Adidas ends Ye deal over hate speech, costing rapper his billionaire status
Gweiloman replied to Scott's topic in World News
Where is the line between freedom of speech and whatever it was that he said? -
Maybe not US involvement but another European country?
-
Very true. But why won’t they tell the world who did it? Isn’t that important for the world to know?
-
So, according to your reasoning, they will not disclose their conclusion (assuming they determined that Russia bombed their own pipeline) to prevent Russia covering their tracks, in case it decides to bomb another pipeline? How does that prevent Russia from bombing, say, the Turkstream?

Russia notifies U.S. it will carry out expected nuclear drills
Gweiloman replied to webfact's topic in World News
The nuclear drills are a simulation for a retaliation, a clear message to Ukraine’s planned use of a dirty bomb. Apparently, it has been successful with all missiles striking intended targets. I hope this serves a strong message to those planning the dirty bomb strike. The world is a safer place thanks to these drills. -
If the information uncovered by Sweden (and others) pointed to Russia’s involvement, then I’m sure the information would have been shared worldwide. Fact that Sweden said it’s too confidential to be shared can only point to US involvement. No two ways about it and confirms what many already believe.

https://www.iaea.org/newscenter/pressreleases/safeguards-inspectors-to-visit-two-nuclear-locations-in-ukraine-iaeas-grossi-says-after-receiving-request-from-ukraine “The IAEA inspected one of these locations one month ago and all our findings were consistent with Ukraine’s safeguards declarations,” said Director General Grossi. “No undeclared nuclear activities or material were found there.” The IAEA is preparing to visit the locations in the coming days. The purpose of the safeguards visits is to detect any possible undeclared nuclear activities and material. The collective west has already rubbished Russia’s claim. And yet, the IAEA will still visit the 2 locations. Wonder why. Rhetorical question. I’m sure the results of the visits will be as expected, much like Nordstream.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Gweiloman replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
On sunny days (of which there’s a lot in Thailand), I run 2-3 aircons downstairs just for the heck of it as it’s free solar power. With a PHEV in the garage soon, I will throttle back and just run the main aircon in my living room if I need to charge up the car ???? -
Any GWM Haval H6 or Jolion owners out there ?
Gweiloman replied to Andrew Dwyer's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I was careful to use the Volvo example which is a claimed 90 km NEDC as the H6 claim of 201 km is also NEDC. I watched numerous reviews of the H6, GWM did a blitz a few weeks back with about 10 cars over a few days for different reviewers. Day 01 was a convoy to Nakhon Nayok, day 02 to Saraburi. Practically all reviewers confirmed a real world range of 150-160 km driving at 100-120 kph. As I tended to drive between 80-100 kph recently due to the high cost of fuel, I’m sure I will get 160-180 km easily. But I might resume my previous speeds of 120-140 since electricity is much cheaper lol. -
This picture is most likely that of an incentive group. They typically number from 200 to 500, stay for about 3-5 days. They generally stay in 4 star hotels that charges around 2,000 - 3,000 baht per night (group discount. Rack rates are usually double that). During their stay, they benefit a lot of ground service providers such as guides, coach companies, Thai restaurants and of course the main shopping malls as well as lots of other vendors.

Unlike the 2 week millionaires who spend most of their time sitting on barstools nursing 50 baht beers, male Malaysian FITs tend to book out expensive karaoke rooms drinking XO or Royal Salute, sitting with coyote girls that charge 1,000 baht per hour just for company. These girls are not interested in ST unless you are willing to pay 10k per shot. That’s why you won’t see many farangs in these history environments but lots of Asians.

Gweiloman replied to Andrew Dwyer's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I was taken aback a little by the price of the PHEV. But when I think about it a bit more, it’s actually much more than just a PHEV. The Volvo XC60 recharge, albeit a more luxurious and powerful vehicle, is double the price at Bht 3.4 million. But it only has a NEDC range of 90 kms, less than half that of the H6. And one doesn’t really need the power, especially on Thai roads. That led me to thinking that the H6 is in fact an EV as well with its 34kWh battery, which is more than some pure EVs. Moreover, it has DC charging which the Volvo doesn’t have. So you can actually consider it an EV with an ICE backup engine lol. -

Here is an independent review about a Chinese made car from a high mileage user. Not a view about resale, just about reliability. I think you will be unpleasantly surprised about his verdict. P/s: the video title is slightly incorrect as it’s not really about the battery. -
Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
Gweiloman replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
DNR = Donetsk Peoples Republic. Not the same as all of Ukraine which is what you tried to imply. -
I didn’t include the link because I couldn’t be arsed. I mentioned France24 so it’s not rocket science. Whether or not Russia has used up 2/3’s of its inventory is any body’s guess. I’m not basing my conclusion on what a journalist says. Fact is that drones are cheaper than missiles. A journalist claiming that Russia has used up 2/3 of its inventory is speculation.

Like I said, AN has strict rules about links and I don’t want to run afoul of them. As to stories being substantiated, links to western funded websites is not my idea of substantiation. It is highly unlikely that any western funded website would post any articles that are not in line with the western narrative.

I believe a lot of the Oz reviews are of the first gen Haval which has a 2l engine which is not available in Thailand. There are also newer reviews of the hybrid model with the 1.5l turbo charged engine which gives better mileage. I have gone for the PHEV but have not received any updates as to the delivery date. It’s promised for no later than end December.
