  1. Sure you can but you could end up in jail 2x4 upside the head lol
  2. Hey the bar girls are not all stupid. Most of the young ones do it for the money and to see if they can snag a rich farang to look after them. The middle-aged ones realize that they can't do this for the rest of their lives and need something else. So they find a boyfriend or husband. I had one girl tell me that she would be mine and look after me, but she wanted 20k a month.
  3. Part of the problem is not having insurance. Even when you do, it is hit-and-miss. The companies don't want to pay. They will nickel and dime you to death or drag their heels. International companies are all the same. The coverage is there, but there are so many loopholes. Also, a lot of them will reimburse you, but you have to pay upfront and get the money afterward.
  4. Been here 15 years and every time I get the itch to get a motorbike a story like this pops up.
  5. The challenge for a lot of people is that the law seems to be 2 separate laws There is the Thai law and then there is the we want tourism law. Thai law is established in areas with predominantly Thai people. Patpong is in the SalaDeng Silom area, so it is deemed to be a Thai working area. Yes, I know there are many businesses around Suk, but it is predominantly a tourist-rich area, and businesses there are more dependent on tourists than Thais. Even in NANA, you have to take into consideration when and what the tourists want. Hence you have a lot of the bars on the street open early, but the Plaxa itself, due to the clientele, is not open until after 5 at the earliest. Cowboy, the bars are open earlier, but the actual girls and goings-on are not until later. The challenge outside the city is that most Thais drive or ride to the bar to drink. That is where the issue arises. I actually think that the hours work, In a strange way because if youwant a beer there are places that are selling or you just have to go to 7/11 Lotus or tops when it is legal buy your poison and go home and drink it. What throws me for a loop is watching people in the middle of the day walking along the street with a big bottle of CHANG in their hands. Someone, please tell me a country where this is legal.
  6. Bottom line to all this is that life in Pattaya is just the same as at home. You don't go out and get sh!tfaced. Taxi drivers take one look and think there is a problem: either loud a\gressive or at least is going to puke in the taxi. Also the fact that he was not able to tell anyone where he lived is interesting. Might have been a better idea for the bar to put him on the street and call the police to come get him. A few years ago, I had a guy in the same condition in PATPONG. I tried to get him to go to his hotel on the upper scale at the end of the street. He was not interested and wanted more to drink. Finally, a couple of the bar girls convinced him that they were going to take him to his room for a good time. I got him to the hotel, and the hotel staff had to take control from there.
  7. The thing that's interesting is some places they sell liquor at 10 am. In others they wait untill 5. Instead of new laws why try a novel idea enforce the ones on the books
  8. The easiest way to educate is for police to enforce the rules. The basr place to start is outside schools. Limit the number of kids on a bike. Mandate helmets and if jids aren't wearing them confiscate the bike until they show up with a helmet and purchase receipt That is where you will make the most impact pulling somchai over slapping his wrist is not going to make a point.
  9. The challenge ynot that it wit increase prices but that more of the empty units will get purchased. Companies in lam lukka are lowering their prices to try to sell. Then I go to phrom pong and see a new building advertising 70 mil
  10. Yeah, I am drastic, but again, they are selling illegal products and breaking the law. I thought Kartom was an illegal drug. It isn't, but again, if they impound the vehicles, it will make people think before they break the law further.
  11. No but if you want to stop the problem then you need to do it. In any other country if you break the law with drugs or illegal activity you are arrested and anything that is thought to be a product of the crime can be confiscated. If these people are selling illegal substances then they are breaking the drug law. Therefore, anything they have at the time and any equipment or product that they are using at the time of arrest is subject to seizure by the courts and police. Therefore it is not russia Hell do it there and you are never seen again. What I am saying is that there are laws. If you start enforcing them, along with plains-clothes patrols like they do to check out the bars for underage talent, then you will clean it up. If you slap them on the bum lightly and say bad boy or girl, that is not going to stop them. They will just add the fine to the cost of doing business and will be right back out there. NANA is getting back to it's old self with the people setting up bars on stools.
  12. Not just confiscate but destroy all products, including the stalls. The vans and trucks are the big thing. Confiscating them, impound them, and just sending the vehicles to be destroyed will slow them down. Lock the offenders up for the night and fine them as well as confiscating htemoney they have with them so they cannot use that to pay the fine
  13. Are they not having a flooding issue with a city that sinking. Am I missing something
  14. 100 baht. Talk about not thinking it through
  15. To bad there wasn't an elite candidate. Thaksin seems to be riding the rail with a leg on either side. He better be careful or he might get a splinter in a very bad spot
  16. The only way that they can curb this is to have unanounced spot checks and having people go in and check every once in awhile.
  17. actually it is impossible if they spell the name the same and use the same characters. Then again maybe he has a split personality. One is the old broad that wants to get out and the other is the old guy that wants to get laid. Maybe they should see a shrink so he can introduce them to themselves.
  18. Even if you can do the exchange I think unless yo do it at the main bank for whichever you choose you will have to come back to the bank as I doubt many banks holw SA currency. Againa s you have been advised get USD and then exchange it when you get there JUust exchange enough at the airport to pay for what yo need do not do your exchange there.
  19. T I T they arent even outlining the area. Do they expect people to drive to morchit and get on an already overcrowded train. There is a way to cut downit is called raise the price of parking.
  20. I use 3-4 star hotels and find that the service I get is just as good as the 5 star. The difference in a lot of cases is simply the name on the marquee. The buildings are newer shiner and have nicer amenities. I think the diferenceis that the 5 star is that they are international brands. It is just like macDonalds and other international brands. People know what they get in their home country and want to be quaranteed a great stay. As to bookings 3 star hotels need to be advertising to Thai's and outlining nicer things. A lot of people just want to kmow that they are going to get an enjoyable time. Then again you have Thai hotels that renovate and because they do jack the prices (thin Montien in Silom)
  21. How the hell do you collect is what I can't figure out. Somchai drives to Silom to drop and pick up his daughters at St josephs. Somchai gets a bill in the mail that says he has to play and throws it away or cannot pay the extra fee. How are they going to dtop Somchai. Also what percentage of teh fee colleted is gong to innfras\tcture adn how much to pockets.
  22. School girls at the age of 14 in thailand are having sex. If they aren't nice to the boyfriend he will ddrop themand go to a diferene girl. Peer pressure is huge.
  23. But the key was that gas was cheaper heating your home was cheaper and people were finding good jobs in the market producing NG and other fuels. No matter what life was better under TRUMP and under Biden it got worse. The fact that Trump had a plan and could artivulate it while Kamala kept talking about the story and her upbringing. never articualting a plan to reverse the economy to reverse high immigration to stop cities fromspending money on illegal refuges and start spending it on the people that were American and living there. Along with saying that everything they did was great and there was nothign she would change killed her. Now we hear in themedial that she went through 1 billion Plus Pqaid ce3lebrities to appear with her and left teh DNC in debt. Is that a person that you want looking after your wallet. To me it is like giving the GF'wife 100,000 baht to buy thngs and her coeming home telling you that she got almost everything but she hgad to use the d\credit card for a further 30K and oh yeah I was not able to get everything done so can yougive me moremoney.
  24. no they don't most hjave girls that shuffle their feet in place
