  1. That's one of the problems with going to the cinema, they advertise the wrong starting times then ply you with adverts. Back home I video taped anything I wanted to watch on commercial TV so I could run past the adverts.
  2. They used to have a live chatline, I am not wasting my money on a phone call to be answered by someone in India or somewhere who usually has poor English.
  3. "There's no such thing as a "free" vaccine." Well there is in other countries, so why not Thailand? Is there no end to certain people getting rich from this pandemic?
  4. I agree entirely, so why the sad emo? I can only assume the poster has his/her own interpretation of a sad emo.
  5. Death penalty is fine, I agree with it 100%, but you have to be very careful when charging someone, have to be 100% certain they are guilty, I am not sure about the ability of the Thai police and their justice system in the courts.
  6. Mosquitoes ???? Be careful with these zappers, if it's the ones you attach to a computer, and are from America, do not buy, they are completely useless.
  7. Just keep the biggest bulk of your money in your home country bank and keep enough money here in Thailand for your living expenses. If you want to apply for retirement extensions, use an agent and forget this 800.000Baht in your bank nonsense, don't be a member of the "scared of your own shadow" brigade.
  8. Just not the one at the top of South Pattaya Road.
  9. Paying all that money to use gyms is pure lunacy, unless you are on steroids and want to look like an over muscled monkeyman, surely the best ways of keeping fit are using you own home gym, or cycling, running, swimming. there is also exercise parks all over Thailand, although in my village/small towns case, these machines are not maintained, and when the break they are just left to rot.
  10. "Thailand sure isn't a third world country." How right you are, it is even worse than that, they have an unelected government full of tinpot soldiers who could not even run a bath never mind a country.
  11. I would never trust Lazada, why did they do away with their live chatline and now only have a virtual one where they put the questions themselves. so the answer you want, you cannot get.?
  12. Are the Newsletters now down to one a day? That's the third day I have only had one a day. Is there not one in the afternoon now?
  13. The GF experience would never have suited me, I was too used to girls back home wanting to go with me just because it's me and not for my money. Imagine renting a girl and walking about hand in hand with her when she is probably looking forward to the end of the rental time.
  14. "but I spend 80% on p_iss ....". That's very obvious looking at your avatar. ????
  15. I always enjoy these types of topics no matter how many, there are always plenty of newbies, and they are entitled to find out all they can before they come here, and there is no better place than here on TVF/Asean N.
  16. It's not the money so much, it's all the hassles with immigration, unless you use a reputable agent, it has got steadily worse since the military took the country by force in 2014.
  17. I am not saying that this is really true, but as I understand it, most Chinese men do not frequent the bars.
  18. Thailand will never recover from the likes of businesses getting hit hard, among other negative things like tourism etc, as long as coups are allowed to keep happening. More than half of my time living in Thailand, has been under military rule. It seems that there is always some general or like decides he wants to get richer, he gets other generals to back him up and the country is again under military rule. I don't see this ever changing in the near future, maybe until the present young Thai people see through everything that has been happening in the past and really do something about it.
  19. "Economy already teetering since 2015." That's very true, it is not that long after the unelected PM stole the country in 2014 that things really got steadily worse ie, the visa changes making it harder for long stay tourists under 50 who did not want to get married etc, etc, to come to Thailand. As for how long the country will take to get back to a real normal, that's with most Thai people to be back in full employment. I think it will depend on how long it will take for a democratically elected government to take over.
  20. Along with the definition of "normal" by the OP, the opening of most bars, restaurants, hotels, gyms etc, maybe you are right, about a year from now.
  21. If that's what makes you happy then that's fine, but if I have any distractions, I just hit the pause button, then get back to my movie, can't do that in the cinema.
