Ok, so why did you not take legal advice? It seems that you just allowed the DWP to take what they say you owed them from your payments.
Because there was no doubt that i owed them the dosh, i had been overpaid as i was resident in Thailand not the UK and the amount was correct. As i said in a previous post i inadvertently omitted to inform them immediately of my Thai residency and by the time i got around to it i had been overpaid by the said amount. They recovered it as is their right under social security law, see the letter i received from them.

Can you honestly say that this is the UK state pension that you are referring to and not a pension credit or whatever it is called?
Yes no question.

i also would like to know the answer to this question.
has there been a announcement from the government about allowing non essential travel yet?
and so would i.
About a week ago the Bangkok Post stated in one of there boxed articles that inter provincial travel was restricted but gave no details. Now i see that buses are running from Bangkok to north and north eastern provinces, so does that mean the restriction has been lifted and its now a free for all.
Anyone got any or a source to definitive information ? Thanks in anticipation.

Just now, transam said:Yes we did, but you only get upgrades in the EU or countries with a reciprocal agreement, LOS is not one of either....
IMMSMC George Osborne who was Chancellor at the time changed our state pension ENTITLEMENT to one of a BENEFIT, that then allowed them to basically do what they wanted.

Interesting letter, but I'd dispute their last line.
You can in fact appeal if the deductions would cause financial hardship.
When my state pension represents less than 15% of my total pension income i think i'd have a hard job to convince anybody that i would suffer financial hardship lol
I just could'nt be asked........

And the rule states you shouldn't be claiming to be living in the UK when you are actually living in Thailand.
If you want proof, call them and tell them ...I have been living in Thailand for x years but I tell you I live in the UK is that ok...any bets on what the answer will be?
As I already said its upto you what you do but please dont sell the theory that it is all legal and above board.
BINGO

You admitted and agreed to paying, is totally different from them discovering and taking.
Same with unsecured debt, no way for creditors to recover, although they often threaten and bluster.

35 minutes ago, izod10 said:They cannot do anything,it says so DWP rules. They cannot stop anything,if they did the DWP would be breaking the law by not paying you a pension
Just one more time woman lived openly in Aussie for years,DWP knew about her, threatened her but she refused to a frozen pension. DWP took her to court, county court in this instance,so confident of winning the DWP never turned up to court, same same guy in Bristol DWP never turned up, but gave warning will not contest individual case ,but multiple yes they will
34 minutes ago, BritManToo said:Still waiting for you to post the letter ......... prove us all wrong ....... make me eat my words
Not holding my breath though.
8 minutes ago, izod10 said:There are rules and regulations set down by the DWP,..its on line,so any poster can view them, not hard to find, but if you cannot read or understand, yes there may well be a problem
Instead of stabbing in the dark at what is considered "right" go view it,do not pump out complete c.rap for year on year. By now its hurting the frozen pension, lowest in western world,Id be joining the free food line ups but up to you
Here ya go "Know All's", an apology would be nice but to quote one "Know All" "I won't be holding my breath" lmao. Here's my apology for getting the exact figure wrong, my memory is not what it used to be but its still pretty good ehh ?

DWP only act on what you tell them, that's it,nothing more. If you voluntary told them a date, informed them, yes they will go to the date you informed ,simple as that. They will not "fine" you, will not come looking for you.... few things here, DWP state they will not investigate an alleged "fraud" in most instances....it is impossible for a OApensioner to be held liable on his own pension of a fraud,...and if a fraud is undertaken by another OApensioner on partner of OAP maximum that can be done is any other benefit attached to the OAP maybe adjusted.....and so on
Yes i wrote to them and they FINED ME 50GBP's.

You can think what you like my friend, i can assure you its not BS, just for the avoidance of doubt i DON'T post lies but facts based on what happened to me.
I never agreed to ANYTHING they just told me thats what they were going to do and thats exactly what they did.

