  1. Kelvin ... welcome back ... I've really missed you.

    How are you?

What have you been up to?

I actually am a qualified electrician (truely) ... but I only recently left Thailand so can't help you personally with this one.

You do get around a bit ... where are you now as that will help with the electrician choice.

You might wish to employ a local (Thai) electrician though as they have lots of unconventional ways to solve your problem.

    All the best

    Hi David,

i miss u too. I'm glad that you willing to waste your couple of minutes replying my post haha~

  2. Someone told me that in order to support multiples of electric bbq steamboat (1400w/220v) need to change the electric power to 30amp. And for normal usage, the white electric cable will do. But if need to support at least 20 sets of bbq steamboat and other electric stuff need to use the black cable (grade 4) as it will generate the electric flow smoothly and also for safety reason. I'm not sure what that black electric cable is. Anyone know is this information accurate. Or just need to upgrade the electric power 30amp go along with the normal white electric cables will do? pls advise, tks~~

  3. Hi, i have signed up a home 3BB broadband internet. 10mb/per month. As i am using it with my iphones, ipad and laptop, i give them a wireless router which i bought in BKK. They set the wireless router for me. It is working well for my desktop and macbook (using wireless) but not my iphones. My iphones shown is connected to the wireless but it can only work for emails. But other usage like playing the apps, facebook is not working. it will always in loading but nothing comes out. Does anyone know where goes wrong? Did the staff set the router wrongly?

  4. You can make decent money at the markets here, a few years ago my wife and i used to sell childrens clothes at the markets around Pattaya, small jeans, shorts, t shirts etc. we were buying the items from the manufacturer in Bangkok at 12 to 17 baht per piece and then selling them at the going rate of 29 and 39 baht each. These are the sort of items that people (mostly women) would come and buy 10 or 20 pieces at a time!

We went to a different market every day, 4-5 hours work and we were making around 3000 - 3500 baht clear per day ! Sometimes a lot more if we went to one of the temple fairs or all day markets. As there are many daily markets in and around Pattaya we never had to travel far, renting your pitch ranged from 40 baht to 200 baht per day/evening.

Only problem was the rainy days - not good when you are trying to sell cloth items!!

On the whole though quite easy money actually, and good fun, don't be fooled thinking market traders don't make much!wink.png

Yup it is quite fun. i went few times helping my wife friend. The fun is going around different places, meeting friends who are also vendors, have some leos, chill. But the tiring part is when you set up and close your stall.

  5. Hi there Khun Kelvin.

The street shop owners do earn a meagre living.

Makes it all wonder if it's worth while to conduct business at all.

Have you or your partner ever have a shop/stall as you describe in your OP?

Hi David, i do not have. My wife friend happen to be selling clothes at flea market in her own province area. Just wondering does they really can earn a decent living? Or praying hard every each day?

  6. Kelvin. You would be surprised, how much money vendors can make in a market. I know from personal experience, worked 15 years in a big market in my homecountry and never had so much money going through my hands. It is the many small sales with big margins, that make you rich!smile.png Sometimes people asked exactly the same question as you: "how can you make a living out of this?". Little did the customer know, that the poorly dressed guy in front of them, probably was making 5 times as much as they were, with very little taxes paid because it was difficult to check!!

Both me and my collegues drove expensive private cars, which we ofcourse never showed anywhere near the market. All in the name of keeping a low profile.

I am sure, that it is no different in Thailand, so your "poor" vendors probably lives in a nice moo-baan in BKK's suburbs with a Benz in the driveway! thumbsup.gif

    hmmm.. true...

  7. I noticed people are doing biz selling food, apparels, appliances, etc. They dont earn really much after deducting cost of the stocks, daily expenses and gasoline. Only during festival period may earn slightly better in that month. I'm wondering how do they actually survive? I don't think they can save much or not at all. Yet i see many of them having good sound system in their 2 door pick up, few drinks of LEO. Just wondering how do they live.. Pls leave comments and share with me. Thanks

  8. The good news is that all the information you require is here:

    http://bangkaew.com/

    T

The bad news is that it`s all in Thai.

Try going into the forum via Google translate.

