During the last spat with Cambodia we had a visit from the police to take a picture of me holding my passport, four days after immigration visited, (we are only 50 km from the border). When I asked them why a visit just after immigration they told my wife they were checking all farangs in case I was spying for Cambodia. I just looked at them, shook my head, and turned away. Never heard such zenophobic claptrap in all my life.

As long as the rich hi-so brigade are making millions on the strong baht then the plebs and their rice can rot. I was told the other day the selling price for rice was about 7Baht per kilo. How anyone can make a living on that is beyond me after paying for fertilizer, planting, moving, harvesting, etc.

I normally buy 2 x 5 litre boxes of wine I use for cooking, when we buy stock for the wife's shop. Usually once a month. "The One" in Prasart is the store we use, and there is a sign on the shelving.

If you buy more than 10 litres you can buy it at 8.30 in the morning in a lot of supermarkets.

Yes, I guess so. After so many years here you probably do lower your standards or you would go loopy. Maybe tourists just see others do it, and copy. One thing is certain, in general, driving standards here are abyssmal, and they have no room to comment or be outraged at anything a foreigner does.