1 minute ago, BritManToo said:Yes, the 'stopping your pension' threat is often repeated by posters, yet not one person has reported it happening to them.
And as you stated, not allowed according to the DWPs own web pages.
Here's one, i inadvertently allowed the increase to be awarded to my pension and by the time i got around to notifying the DWP 15 months had passed so i'd been overpaid 195 GBP. What they did was FINED me 50GBP and took the 245GBP by way of a reduction in my pension over 3 months ie 80GBP per month for 2 months and 85GBP for 1 month.
It does happen and their communication to me stated they were legally entitled to take this action.

The places they stay will do tm30 reports, they may have to do a return home TM30 (in person or online) just before they visit local immigration for an extension etc.
So why does'nt the hotel that reports your presence tell Immigration how long you are staying for or is that too easy lol

Simple fact of the matter is, the fact that you haven't been charged intermediary fees doesn't mean that others haven't. The fact that others have means that it's not 100% correct that HSBC have only ever charged £4 up to now. If you can't be bothered to check the facts or choose to ignore them, matter for you.
and if me aunt had balls she'd be me uncle lol

I've had a reply from HSBC to just this question. They told me to delete the payee and re-enter the payee as a new one. Make a note of your payee details and delete it. I did this and the transfer went through no problem. The only thing to note is that when I entered my bank details last time for Kasikorn Bank I gave the SWIFT code as KASITHBK. Now it has to be KASITHBKXXX
TFP, yep i eventually got the same.

Certainly not 100% correct. I and numerous others got hit by intermediary charges from HSBC from around 2 years ago. The precise reason we stopped using them. Or maybe we just imagined it. The issue about transfers to Thailand from HSBC was discussed on another forum at the time. So it depends who you were transferring to.
One of the discussions in this very forum:
https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1009774-hsbc-and-bangkok-bank-a-warning-to-all/
Well i did a transfer last month from HSBC to SCB and i was charged 4GBP by HSBC and nothing more and that is all i have ever been charged right up to the date of ceasing to use them (middle of last year) and moving over to TW, my reason for moving was the crap exchange rate offered by SCB.
If things have changed why have i only been charged the same 4GBP last month or perhaps i imagined it, lmao ?

Well i've been trying to do an HSBC Swift transfer to SCB for the last 24 hours with NO success, they keep saying their system is down and to try again later, perhaps what the OP is experiencing is related to my problem and they have withdrawn the facility whilst they sort it out. I have messaged them and am awaiting a reply, its just not good enough.....
Here's the reply guys, can you believe it ? No prior warning was given......

I can't see any reason why not, its money being transferred into Thailand for living expenses irrespective of the source, but i could be wrong.....

It is irrelevant if IO's in other areas interpret things slightly differently, their interpretation will have no effect whatsoever on your application in your local office. If you want to know what the requirements are at your local office, GO ASK THEM........ ie: don't ask or worry about Chang Mai's interpretations if you go to CW, its irrelevant to your application.
Bingo, i went to my local office (Korat) and saw the boss lady and showed her monthly copies of my SCB account showing the credit transfers coupled with the TW PDF's all tallying up, she was happy and said don't worry you won't have a problem when you renew your retirement extension in Jan 2020.

26 minutes ago, SooKee said:21 hours ago, Tanoshi said:When doing bank to bank transfers, their is usually a standard charge by your bank which is charged separately to your account. Thereafter there may also be an additional Intermediary bank charge, which again is charged directly to your account.
The full sum is transferred, but the receiving bank may also charge a receiving fee, which is deducted from the incoming total.Yes I'm well aware of exactly how the fees are applied and by who. The SPECIFIC point of the HSBC transfer this time was to see if they are still using Intermediary banks which will result in the funds being depleted en route over and above their flat £4. A few years ago HSBC weren't using Intermediary banks. Then their arrangements changed. Then transfers were being hit. The one I did recently wasn't. But I'm not sure that that can be relied on seeing as another poster transferring from HSBC also to BKK Bank a day or so after me did get a £35 charge.
Just a point of info, HSBC international Swift transfers are currently down and have been since friday am, i've emailed them and am still awaiting a reply.

A lady answered my call and when asked if the hotel was open she replied "NO", i then said well i've booked a room through Agoda and she replied "if you book a room through a booking agency then YES we are open"
The mind boggles lol
