If you let the car charge to 100%, it stops automatically and you just need to disconnect. If before 100%, you “checkout” via the app and it prompts you to scan the QR code to confirm.

My experience is that it’s quite civil. I thought I was next in line but another BYD owner came up and told me he was already waiting before me. I said no problem. He even said if I was in a hurry, I could go first but I declined as I know I needed to have lunch as well. The car charges too fast for a regular lunch stop.

Basically, I screwed up by scanning the QR code to start my charging session instead of just plugging in and waiting for the handshake process to complete in its own sweet time and automatically start the session. So, it seems like no refund is forthcoming. I have my own way of getting back. I’m going to run whatever appliances I can off my Dolphin battery, even during the TOU off peak rate (starting tonight and this weekend) and recharging my battery for free, hahaha (dastardly laugh). I’m also going to drive like a maniac, accelerating off the lights and driving at speeds I’ve not done before (100+ kmh) to use more battery than I normally do and recharge it for free again. I might sit in the car with the aircon on just for the fun of it and recharge again, FOR FREE! I was charged Thb 265.60 due to non-instructions and I intend to get every satang and more back!

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Gweiloman replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
When this thread was initially introduced, the anti-EVers jumped on it with uninformed (or misinformed?) claims about range, charging times, fires etc etc. All of these were disproved by real life experiences, especially from @KhunLA who is probably the poster who has done most road trips. My, and others, own experience is that range is not an issue in the slightest, charging times are significantly less than filling up with petrol and, touch wood, neither my EV or PHEV has caught fire. What I find amazing is why anti-EVers are anti EVs. I’m an EV owner but I’m not anti ICEVs. I just know, from personal experience, that an EV is a better option for me than an ICEV. I am anti diesel vehicles that blows out black, toxic, smelly fumes. No one can honestly say they love the smell (although some retards (can’t name the most obvious suspect but I suspect we all know whom I’m referring to) will insist it’s fine and an example of the “latest” technology as per a recent video). In summary, EV owners prefer EVs over ICEVs as they have owned both but anti-EVers hate EVs without even having sat in or driven one. This is a result of ignorance and lack of education. -
The same way it is bringing down Europe?

Yes. Russia’s stated primary objective was the demilitarisation of Ukraine, not territorial gains as misrepresented by western media. In this respect they are succeeding to the point of even demilitarising Nato.

Do you get the NFC card with the Seal?

At a Bangchak station. Very few options up here in CM at the moment according to the map on the Rever app.

I was also wondering if I could charge my Haval for free using the Rever app. I guess it depends whether VIN information is exchanged during the handshake.

I went to try this free charging at a sharge CS, with mixed results. First, you need the Reversharger app. Download it and register but do not add your vehicle. You do this at the CS. However , you need to add your credit/debit card. I used my Kasikorn Bank virtual debit card. When at the CS, plug it in and scan the QR code of whichever charger you are plugged into. You are then prompted to fill in your “tax information” (name, id, address. I used my Thai wife’s name and id). You are then prompted to add your car. Very important step next. You should be prompted to scan your VIN QR that is on the windscreen. This is to verify that you are untitled to benefit from this program, BYD Customer Privilege. Click on register. If all goes well, you should see a screen showing you that you are registered in this program. I was happily charging away until another Dolphin turned up. He went through the steps mentioned above but didn’t get a prompt to scan his VIN. He started charging and he could see an amount racking up so I suggested he stopped and see if he would be charged. He was, only 20 baht though as he charged for less than a minute. I was wondering if I would get charged as well so I stopped the session. The amount was about 80+ baht but the receipt showed a discount of the same amount so the total was zero. Woohoo! Free charging. So I restarted my session again, just plug and charge. Sadly, at the end of this 2nd session, I didn’t get the discount and the amount was debited from my account. I have contacted support[at]shargemgmt.com for a refund. Let’s see what happens next. Today is the first day of this promotion, it’s not surprising that there will be some software glitches.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

There is no doubt that EVs can catch fire. Then again, so can ICEVs. You said many EV fires. What’s many? 10, 100, 1,000? Out of how many? 1,000 sounds a lot when compared to 10,000 but is not when compared to 100,000 or 1,000,000. -

Yes, it’s true that some people are so dense that they don’t know how to insert a plug into a socket. These people tend to purchase overpriced obsolete stuff. You seem to think that buying a BYD EV is like just ordering something on Lazada where there isn’t a lot of recourse if something goes wrong. In 10 years time, if (IF) the battery needs replacing, I’m 100% certain that this is a much simpler task than replacing an ICE engine and that the cost of the battery will be significantly less than what it is today. BYD is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world today and from a business perspective, they will not leave their existing customers high and dry. -
This has to be the most boring thread on all of AN… Luckily, I had a few minutes to spare as I didn’t have to fuel my car in a petrol station. Amazingly, it was full when I woke up this morning.

Look at Bjorn Nyland’s channel if you want to know how long it takes to travel 1,000 km in various EVs. It’s always worthwhile to educate oneself. -

Japan’s automotive industry is a sinking ship. I would be extremely sceptical of anything they suggest. ASEAN countries are “blessed” with good sunshine throughout the year. Governments should be subsidising solar systems and importing some of the energy produced back into the national grid to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. When you think about it, it makes very little sense to go through all the effort of drilling and extracting and transporting, refining etc etc and finally burning to produce the electricity we all need when we can just harness the “free” power of the sun to get the same.
