U.S. Suspends Costly Deportation Flights Using Military Aircraft
pedro01 replied to John Drake's topic in Political Soapbox
They don't need to deport them - just stop paying then handouts -
It is incredible how ill-informed you are.

Lol. I did once - never again! Max 80kg for passengers here - took a 120kg passenger once and it was like steering a fish
-
You ever taken a really fat person on the bike?
-
Been here 26 years - have never needed a pick-up
-
The Toyota Cross looks a pretty good deal to me if you don't want something too big.

The only problem the OP is gonna have. Once you have a car here - it's hard to go back. I lived I dunno - about 9 years in central Bangkok - but last 17 or so have been out by Moo Baan Nakkila or close to Baan Thap Chang station. In Central Bangkok, it was Rajadamri and Ekkamai - we never needed a car till we had kids and then it was just for the amount of stuff you have to carry around. Out in the suburbs - it's really necessary. Loads of great places around - like "Dawn To Dusk" https://www.facebook.com/p/Dawn-to-Dusk-Bkk-100063721536404/ and The Park with it's 4 story gym - not to mention all the new places on the new Krungthep Krita road. Different live - a bit of countryside with the Klongs you can walk around - but useless without a car. I guess it depends what you refer to as "the middle of Bangkok"

The streets here are sadly not quite decent enough!

Polish man arrested for spanking Thai woman’s bottom (video)

Glad you are up to date. You know when you go out - and you put in a call to find out where the roadblocks will be on the way home, so you can have a couple of pints without worry? No - of course you don't. I've been here 25 years - and don't fear the dinosaur sexpats that may abuse my wife or daughter. I fear the mental impact of an assault of that kind on my wife and daughter. I also know the abuser would be dealt with. As for me being number 1 - I put myself on par with all expats here that live a normal suburban family life - but relative to Pattaya sexpats - yeah - I consider those to be a lower class of human. -

Yes - you expressed your opinion. It was "It's a guy slapping a girls ass. She didn't like it. Fine. Sorry.. Bye bye ". "Fine"? Really? That is your opinion? And you think that it shouldn't be called into question? Well now you know that "sorry.. Bye Bye" doesn't always cut it. That it isn't "Fine". That sometimes there are repercussions. Sometimes those repercussions might seem relatively extreme. Simply because you slapped the wrong ass. I am the opposite of being triggered - I'm not the one to cower in a corner at the mention of you guys passing off sexual assault like it's nothing. On the contrary - I just coolly and calmly told you that I intentionally dismantled the future of the last person that did something like this to my daughter. I am merely presenting another side to this discussion that has not been mentioned. That you might slap the ass of a small girl - but you may end up facing her father or brother - and he might be someone as passionate about his daughter's mental well-being as I am. I can assure you - that knowing her dad has her back and that every boy in the school knows that too - well - that's the sort of thing that let's a girl face school again after an assault. It's the ass-slappers that are getting triggered - as well as those, like you, passing it off like it's nothing. Well it is nothing - until one day it's something you can't put back into the bottle. -

Yes - people like you who publicly say it's ok to sexually assault a stranger in 7-11. If that was my daughter - the perp would be eating hospital food. And YES - my daughter was sexually assaulted once by a few kids in school - one was on a scholarship - and he is no longer on a scholarship or at the school. That screwed up his world. His parents could not afford that school, he'd already been scolded for taking a picture up my daughters skirt and showing the other boys. Guess where he is now? Not in an international school, not on a scholarship - just a crappy Thai school. He assaulted my daughter and messed up his life up in the process. I was just the angry dad that made it happen. The effect this has on the girls is not something I'd with on my worst enemy - fortunately my daughter got over it. Never underestimate the father. And you know - one of those girls might have a wealthy dad or a cop dad - and you would be seriously screwed. So yeah - 10 years? Sure? -
You can get a decent 2 seater Z4 M40i for about 5 mill

You are a sex pest then. It is not acceptable to touch a female you don't know in public. I sincerely hope he gets the full 10 years. As a lesson to people like you. -