    +1

Bangkaew farms in Phitsanulok, you can see number telephone and e-mail address in the website.

    http://www.mudangbangkaew.com/

    http://www.kamolchai...data_type=Puppy

    Thanks for the info! smile.png

I have browsed the website, going to call them in next few days. Hopefully they have purebreed bangkeaw puppy right now. Any idea how much for a puppy?

  9. Hi Kelvin, Speaking from Phitsanulok, I have never come across an adoption centre here and I know Phits quite well. That said, doesn't mean there isn't one.

There are a multitude of Bangkeaw farms and breeders here, as I'm sure you could imagine, but apart from local advertising, ie. roadside signs, I have never seen them on the internet, but again, have had no reason to look.

If you have the choice of buying instead of adopting, then you may want to think about a visit up to Phits for a few days and have a look about. If you don't speak Thai, make sure you have a Thai speaker with you.

Edit: If it is not pedigree that you are looking for, I don't think they would be that expensive from source. Also, I am assuming that you know the dogs reputation for being extremely loyal and protective and territorial agression comes with the package. Lovely dogs but not for everyone!

Hi, thanks for replying my post. Well, i am willing to buy a bangkeaw puppy if the option of adoption is out. Do you have the farms exact location or contact no for me? My wife can communicate with the farmer. I would like to have my own dog pet and since i want to, my wife say ok but she want a bangkeaw dog. I told her about it's character pros and cons. She noted as her step dad has been bitten by his own bangkeaw dog twice. But she like the dog. In this case, need to get a puppy to train easily. Hopefully I will find one controllable wink.png please do let me know the contacts (if you know),i will going to phits in 1-2weeks time. smile.png Thanks!

Sorry, haven't got any contact information at present, but can keep an eye out. I can ask the girls in the office for you as well. As stated earlier, there are (local) advertisements all about. If you are travelling up (or down) here, keep an eye open for them in case I don't come through. I will likely be on the road next week.

    Sure, thanks! :)

  11. I don't know, I only read that Chamlong is taking care of thousands of dogs in his Buddhist Santi-Asok community.

Maybe Google can do something with this information??

tried to google it but not really with much info. anyway thanks.

  12. For the car,I myself want to buy because I have stay with the family for some time.

BUT, you were asking about getting the tax rebate on the car, which means it won't be in your name, which means it won't be a car for you, it will be a car for her.

I know several guys daft enough to put a car in the gfs names (OK things are great now), when the gf goes, so does the car.

I also know several guys who set up family business, they never see any of the money, that's even if the business doesn't go belly up in less than a year, which is usually the case.

Don't give them large wedges of cash, don't buy cars in anyones name except your own, don't buy or build a house.

The more you give her, the less she will like you and the shorter your relationship will be. That's just how it works for most of us/them.

I will keep in mind. As for the car, initially browsing through the Honda website, saw this first car scheme 100,000 bt rebate. Thought foreigner can apply it so I posted in tv to confirm about this deal. So now I know it apply to Thai only, well I will still buy under my name without this 100,000 rebate. :)

  13. Looking at your other post (300,000bht)

Buy a second-hand pickup for about 150k, mum will find it very useful in her new business.

Make sure you register the car in your name, don't believe anyone that says you can't.

Yes,I will keep in mind. Thanks

  16. As poolhustler has said, it is for Thais only and you get the rebate after one year. You cannot then sell thecar for five years.

I believe the offer is supposed to end this coming October, and if you want to take advantage of it, you better get moving. With waiting times for most cars you will likely need to be lucky to get something in time. You probably can, but your choices will be limited.

We ordered our Honda at xmas, and after lots of phone calls to the dealer, we've finally been able to pin them down on an approximate date, which is between July 1st and 10th. There were obviously problems with the factory during floods, we knew this when ordering, but still a crazy wait.

    Good luck.

    No rebate for foreigner?arg!! Boring..

I'm buying Honda city. I will be in Thailand in July. Will I able to purchase and collect on the spot in July?

Kelvin, didn't we have this exact same conversation by pm a few weeks ago. Nothing has changed. I'm still waiting for my City and it has been on order since late December. We now have now been given a delivery date of July.

Your chances of getting one on the spot are beyond wafer thin. But TiT, so give it a go.

Oh ya.. My memory is bad.
