  1. If arriving on a non-O visa, what does one put for departure date on the DAC?
  2. They're wearing full military uniforms.
  3. I was slightly pissed off at Zimmerman for being the first I saw to charge >$10 for a show ticket.
  4. Brogan is a portmanteau of "bro" and "bogan".
  5. Any reliable info on the current status of this "law"?
  6. Correct on the 800K. Not being in Thai would be the precise reason a Thai translation is needed.
  7. The same way all science turns out. Models are proposed based on the best available data AT THAT MOMENT, and if they don't accurately reflect what's happening, those models are refined. Our instrumentation, data collection, and much more powerful computers have given us increasingly accurate data and models over the last half-century.
  8. You so smart. Try this one by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Try to determine the sex of the athlete. If you so smart. I used this for years with my Cambridge and IB students.
  9. If ya(godas) heels fit, wear 'em
  10. The translation service we used was a bit rippy, I think. I needed the cover page of my passport translated and I needed 4 copies to attach to various documents. They charged me 4000 THB, 1000/page! At least they did the corrections for free. I think we had 22 pages, with all of the apostilles, certifications, verifications, and obfuscations, so 22K THB for the translations.
  11. Yes to the agent question. Friends also applied through the Thai embassy in MNL. I saw the email from the embassy to them. From her DM to me: Friend sent I just called Manila Embassy Immigration officer explained everything You sentWhat did they say? Friend sentShe said only NON- OA can have the dependent
  12. We ended up at MoFA in Central Festival 3 times. Only once was there anybody ahead of us, and that was only 1 person. Also, my Freedom to Marry was just an affadavit signed by a notary at the US Consulate in BKK. Had to have passport certified, too. MoFA kept refusing the translations, for like, seriously, translating "soi" into "street". Must be "alley", they said. Then a new problem the 2nd time. I asked why they didn't tell us ALL of the needed corrections the first time around. Was told, "Different officer", so very arbitrary. We were also given the run-around when we tried to do it ourselves at Bang Lamung. Told they only give appointments on Tuesday or Thursday, limited to 2 foreigners each day, with a 2-month wait for an appointment. WTF??! Used an agent, and was married a week later. The agent provided the witnesses for both of the 2 neccessary appointments and also picked us up, drove us, and returned us to our home.
  13. Exactly. Went through an agent. Friend in the exact same situation (American on non-O, Filipina wife) applied for the eVisa themselves same day I did and was told they can't do a non-O! Ended up with METV.
  14. Just wanted to happily say that my Filipina wife, not yet 50, received her Non-O eVisa today, based on her marriage to me. I hold consecutive 1-year extensions of my Non-O based on retirement. Happy to answer any questions that I can. We supplied the final paperwork, the tabian baan for the condo that we rent from a foreign national, 5 days ago (Tuesday- now Saturday) after submitting the other documents on February 8. So she now has 3 months, until May 15, to apply for the 1-year extension, but that will be tied to the date my non-O expires, in October of this year, so it will only be a 5 month extension the first time. After that, 1-year extensions on the same date. Thanks to the Thai gov for a nice Wan Valentine's gift. We were married in August last year. Needed: - eVisa application - Photos, same as for marriage regtistration - Copies of my bank statements for the last 3 months. My downloaded copies from my monthly e-statements were sufficient. Didn't require a bank letter and bank-certified copies. - Lease (both our names on the lease). - Copies of passports front page and latest stamps, including her last exit from Thailand and entry to the Philippines, and her BOARDING PASS. I guess that is to ensure that the applicant is actually not in Thailand. - Affidavit of support. - Copies of marriage registration, in both Thai and English.
  15. Well, it's going to be their world soon when we dinosaurs (over 30) are gone. They can decide whether they want to live under peace and prosperity, or under the jackbooted thugs.
  16. I asked this question the last time this was posted, a few weeks ago: Will there be a database that an officer can tap into from anywhere? If not, this GREATLY reduces the odds of a cop being able to elicit a backhander. Even with access to a database, most people checked would not have a warning on file, so, again, no backhander. And what cop wants to bother checking, anyway, for what's most likely, no return.
  17. That 7g ain't gonna get you too far! :)