Need a Thai person to negotiate a used-car purchase
pedro01 replied to Ebumbu's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Call Cris at CT14 - https://www.ct14garage.com/ I know you don't want a supercar but he's English and has a bunch of engineers that could go with you to inspect and suggest a price. He's a lovely guy and has helped me out lots of times without asking for anything in return. In fact - I took him and his wife out on Saturday to RR&B because it was the only way I could part with some cash on his behalf. He'll know people that can help. Note - I scratched up my wifes Z4 M40i - front bumper, rear side bumper and I reversed it into a motorbike. I'd also scratched 3 of the alloy wheels. He fixed it all for 13,000 Baht - BMW would have charged me 100k+ - I guess I got mate's rates - but it shows the kind of guy he is. -
Hi My son just moved out to an apartment close to University. He recently took his drum kit and other musical equipment with him. The drumkit cost over $300k, Other stuff around $100k - I contacted an insurer here who said max was 100k in total - which ain't much use. Now- I can already see there will be 3 type of posters here: 1 - why would you pay that much for a drumkit, is it a BMW - ya de ya de ya. For those of you - go have a kid that's been playing drums for 13 years, plays multiple instruments, sings like an angel and writes and produces his own music and see how you feel about getting him a pile of crap. 2 - Those with musical interests that might want to know about the kit 3 - Those with general advice about specialist insurers If you are in group 1. Do me a favor - don't force me to make you look like a bumbling idiot on here. Thanks With love Pete

Seeking Recommendations for Alcohol Rehab Centers in Thailand

Agreed - depends on your poison. For booze and coke - they knock you out on Benzos for a few days to prevent seizures. For heroin - I think that's a much longer taper off. But the activities and treatments - like CBT - do vary a lot - as do the availability of medical professionals on site. -

Seeking Recommendations for Alcohol Rehab Centers in Thailand

what India doesn't have - me to have the police escort him off the plane to me waiting in my car - me delivering him to the rehab center - me taking care of him for 60 days after rehab (yes, I am an EX addict and I fully understand the headspace he'll be in after just 30 days rehab and that it's the start of a long journey) - me taking him to the airport and having him police escorted to the gate for his trip back to Europe - his family meeting him in Europe where he can continue his journey UK doctors have refused to put him through detox prior to the flight. He says he'll taper off prior to coming - but he's an alcoholic. So whilst he is willing to come - we can't trust him waiting for a flight at the airport in UK - there's bars there! Post rehab - my experience was an inability to focus for a long period of time. Of extreme muscle and joint issues getting moving again. He works in the building industry - mostly on the finishing side and so the plan is to give him a purpose while he's here - to help us renovate the house as much or as little as possible - maybe new kitchen cupboards, maybe wallpaper and painting, maybe new bathroom - whatever he can manage - but something with purpose that will help regain his dignity. We'll also use the time to re-establish lost relationships - many people I've spoken to want nothing more than to see the person he once was again. That means rebuilding bridges he thought he'd burnt and that I've since found he hasn't. So - Thailand is a good place. He wont have money in his pocket at any point and he's agreed to that - he doesn't know the place - he's agreed to 90 days here and 60 of which are at our house - with the blessing of my wife. We'll go on walks and eventually runs and swims. We'll do temples and Lopburi and stuff like that - but mostly - he'll be recovering his health and dignity. What we don't want - is him going back to his home town and his family are all in Spain and can watch over him as he continues his recovery journey. What we also don't want is him sitting in a bunch of meetings where he'll be counting the days since his last drink and being told he's an addict forever - that's bull<deleted>. It's like a toxic relationship - you leave because it is damaging - but the love is still there. Once you fall out of love with your poison - you are no longer addicted and in a state where you'd rather eat <deleted> than go back to it. Of course - that is my lived experience and the best I can do is guide him through it - the rehabs I have spoken to so far think it's a wonderful idea. -
Hi everyone, I’m reaching out to seek advice and recommendations for a close friend of mine who is struggling with severe alcohol addiction. He’s been drinking heavily for over 15 years, and his health has reached a critical point. His family and I are working together to help him recover and rebuild his life. We’re currently considering rehabilitation centers in Thailand, as we believe the structured and supportive environment here could be what he needs. However, we’re also mindful of costs and want to ensure we choose a facility that provides effective care without unnecessary luxury expenses. We’ve looked into some options, including Wat Tham Krabok, but we’re concerned about the "cold turkey" approach and potential health risks. We’d prefer a medically supervised detox and a program that focuses on both physical and emotional recovery. If anyone has experience with rehab centers in Thailand—whether personally or through friends or family—I’d greatly appreciate hearing your insights. Specifically: Recommendations for rehab centers offering affordable but high-quality care. Your experiences with specific facilities—positive or negative. Estimated costs and what’s typically included in the program (e.g., accommodation, meals, therapy). Advice on what to look for when choosing a rehab center and any potential red flags. Our plan is for him to spend 30 days in a rehab center, followed by a 60-day stay with me in a quiet area to continue his recovery in a supportive environment. His family intends for him to move permanently to Spain afterward to avoid triggers in his current UK environment. I’d really appreciate any guidance or recommendations from those who have been through this process or know someone who has. Thanks so much for your time and support. Best regards, Pedro
