Some posters are so desperate for an Ukrainian victory that they completely ignore any negative news and events. On the Kursk front, practically every analyst on both sides have stated that this was a major strategical error. It achieved nothing other than deploying much needed troops who are now stranded and likely to either be killed or captured. This reminds me of a cat playing with a mouse. On the main front, I’ve seen multiple reports of Russian advancement. However, one would be hard pressed to get this news from western msm. It’s almost as if only one side of the narrative is allowed… As a result, many are uninformed and therefore continues to cling onto the Hope strategy. All these isolated attacks on ammo depots etc are nothing more than scoring political points. Pin pricks really. Even the Pentagon acknowledges that these have little to no impact on the eventual outcome. But that’s all the Hope(rs) strategy people have. One poster was delighted with the 7.9 billion new security assistance without realising that this is just a part of the previously approved 61 billion package. Desperate for good news indeed…

I’m a bit confused so would appreciate some clarification. What vehicle do you own? What is the size of the battery and what’s the electric only range? Genuine question.
-
If this correct and he “plugs” in to charge, one wonders whether he actually owns such a car? Unless he means plug in a fuel nozzle so that the ICE charges the small 1kwh or so battery while driving? Lol

Monday nights off peak are good times to charge. Most people probably charge over the weekend, ready for the new work week. I arrived at the charger nearest to me at 22:28 last night and there was only 1 car charging with no one waiting. After he left, that bay was empty for a good 30 minutes. When I left, no one was waiting either. On another note, I noticed that some owners open the bonnet while charging. It does actually seem logical to me as there is quite a bit of heat produced and having the bonnet up helps to dissipate the heat on top of the BMS system.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Gweiloman replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I would expect a 30 kWh traction battery would have an electric only range of about 150 kms or so, unless the truck is fully loaded. As for pickups like the Hilux or Ford Ranger having an economy of 7.5l/100 km, is this while on the back of a tow truck? -

Damn, I quite fancy one. I could annoy everyone around me while I’m waiting to charge my car at one of the free charging stations. Maybe I could even chase away those ahead of me in the queue. -
I, for one, find all these posts about EV sales numbers boring and tedious and adds nothing of value to this thread. While it is technically on topic, I like to think that this topic is more on the pros and cons of EVs vs ICEVs. Just my 2 cents worth.

Chechen Leader Accuses Elon Musk of Disabling Cybertruck
Gweiloman replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Let’s say this is the case (although if you did a bit more research, you will find that LFP batteries don’t easily catch fire). First off, toxic smoke will be released followed by thermal runaway which does burn uncontrollably as you said. However this does not happen instantaneously. Occupants of the vehicle will have plenty of time to casually walk away. Not much of a weapon, in my opinion. -

You really haven’t thought this through have you? Unlike petrol (which is combustible) in a fuel tank, EV batteries don’t “explode”. In any case, I doubt that China has any desire to invade another country. Why own a cow when you can just buy milk? -
Rotterdam Stabbing Rampage Knifeman shouted "Allahu Akbar"

I can’t help but wonder whether some of these fanatics fled to Europe as a result of the west’s interference in their country’s affairs that resulted in war torn and destroyed economies thus forcing them to seek refuge in said western countries. If so, then it’s merely the chicken coming home to roost. -
While the Biden administration has expressed concerns over escalation, this fear is misplaced.Putin has threatened severe consequences That’s right. Putin is bluffing… until he isn’t. Anybody want to take the chance to be responsible for a full blown European war?

Whatever. I’m sure I’m not the only one bored with this number of fires discussion. My ignore list is still a virgin and I would like to keep it that way if you please. -

So why are you even reading posts on this thread, much less actually posting? Surely you’re not some kind of ICEVangelist like EOW, telling us what to do? -

Ok, you win. 90% of EVs catch fire. So don’t buy an EV, ok? Maybe stop talking about EV fires on this thread? Maybe stop talking altogether? Just joking. -
Ending the Ukraine War Before Nuclear Catastrophe
Gweiloman replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Ukraine
As far as I know, twice. One was NATO expansion into Ukraine, the other was use of western long range weapons to strike deep into Russia. Thus the SMO when the first act seemed inevitable and US refusal to give Ukraine the permission for the second act. Seems like the US believe Putin even if you don’t. -

I understand where you’re coming from but that’s the mindset of a non EV owner. Unless you are driving 400-500 kms everyday at relatively high speeds, you almost never have to charge your car during the day (we are talking about decent EVs with a real world range of 400-500 kms, not obsolete EVs like the Nissan Leaf). Then, when you get home, you plug the charger in, much like you would do a pump nozzle and that’s it. No need to stop off at a petrol station, no need to wait around for an attendant to plonk a sign on your bonnet, no need to wait for the car to fill up, no need to wait for payment to be processed, no need to look right (and left for oncoming motorcyclists coming towards you) before joining traffic and driving off. This scenario works for most people. Just yesterday for eg, I set off for Pai from CM with about 95% charge. Had previously only ever done this trip in ICEVs. What a difference in ride quality and smoothness. Immediate response from the throttle, no gear changes, no engine strain especially at uphill switchbacks, hardly needed to use my breaks except on very steep sections. It was a blazing hot day so my aircon was never turned off, even when we were stopped for lunch and later at a friend’s house. Got back to CM with over 30% charge. No dramas whatsoever. From this owner’s perspective, this EV is definitely better than an ICEV. If however range is of major concern, then you should stick to an ICE. You might also want to consider the possibility of adding additional auxiliary fuel tanks to your car or swapping out the OEM tank with a larger capacity one. Or maybe swap to a 6 wheeler which I believe has a range of 1500 - 2,000 kms. -
Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Gweiloman replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I admire your patience in responding to his trollish posts. Anyone who, lives in and drives around most of the major cities in Thailand can see more and more new EVs on the roads. Out of every 10 new vehicles I see in CM, I would say at least 2-3 are EVs. EOW either doesn’t want to acknowledge that or like those who say that there isn’t a decent public charging network, they just can’t see what the real situation is. -

The Urgent Need for EU Expansion: A Strategic Imperative for Survival

The EU should invite India to join with its 1.4 billion citizens. That would give it {the EU) a much needed boost.
