhere they choose. If you're convicted in Florida, you could go to prison in Colorado. You don't get to pick and choose.
  11. It's an advertorial. Still, lots of good points.
  12. Show me where it says that in the Constitution.
  13. Never heard of a 3 strikes law? You get due process. And an enhanced sentence. Those preceded Trump's terms by decades.
  14. US citizens? Because that's the topic here. If you're talking about illegal immigrants, that authority is vested in the Executive Branch. Always has been.
  15. Perhaps it's better to do that research at universities that can define what a woman is.
  16. With or without due process? Who decides who are "all the worst convicts"? If you're sitting in a US prison on a violent felony for the 4th time in your life, you've already been afforded all the "due process" that you deserve, and I wouldn't object to saving the taxpayers some money by sending you to a retirement in an El Salvador prison. Or if you're convicted of violence against another inmate or the guards while you're in a US prison...
  17. I do a quick boog check every time I pass a mirror, like in the Men's room... Being careful not to stare at myself for too long.
  18. That explains why a lot of people walk around with a big old booger hanging out of their nose all day.
  19. When I was a kid, it took a lot of beer to make some of them look okay to go...
  20. But nobody turns down free money. Especially OPM. Edit: To be clear, I have no issue with spending gub'ment money on university research as long as we're getting value for the funds and the Universities are adhering to US law. Which a lot of other universities do.
  21. Being the only foreigner at a lot of trade shows and airports in China, I get asked to do a lot of selfies. Recently, I've looked amazingly young on some of them because of smartphone camera tech that shaves year off my old fart face and bald head. I don't know what setting they're using, but it's spooky.
  22. One exception is naturalized citizens who can be stripped of their citizenship. Happened to a few former Nazis who had become US citizens, then it was discovered they participated in Nazi crimes. (I suspect that it's happened to others, but the Nazi cases are well known.) And of course, there are extradition treaties where criminals sought by other countries may be sent to those countries for prosecution even if they are US citizens. But none of that is new (or specific) to Trump...
  23. Pardon me for not wasting the keystrokes, the bandwidth and the readers' time to lay out the analogy between total water consumption scaled down to a bucket of water.
  24. You may be satisfied with overpriced appliances that perform miserably. Not everyone is.
