  1. And you know that, how? Are NK soldiers involved in the conflict already? And if so, where?
  2. What’s hilarious is that as a non-native English speaker, I understand English and statistics better than you. The UK fire department may have attended to more EV fires in 2023 than in 2022 but that is a meaningless statement in itself without comparing the actual number of EVs in these 2 years. I’m willing to bet that there were zero car fires in 1885, as there were no cars on the roads then. There’s a lot to be gained here, if you can debate intelligently. All points of views are accepted if there is some basis of fact. Unfortunately, there are some posters who are totally ignorant of the facts and for some unknown reasons, hates EVs and prefers to drive, as @JBChiangRai said, vegetable cars. It just goes to show how little they know about driving a vehicle.
  3. By your reasoning, you would feel safer in a 6 wheeled lorry than in the Hilux by virtue of its size and elevated position.
  4. The country is indeed a laughing stock but unfortunately, it’s run by warmongers who’s intent on causing unrest and instability ALL over the world, raising the chances of a world war. Look no further than its 800 over foreign military bases. The intent is clear; to dominate the world militarily. Russia’s SMO in Ukraine is merely a regional conflict in the overall scheme of things.
  5. As Russia and NK have only recently signed a military alliance, it’s good to see NK living up to its commitment, even though it’s only a small token force of a few thousand soldiers. Some reports I’ve read speculate that these forces will be sent to Kursk, Russia, some parts of which is currently under enemy occupation. It is not inconceivable that a western country, using South Korea as its proxy, much like what’s happening in Ukraine, would invade NK so it’s only prudent that the NK army can see first hand how to defend its territory and to repel the invaders. Good foresight being shown by the Rocket Man.
  6. A mercenary is any person who: (a) is specially recruited locally or abroad in order to fight in an armed conflict; (b) does, in fact, take a direct part in the hostilities; (c) is motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a Party to the conflict, material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces of that Party; (d) is neither a national of a Party to the conflict nor a resident of territory controlled by a Party to the conflict; (e) is not a member of the armed forces of a Party to the conflict; and (f) has not been sent by a State which is not a Party to the conflict on official duty as a member of its armed forces. It was confirmed by a poster on AN who has been fighting there that some of the foreign fighters are paid. So it seems to me that yes, there are mercenaries fighting over there.
  7. Being able to charge at home is definitely beneficial and extremely convenient. However some advanced countries like Singapore and China have an excellent public charging infrastructure so much so that many EV owners who can’t charge at home manage quite easily.
  8. According to Ford’s CEO, the Chinese made car that he drives is so good that he doesn’t want to give it up. Imagine that. I would have to say good luck to Ford and GM and other legacy automakers who are unable to make good affordable EVs.
  9. Yes, the charging infrastructure in America is 3rd world, much worse than Thailand so the need for such options.
  10. First off, we do not know for sure if the NK soldiers will be deployed to the front lines to fight or to observe/learn and if they are, we do not know if they will be deployed to Ukraine or to the Kursk region. If the latter, this is, to me, entirely acceptable as Russia and NK has a military alliance to assist each other in the event of an attack on either, not unlike Nato's Article 5. Kursk is after all, Russian territory. Secondly, there are already many foreign nationals (soldiers, mercenaries etc) already on the ground in Ukraine, fighting against the Russians. If it's no big deal for one side, then it shouldn't be a big deal for the other.
  11. America doesn’t need anybody’s help for that.
  12. Tariffs on EVs that doesn’t burn fossil fuels will help…
  13. I’m sure this is case and that countries like China and India has been advised accordingly. 3,000 - 12,000 soldiers is an insignificant number of troops and if you believe Ukraine’s claim of over 1,000 casualties a day, this will make no difference and can hardly be classified a serious escalation. So the question is why is the west playing this up? To try and justify NATO expansion into Asia? To try and justify sending troops (maybe South Korean as they aren’t part of NATO) into Ukraine to hold off the inevitable collapse for a bit longer?
  14. And that’s giving you a range of over 500 kms. Even if you had to pay, what an amazing low cost of operation.
  15. If I read the article correctly, this refers not to adaptive cruise control as such but the Level 2 (?) self driving? In both my Dolphin and Haval, the “self driving “ deactivates after a while if there is no driver input such as pressure on the steering wheel or slight movement. Does anybody know if, other than Tesla, other manufacturers have different systems?
  16. I believe they rotated mine in BYD CM. The car was up the ramp with tyres off. Forgot to ask though.
  17. It’s early days for BRICS so no one can really be sure how it will play out. But the removal of geopolitical and currency risks, unilateral sanctions and ability to trade without using the USD or Swift is invaluable to countries that don’t bend the knee. It is also almost certain that members will enjoy discounted prices. Not much growth in GDP but at least it never went negative like some other G7 countries.
  18. So which EV have you driven/sat in and felt it was a tofu EV? Opinions are fine, nonsense, not so much.
  19. It’s really amusing seeing how some westerners are getting their knickers all in a twist about the possibility of NK troops fighting for Russia. On the one hand, they say that NK is the most backward country in the world and that the soldiers will probably defect anyway. On the other hand, 3,000 NK soldiers in Russia and some are calling for NATO no less to send in tens of thousands of troops. Highly entertaining stuff.
  20. Not too bad considering that until recently, it was still a communist country. The GDP is forecasted to grow 3.8% this year which is multiple multiple times more than than that of the G7 countries excluding USA. Germany forecasted contraction of 0.1% ie -0.1% and USA 2.8%. These are IMF figures, in case you’re wondering. In any case, the GDP of individual countries in BRICS and BRICS+ is irrelevant. Russia is imperative to BRICS as it has massive primary resources that are needed by developing nations, one of the reasons these countries are queuing up to join. Very soon, they will also be in control of that $1 trillion worth of resources in one of their newly annexed oblasts. The future is looking very bright for BRICS.
  21. Khun, you have a knack for such things. Are you able to work out how many “bales of hay “ is required to “power” this horse 100 kms as opposed to the Xiaomi? The cost savings of the Xiaomi must be off the charts.
  22. Seems like anti-EVers love the smell of being left in the dust lol.
  23. Guterres obviously sees that the global sphere of influence is changing towards the BRICS countries which represents the global majority, hence his presence. The Swiss summit on the other hand was a joke and some attendees didn’t even bother to sign the communique.
