  1. there is a surprising amount of exotic and expensive vehicles in my car park that have been imported from japan and europe

SuperSport bikes ,Harley Davidsons,Bmws ,Mercs ,Lexus and loads of new fortuners and nissan and toyota pick ups (many with alloy wheels, upgraded suspension and all the optional extras ....)

I dont know what they all do for a living but whatever it is it must be paying well ........

could be all on credit but for sure there is some serious money in bkk and im NOT talking about the farangs :D

  2. Maybe your plumber isn't as good as you think, considering how often you need repairs.

Yes, often what you think are the best contractors aren't worth what you pay them.

Sometimes it it better to take the lesser contractors because they are so eager to please and perhaps a little cheaper.

A recommedation is always useful for a contractor. I have heard stories of people who were looking for plumbers but ended up with an electrician trying to fake it.

are these "heard stories" or "remembered stories" ?

  3. i know the exact shop in your picture and he sells some very nice sport bikes in this way :)

    great prices too

I have never run into any problems with my imported bikes but maybe ive been lucky

My friend has a very nice bike that come over as "spare parts " wink.png and he hasnt had any grief over it yet

although if its a 1000cc or larger expect to pay 60 or 80k to make a legal book but you can still save a fortune

    over buying the thai version

  4. theyle be confiscated at the least .........youl be charged with smuggling them if you persist

and keep trying to do it in quantity

can you imagine the tax theyre making in these countries or even the revenue they would lose

if everyone started ordering cigarettes from places where they cost a dollar a pack ?

  5. its next of kins pick-up now

(not yours -even if you paid for it )

i cant understand the logic of guys putting everything in their wife or gf name

and then going through a world of shit when it comes time to sell it thinking they still

own it because they paid for it

all my vehicles and assets are in my name ,its realy not that difficult guys ,in fact ,its

the exact same paperwork a thai fills in + proof of address to register any vehicle to

    a farang

Have some compassion, the man's partner has passed away, and all you can say is how you are so much smarter than him???

Tonybuak, I am sorry for your loss, My deepest condolences.

unfortunately in the absence of a will, the vehicle will go the next of kin.

From the use of the word Partner " I will assume that you were not legally married and that the vehicle was not

    part of community property.

IMO now it all depends on your relationship with the next of kin, if your relationship is good, maybe they will do the right thing and transfer title to you. The next of kin need to be there since you do not own the title.

    Beast of Luck to you

if hes not a troll ,and most people in "general" are thesedays ..........i do feel sorry for him

and im not smarter than anyone ,its just a question of filling in the form myself rather than

leting a thai person fill it in on my behalf

its just when you hear the same story a million times what are you supposed to say ?

i sold recently my car to an american ,fresh off the boat

he hadnt got his paperwork in order yet so i told him its ok,we can wait until the work permit arrives

anyway ,she suggested it'd be faster to put it in her name (new thai gf )........and he agreed

every piece of advice is ignored ,until it goes wrong an they hit the forums

  7. If you escaped came to thailand to get away from a criminal court case and you are eventually caught and deported i wouldnt expect much leftovers to be honest

if you have anything worth taking id imagine the team of thieves police that come to arrest you will divide it up amongst themelves

    (cars ,motorcycles ,gold ,jewelery.cash ,)

while in custody ,police may scam you for whatever cash you can access in return for lessor charges or even freedom but theres no guarantee they would keep their end of the deal

being stuck in jail and giving a thai lawyer permission to access your bank accounts ? was that one a joke ? biggrin.png

+ if youre deported/extradited as a felon you may not be allowed back to thailand EVER ,not sure what they would stamp on your passport on the way out in handcuffs but id imagine it wouldnt be ,come back and visit us when u get out xoxo!

anyone know anyone thats ever been extradited though ? you might get lucky and pay BIB 50 or 100k and go free !

    TIT after all :)

  8. Any suggestions for bike cleaning in Bangkok?

do not use the one on intamara 47

they wash it like car ,spray on wax over 100 % of the bike

your brakes will not work properly for a few days and the seat and handlebars will have a greasy slippery feeling

dangerous to say the least if youre not expecting it

  9. Index point blank refused a refund, said I could buy something else of equal value.

i had a faulty item from index and they asked me to have a replacement or store credit,

i insisted on a refund and they honoured my refund but had to fill in a form with my bank details

and wait 3 weeks for there head office to credit my account.

    Not easy, but doable.

i had a smasung fridge thata went bolloxed after 2 months

    same story

a bit of runing around and eventually re-paid by bank transfer about 3 weeks later

  10. If only we hairless apes knew how dam_n scared snakes are of us, we'd preclude many of these "problems".

what if it doesnt come up the shower drain next time ,what if your sitting on the thrown reading the paper and a poisonous snake swims up and bites you on the sack ?

I personally wouldnt take any chances ,aanimals have rights of course but a possibly poisonous snake in the bathroom of my house only has his " last rites "

  11. Simple fix just take away the 20,000 limit so if you are captured on a overstay of say 60 days 500 bt times 60 = 30,000 bt if you can't pay go to jail untill you can it would take away the incentive to try and cheat the system right now anyone overstaying longer than 40 days has no reason to give them selfs in

this is correct ,leaving the maximum fine at 20k would work out cheaper than doing it properly when you take into account visa runs ,buses, flights ,immigration stamps and taxis + wasted time

it costs 25,000 to get a 1 year ED visa and another 1700 to extend it every 90 days

people will take liberties if they are there to be taken

some of the fines are completely inappropraite

the maximum fine for carrying a concealed weapon (like a flick knife ) is 400 thb IIRC ,what kind of deterrent is that ?
