  1. To be clear -- these studies report results in labs, on samples of cancer cells, and in animals. There are no studies yet of use to treat prostate or any other cancer in humans. That is more than a small detail. Many drugs -- in fact most - drugs that look promising in the lab and in animal studies, fail to prove useful in clinical treatment of humans. Hyping something before it has been fully tested helps no one.
  2. No, it most definitely is NOT. Actually read the scientific articles. they talk about "possible", "potential" etc. based on findings from animal studies and in vitro studies on cancer cells. It has not yet been studied in actual human patients. That may come, but is still a ways off and results of such studies, further off still. Long way from being a standard treatment. Not yet even an experimental treatment. It is extremely misleading, and potentially harmful, to spread the idea that this is an established treatment.
  3. I think what has changed is the proliferation of social media. ..and what people post there.
  4. Most things that show anti tumor effects in vitro or in animals ultimatrly fail to prove effective in treating cancer in humans. Research on use of ivermectin and other antiparasitics for cancer is still in early stages (in vitro and animal studies). It is far too soon to know if it will be effective in treatment if cancers in humans (and if so which cancrrs and in what dosage etc).
  5. Suggest you see Dr. Chanakarn at his private clinic. He has privilages at a few hospitals so if he concurs the surgery is necessary and is able to do it, can set it up. https://chanakarn.com/
  6. Another flaming post has been removed. OP has already obtained what he needed. And clarified that he owns a home BP machine but forgot to bring it and is in Thailand temporarily so understandably doesn't want to buy another one. Thread closed.
  7. Yes, definitely. Hardly any foreign retirees in this province, the few foreigners here are all working. Provincial RD did not even know/believe there is such a thing as retirement visa/extension. But, this is where I live and I am not the only board member residing in the sticks where there are few expats.
  8. Actually current thinking is that sugar substitutes -- including stevia -- damage the gut flora and are best avoided. Or at least minimized.
  9. Nexium is expensive because imported. As previously mentioned omepraxole has same action and is very inexpensive as available in local brands. Omeprazole and esomeprazole are closely related chemicslly. Basically esomeprazole is newer "tweaked" version of omeprazole. It has some advantages but for most people omrprazole does just as well.
  10. Bickering posts and a post that included misinformation have been removed. Ivermevtin is approved for use in humans in Thailand for certain parasitic infections (e.g. strongoloides) though other drugs are more commonly used. The locally made brand is called Vermectin. I doubt it is very expensive. Research to date has failed to show in vivo effctiveness against any virus despite earlier in vitro findings.
  11. Sane as listed above
  12. A flaming post has been removed.
  13. Thus was a few years ago. After that I stopped trying to claim ghe witholding back. Office = Prachinburi. No assessable income. I had to show years worth of credit advices proving remittances ftom abroad. The issue was they did not believe I did not work in Thailand. Endless demands for the "work permit" I do not have and complete incomprehrnsion when I pointed to my retirement extension. Many very personal and intrusive questions.
  14. By "social insurance" do you mean Social Secutity? If so then the hospital is she registered at under SS would be where to obtain ablation or surgery if indicated. (If she gets consultation with Dr. Jun get her recommendationd in writing). Which is that? And why does she stay registtered there if now living and working in Bangkok?
  15. The fibrosis would be down to your past smoking and then the recent chest infections. Not dengue per se, though run down condition post dengue might have made you even more susceptible to a chest infection, (something COPD already put you at risk for). Fibrosis in early stages cannot be seen on Xray. And symptoms are similar to COPD. Dysohagia alone would not have necessitated oxygen. More likely the sensation of dysphagia was coincident. Reflux (common cause of dydphasia) frequently accompanies pulmonary fibrosis, which can cause hypoxia.
  16. Last time I filled out form to get interest witholding back it led to 2 full days of inquisition at provincial tax office and having to submit copious documentation going back many years. My replies were definitly not consideted sufficient. ... and that was back before the rule about remittances was modified.
  17. I would add to that, they apparently no longer allow online 90 day reporting for the first report after entering/re-entering the country. So even if you'd thought of it, you might not have been able to report online.
  18. Since the Thai tax form does not provide any means of declaring nion-assessable income, and there has been no indication that will change, it makes zero sense for people without assessable income to submit a Thai tax return. You'd have to show 0 income, which would surely lead to questions/problems. I tend to agree that people with assessable income remitted into Thailand would do well to submit a return for 2024 even if - -as will be true for many -- they end up owing no tax. (For those whose income is taxed in their home country, this is assuming the TRD does in fact amend the forms to allow people to claim a credit on taxes paid abroad). But not people without assessable income , IMO (e.g: people whose only remittances are US Social Security, or savings from earnings prior to 2024).
  19. The best specialist is at Bumrungrad, and a simple consultation will not cost that much -- likely around 2,500 baht plus labs. If you want, can get the labs done first at a laboratory - she needs thyroid panel, unless one has been done recently, and AST/ALT (liver enzymes). Bria labs is good. https://www.brianet.com/en/labolatory/. If Dr. Jun recommends an ablation procedure or surgery then check back with me as that would indeed be costly at Bumrungrad. To be clear, when you say "Thai insurance" do you mean a private health insurance? If so, which company and policy? Does it explicitly exclude care at Bumrungrad? Or do you mean Thai SS or universal cover. Is your daughter a Thai citizen?
  20. Might very well affect supplements. Thanks for the heads up...got in a quick order for Kirkland Fish Oil.
  21. Zenni as above is best option. Not based in Thailand but will ship to here.
  22. Arm should be level with the heart. That is not usually an issue with the hospital machines but calibration often is.
  23. It could be from several causes, most of them leading to a drop in cardiac output. It is essential that you see a doctor soon for further investigation. Are you on any medications? Any history of heart disease? Any unusual fluid losses (sweating, diarrhea) prior to this?
  24. 3 tabs a day, spaced at least 4 hrs apart, is OK unless you have impaired liver disease. I'd take the 3 doses until you are feeling OK then try decreasing to 2 doses spaced 8-12 hours apart. If that isn't tolerable then you'll have to revert to tramadol capsules and divide contents in half to get 25mg. You can get empty gelatin capsules on Shoppee or Lazada. You are making this unnecessarily for yourself difficult by not consulting specialist.
  25. There are medications which can help with withdrawal as previously mentioned. These are largely not pain killers but will help control withdrawal symptoms. However this is not something to do ond your own, it is complex. You need to see a physician specializing in addiction pyschology. There is an excellent one in Bangkok. If you have already switched from 3 × 50 mg tramadol to 3 ultracet a day you have already reduced your intake by about 25%. Do not try to rush this process or to stop abruptly that's a prescription for failure.
