Can anyone point me to a thread about the protest at democracy monument today? It seems suspicious that the Thaivisa news team didn't pick up on the fact that democracy monument is currently occupied by pro-democracy protesters. I couldn't find anything in Thailand or Bangkok news forums?

Almost sounds as if he had any say in this. If the big reshuffler (Gen. Prayuth) decides to shuffle, he will; with or without Anutin's "willingness".
You're almost right: Anutin doesn't have a say, but neither has Prayuth.

It is estimated that the airline sold tickets worth Bt24 billion between March and May
I'm not surprised this airline is going under: surely someone in accounting should know the worth of tickets for a certain period?

do I need to take any exams?
No, if you hold a valid driver's license from the US you do not need to take any written or driving exams. You WILL have to watch a safety video and do a colour (say the correct colour), reaction (press down accelerator and then brake), peripheral vision (say the colour), and distance perception (stop one dowel next to another one) tests. Every time you extend your license you will watch the video and do the 4 tests (This applies to Thai and foreign nationals alike).

Here I was thinking that Prayuth was not a member of PPRP when he attended their rallies and spoke on their stages?

Only Thai ones? If you mean that, it's racist.
No, it's not: He's making a hyperbolic remark about a sub-group of Thai truck drivers (Unless "Thai Truck Driver" is a new race that I wasn't aware of) . It's like saying most Swedish farmers have blonde hair and love smelly fish. Now if he said "All Thais are <deleted> at driving and I hate all Thai people", that might lean towards being racist (More xenophobic than racist since Thai isn't actually a race)

Malaysia closed theirs and then Thailand closed theirs later...
And Thailand also denied entry to its nationals that were trying to enter from Malaysia whilst the Thai side remained open (Which is against the constitution). Thailand tried to stop its citizens through requiring fit-to-fly certificates which made boarding planes hard, but once at a border ALL Thais are constitutionally allowed in.

Nothing like a cup of self-righteous vitriol to get the day started. I have to laugh: Yes, there are ignorant people in China, and by sheer numbers, likely more than in other countries, but the comments in this thread have so much pot-kettle-black going it's embarrassing. Have some restaurants denied foreigners? Yes. Does that make it a Chinese policy? No. I have read countless reports during my years of "so-n-so" nationality being barred from services in Western countries too. Does it make it official policy? No. It just proves that there are indeed ignorant people everywhere.
I especially love the "some Chinese who are supposed to be educated" comment. Again, since when has "being educated" made anyone less of an ignorant <deleted>. Just look at the west. I've heard a lot of ignorant <deleted> said by "educated people" - look at this thread.
As someone posted, many foreigners are facing scrutiny (including Asian foreigners BTW - so NOT racist). Some places (like gyms) require a Health QR before allowing entry which is possible to get, but hard to do due to being in Chinese. My friend was denied entry to a gym because he didn't have it - eventually he got it and now he's free to enter. I was once asked by a delivery guy if I had completed my quarantine (shock, horror, indignation) so I just calmly sent him my health clearance certificate. Where I live we have quite a few foreigners (all parts of the world) and so far none of us has had any bad experiences and most people are as amicable and helpful as usual. Now, just because I live at this address in China do I say that ALL Chinese people are extremely polite and helpful? No. Because that would be ignorant (whether positive or not).

The world's most successful country in fighting the coronavirus, Germany, is saying the following:
Just curious as to what parameters led you to this assertion? I know they're doing well, but they don't have the lowest death rates and they've got a very high per capita infection rate.

So many benevolent companies in the world. Another one is being praised for making ventilators (which it will SELL to governments around the world) ???? Well, they're donating 6% which makes them heroes, I guess...

Now, had they just quietly stopped advertising (without advertising online that they were stopping) and just anonymously started donating funds and/or equipment, I would have been really impressed.

From the OP...
Workers covered by the Social Security Fund are not eligible as they can get unemployment benefits from the fund.
I missed that part, but it is still not entirely clear. You only get unemployment benefits if you were working full time and lost your job. My wife, for example, pays into the fund but is not employed by a company (she's a freelancer).

Well, it's not FREE money as some people believe. The money is coming from your SSO account and will be deducted from your retirement eventually.
But more importantly: Where is all the money? Minimum SSO contributions are 400 Baht a month (Even if everyone only paid minimum, they'd be collecting 67 Billion a year?) And why is the scheme going to "maybe" cost over a trillion baht 15k x 14 million = 210 Billion.
Maybe I misread something along the way?

Why the hell did they appoint precisely THIS man (?) as health minister?
Because his party campaigned on decriminalising weed and also not supporting Prayuth. When they effed over their supporters by siding with Prayuth, he was given the health minister role so that he could "deliver" on his weed promises and keep his constituents happy(ish).

If you click Global you will see non-Chinese data. Some countries have a "details" button which will give regional data in that country

Some more stats:

I had another link that had regional maps for the worst hit countries as well as an "infections per capita" chart but can't find it at the moment, sorry.

So what? The virus isn't secreted through skin. I notice many people wearing gloves not using hand sanitiser because they wrongly believe the gloves protect them, yet they go around touching all surfaces and potentially spreading the virus.

So 17 infections were spontaneous? Or are they saying that 17 people were infected at ground zero at the market in Wuhan?

Did you not follow the Future Foward case? Many law experts came out deriding the court's decision. It happens more than you know - people calling out the courts for BS.

And since we compare... why nobody is talking about :
-South Korea
-Taiwan
-Singapore
If you're going to compare South Korea, then you should mention the extreme testing and contact tracing going on there. The same levels as they're doing in China, which is why after a peak, there is a rapid decline in new cases. Many European countries are not testing extensively, whereas a friend of mine has just returned to a virus free area of China (and yes, I know, the Chinese government lies about everything which is why they put their economy on hold over nothing) and they tested every single returning passenger (Chinese and foreign passengers and still placed everyone under 14 day quarantine) These measures are not in place anywhere in Europe at them moment.

what a sarcastic cynical and UNFAIR response to all the Thai ppl and taxidrivers who INDEED did bring lost wallets and money of tourists to the nearest police station. i was lucky enough to have unknown Thai ppl taken care of lost items on several occasions until i arrived back.
I am sure in yr own country this seldom happens, honest ppl bringing a lost wallet to the police, but in Thailand yes its not exceptional.
I don't think anybody thinks Thai people don't return money/lost items. I think Aussie999 was alluding to the fact that here, very often, bad news about Thai criminals cheating tourists is followed by stories of cabbies returning 100,000s of baht to forgetful tourists.
And no, that hardly every happens in my home country. Actually, I don't think I've ever read a story about a taxi driver returning money, because it's not considered newsworthy back home.

Thanks for the link - you saved me a lot of hassle: I was planning a trip in my time machine to 10/02/2018's McDonald's for a burger (the processed cheese was better back then), but now I'll probably go back on the 9th instead.
