  1. Probably the UK. If a person is living in any country, has no criminal record, behaves themselves, and working or having regular funds sent and contributing to the economy, why not just leave them alone instead of all this visa and visa run nonsense?
  2. If you don't want to break any laws in Thailand, just stay in your bed, or don't forget to put on your underwear. Just because something is against the law does not always mean that it is right.
  3. Only police above a certain rank, (don't know which one there are that many) can ask to see your passport.
  4. Would that not mean that the brown envelopes will be going in the opposite direction?????
  5. What is a cue "sport"? If it is what I think it is, just like darts, although there is some skill required, it cannot be called a sport as there is no exercise involved. If you see grossly overweight guys taking part in anything, do not refer to it as a "sport".
  6. I can't even let a man touch me let alone massage me. Quite a few times over the years in a store I have brushed salesmen off me for even touching my arm. In Pattaya a few years back an Indian tailor grabbed me as I walked past his shop, I physically grabbed him and pushed him up against the wall.
  7. Yes, then maybe all these price increases will be back to normal again.
  8. In public, after a drink, people can be a bit tipsy, for your benefit, I'll explain, that means walking properly, not bothering anyone, and not stepping out on the road without looking etc, no problem with that. Incapable, drunk to such a stage that he is staggering, bumping into people, shouting insults at them, not looking before crossing the road etc. If you want me to explain the "etc's" I won't bother. Is that plain enough for you?
  9. You would let another man massage you????
  10. Yes I think you are right, my bank is up country. If it is true then there is no limit to how banks in this country steal from us. Taking 1,600 is nothing more than theft.
  11. I know where you are, my agent takes me to a Bangkok Bank on the road to Jomtien, I think it is Second Road. The different agents will use different branches of the Bangkok Bank and probably other banks too.
  12. Yes, it looks like another way for the banks to make money from you, it never ends.
  13. No, not opening a bank account, I already have one in my own province, when I renewed the agent asked me for it at the bank, so I checked with another agent and they confirmed it. I suppose I may have misunderstood and it is only a one off thing. I hope so.
  14. This is a new scam, probably by the bank, it is now paid at every renewal over and above your normal fee, all the agents are doing it now including Mannareet.
  15. I am a teetotaller, but I do not think alcohol should be banned as long as it is used sensibly, though I would come down hard on those who are found to be drunk and incapable in public.
  16. So that means that me, already being on retirement extensions, can go to Manareet when my present ext'ns finish and start paying 12,000Bt annually plus 1,600Bt bank charge from the beginning?
  17. I am just back from the gold shops in Chinatown, I tried 4 of them, and each one refused to accept payment through my Bangkok Bank app, I went to a Bangkok Bank to draw out over 200,000 Bt. They wanted me to pay 280Bt for this, I know that there is a charge for drawing money out of province, but that is just taking the p!ss. Same as being charged over 200Bt for drawing cash with a UK debit card which started some years ago. I just refused to do it.
  18. Good point. It is not always their fault the way they were born, and in most cases with very little common sense, I just passed three small children this morning, the oldest one who was driving no more than 12 years old. This is not uncommon here up country with stupid parents giving the keys of their motorbikes to their young children.
  19. The best driving I ever came across was in America.
  20. As safe driving requires lots of common sense, Thai drivers and motorbike riders will always be at the bottom of the pile.
  21. The annual fee of 12,500bt is correct, but I stand to be corrected here, don't you first pay 26,000bt for 15 months then go on to the annual fee of 12,500bt for every year after that?
  22. That's a great help, I should not have a problem finding a suitable gold shop in Chinatown. Thanks.
