  1. Agree Sir, it would be nice to have an alternative site, but I cannot find one.
  2. Good news if they go through with it, though expect Him to turn up in politics in a couple of months.
  3. I remember in the UK, when they wanted to open the pub all day. The bleeding heart brigade said it would lead to mobs of drunks roaming the streets all day. When, as happened, there were less cases. With all day opening people had a more relaxed view towards a drink, no more rushing to the bar at 1.45, ordering three pints and then finishing them before 2.30. I think the same would be true here, people would take their time, probably drink less, because it was there to be had any time. Human nature. Also a win/win for the bars & restaurants, more selling time, more steady income, more employment.
  4. Exactly so. I was led to understand that by court order He is not allowed to be involved in anything to do with politics. By requesting permission to attend a political meeting abroad is, to my mind, shoving a finger up to the judiciary.
  5. I am looking at this option after an earlier post mentioned it, however, there are a considerable number of terrible reviews about it on the net.
  6. Many thanks, looks exactly what I need. Will give it a go....
  7. Lots of helpful info, thanks to members for taking the time to post, However, they mostly seem to be concentrating on business use with monthly subscriptions. I use Skype with a prepaid 10 pounds sterling, with automatic top up when it went to 1 pound. I only use it to call my UK bank, or the government pension people, so a monthly fee would be a waste of money. Any tips for a system that is only used about eight times a year?........cue the jokes now.........
  8. Must be false news, about three or four years ago Big Joke said in His whirlwind blitz that it had been a success, and there were no more overstayers in Kingdom.
  9. According to Google there isn't one......
  10. He should be arrested for breaking the Labour laws, is not what He did a restricted occupation for Thai Nationals only....
  11. Be careful who slag off sunshine, you know absolutely nothing about Me, My History, My Education. Kudos to finding an educated Thai. How many of the population have the qualifications your GF has? How many of the population leave school with a basic knowledge of Thai, how many can read and write Thai fluently, how many can tell you about History, Geography, Science......a very low number of the population, and of those that can, most of them are from Hi-So Families......is your Girlfriend by any chance?
  12. Your last sentence bears a lot of truth to the problem, the Government does not want an educated population or they might start asking difficult questions.
  13. Same area here, 40km from Surin, the sky is grey cloudy, but I do not think is smoke, forecast, partly sunny....
  14. That has me confused.......not that it takes much nowadays anyway. Also, Knowing what cheap charlies backpackers are I cannot imagine a huge influx of tourist money.
  15. My Brother in law is a good example of that. He bought a cheap extension lead for about 70 Baht. It shorted out, and actually started melting. He went back out the next day......and bought the exact same one, even though I pointed out to Him that it was not strong enough to run the appliances He was using.
  16. I take my hat off to the writer who covered all the bases without actually mentioning prostitution.....which We all know does not exist here......
  17. Should that not read, medical conditions, and, brown envelope distribution.
  18. However, the many locals living there have never had the inclination, nor foresight, to put up something to warn people, a couple of old paint buckets with sticks, and ropes. Would not take much.
  19. Aside from the fact He is in the wrong, shall we also start addressing the reckless behaviour of the far more numbered local driver infringements.....oh, sorry, no money in that one.
  20. 50 Baht in our village, the Wife took the money then voted for the other Guy.
  21. Return, They have not left there yet.
  22. Yep, My Wife got Her 50 Baht to walk 100 metres down the road to vote today. Of course She will not do it........She will take the motorbike.....
  23. So, 344,444 Baht per site earmarked. 90 sites paid = 31 million. Leaving a cool 589 million to be stuffed into brown packages. Not a bad distribution is it.
  24. Slightly off topic, apologies, but I was reading the other day that 1 in 12 people in London now is an illegal immigrant.
