  1. Here is an explanation for you, sir: you live in a country, where almost all disputes end in violence, because unfortunately, you teach your kids, that problems will just disappear and do not have to be discussed in an adult manor.

On top of that, there are way to many guns in the hands of way too many braindead, professional alcoholics and yabaa addicts.

    It is your bed...

  2. Too many people only see this upcoming shutdown as an inconvenience to their own interests.

No pain no gain is what should be accepted by everyone, that is everyone interested in this country's political landscape changing for the better.

Khun Suthep should be receiving the support of everyone that wants to see a change for the better in Thailand

How can an unelected "peoples democratic coup" make things better, it will disenfranchise the majority of people, but perhaps you have a vested interest in "the good Khun Suthep" because from what I can see IMHO is a thug who will not stop until he has aquired the power he wants by any means and he will fight to the last drop of everyone elses blood to ensure gets it, once he holds power do you think he will ever hand it over to an elected body, no way ! he will always find another excuse to find "reds" under the bed so to speak to ensure the continuation of Suthep as the power broker just like in Russia when the president becomes the prime minister and swaps jobs eevery few years to prove its a democratic process. so manypeople have quoted "power corrupts" in these posts & that is what Suthep wants is absolute irrevocable power to change everything to his advantage, he is now totally out of control!

He doesn't want power - he is standing down from politics after he has sorted the Shinawatra's out and cleaned up the political scene, so how can he, as you are claiming, be seeking power??

It doesn't add up does it!! Seems that you wasted your time with your irrational rant.

Do you actually, seriously and whole-hearted believe this <deleted>?

  3. The road safety attitudes among Thais are pretty much what those were in the West in the late 60's and early 70's. No seatbelts, no de facto speed limits and parents smoking cigarettes like chimneys inside cars, with kids in the backseat. smile.png

It took almost two decades of road safety campaigns before any meaningful change happened. It will take about the same in Thailand. There is also a wealth factor in road safety. The wealthier the country is, the safer the roads usually are.

As much as I agree with most of what you say...there is a little problem: I grew up in the 70's and we could literally play on the street!

    Not that many cars!

Now...take a look outside your window...

  4. This'll work.....just need to start roadside stalls selling amulets.....buy one get one free....way to go..

    They believe this stuff!!

It's almost as ridiculous as a Christian believing that a man named Jesus was the son of God isn't it? Or praying to that god, asking for it to perform miracles.

The difference is, that most of the ones you mentioned ...or at least a big part...tries prayer AND road safety rules, law inforcement, driving tests...

Read post number 23 on page 1.

Yeah...ahm...thanks for the hint, but...are you new to Thailand?

They SAY there will be other measures...and that means exactly what, in this country?

  5. Question: It is my understanding that the Privy Council is the key conduit of information between the His Majesty the King and just about everyone else who has an interest in getting their issues brought before him to obtain his opinion, which is mostly politicians and perhaps big business interest groups. Does anyone have any insight as to what sort of statements are coming forth from the Privy Council concerning the current state of affairs ?

The word is that they are backing Suthep.

    Who told you that................Suthep i suppose , clap2.gifcheesy.gif

You have to get out more.

There are a bunch of articles on that, but they are not easily available in Thailand.

    Now...have a guess, why!?

  7. That taxi driver's brain is in good condition? He rolls up to an angry mob, shouts at them, and throws bottles of red liquid at them? Sent from my Nexus 4 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Which is absolutely and clearly justification enough, for a bunch of guys, going at him and beating him into a pulp...in a land of bratty no-brainers with the moral maturity of 7 year old's!

By the way: I am loosing track a bit of who died, when, where and by what, but may all of them rest in peace!

    This is so senseless!

  8. Peaceful protest! (Yeah, yeah ...in 2010...red shirts thugs...blah blah blah...)

Yes indeed thumbsup.gif and don't forget the fundamental difference. Whatever the red shirts did in 2010, they were fighting for their legitimate right to vote and for democracy.

These protesters are using violence to prevent ordinary people from having the right to vote and are sabotaging democracy. It's disgusting bah.gif

Yeah...maybe...but you didn't get my point!

I dont care, who did what and why...I am just disgusted by the fact, that we measure bad things with worse things.

I dont give a hoot, what happened 2010 and who was worse than who. This guy died TODAY!

In the name of justice, freedom and democracy - in a country that has no clue about either of it!

The taxi driver didn't die he is alive and well, the reports of his death were just more red misinformation...........

Meanwhile, the taxi driver who was beaten by a group of anti-government protesters on Vibhavadi Road yesterday has received hospital treatment.

I edited my post already, as I knew someone would point that out...although his condition is unclear.

And by the way: that doesn't change the validity of my point!

  10. First came here in 1995, being 28 years old, as a tourist and since then every year, sometimes twice, for business/ holidays,as I am working in the tourist industry and was mostly dealing with SE Asia and especially Thailand at the time.

Moved here in 2007, because I lost my job in Germany and saw this as a (last) chance to work abroad and get to know a different culture.

Germany was no nightmare and Thailand is not paradise.

It is a place I often feel good and comfortable in, but I also have some issues with it- just like I most likely would have anywhere else.

  11. So Thaksin gets blood on the streets again.

He knew just what would happen when he sent out a challenge by putting his family at the top of the party list.

And Yingluck cries, but she cries for herself when she be crying for the Thai people.

All she has to do to stop the violence is to resign.

But no, big brother wont let her.

He must know by now he can never come back to this country so the only reason he is doing this to the country must be revenge.

And some on here still defend him.

If you really believe this, you should seek professional help!

This chess- match is not about Thaksin or Yinluck and it never was.

I fear, there will be much more blood, even if she would pack her bags in moves to Outer Mongolia within the next 3 hours!
