Your best option is the government psych hospital (Suanprung). https://www.suanprung.go.th/index2559/e_index.php There may be an after hours clinic where it is less crowded than during the day. Whether through after hours "special" clinic or regular public channel, be sure to tell the doctor you prefer Thai generic. Sometimes they assume foreigners want imports. Get your husband's records form Bangkok Hospital to bring with you, will save time and help ensure consistency of treatment.

He was seeking to know if many other people had same problem. And from the answers yes. Had it myself for a day or two A stuffy nose of 3 just days duration doesn't really sound alarm bells.

See above Not at all what this link says.

On the contrary this link reports post marketing data neely available for the first time. Not underrreported data fom vaccine trials. In addition it indicates similar risk of myocarditis with both conventional and mRNA vacvines. Lsstly, the incidence if all adverse effects mentioned id extremely low. Which is why it has taken a sample size of tens of milliions to measure.

Can I be added to my wife's national health insurance plan?
Sheryl replied to Lestat777's topic in Health and Medicine
Not unless your wife is a Civil Servant. The Thai system has 3 components: 1. Civil Service Social Security 2. Social Security (employed people other than civil servants ) 3. Universal (AKA 30 baht) scheme -- all Thai citizens not covered by eithet of the above Only the first of these covers spouses -

As others have said this is not something that can be self diagnosed. neither can it be self treated.

Need recommendation for cardiologist and internist
Sheryl replied to Angie Z's topic in Health and Medicine
It is possible to get health insurance at 80 if the person is otherwise healthy with no pre-existing conditions. With your father's medical history he would not be able to get insurance. -
Pay no attention to "reviews" on drugs.com. Medications are not restaurants. People tend to post if they experienced unpleasant side effects. Which can happen with any drug, in some people. And side effects experienced by one person are not universal. That said, any idea why the doctor switched you from amlodopine to nifedipine? What exactly is your carduac history?

Breast cancer with raised underarm lymph nodes.
Sheryl replied to The Fugitive's topic in Health and Medicine
Yes, government hospital is a better choice in this instance. For the very best care I would suggest KKU Hospital (Srinagarind), Prof. ONGART SOMINTARA. Khon Kaen regional Hospital will also work....but maybe at least consult at KKU first, they are more state of the art. If it is breast cancer there will be additional tissue typing & genetic tests needed. Be sure to mention the history of Schwannoma. While it is rare, schwannoma can sometimes occur in the breast. And they can definitely occur in lymph nodes giving the impression of metastasis. -
Breast cancer with raised underarm lymph nodes.
Sheryl replied to The Fugitive's topic in Health and Medicine
As others have said, there have bern enormous advances in treatment of breast cancer. Lymph node involvement alone does not necessarily mean a terminal prognosis. If biopsy results are not yet in, there is no way doctor can have confirmed this is cancer so that statement alarms me. Where is she being treated? Change in both hospital and doctor may be advisable. -
I think all this "only run dry mode a few hours" stuff is written with other than the tropics in mind. I typically run my bedroom a/c in dry mode all night long. (If necessary I tun it on cool for 1/2 to 1 hour first before going to sleep). Dry mode a/c plus a fan keep me perfectly comfortable all night in all but the very hottest months. The air is not too dry, even after 8 hours on dehumifify. What I have now is a Dsikin with inverter (about 5-6 years old) but before that I had a non-inverter unit and dehumidify also worked....though it is better with the inverter unit. You won't see the effects quickly, it takes some time in this humid climate. Suggest you run it on cool for 1-2 hours before sleep then switch to dehumidify for the rest of the night.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/oMF8f1XQ311MScYy6 It is on Thonburi side if the river Best governmrnt hospital in the country. Affiliated with Mahidol University (best Medical school). Note that there is a separate private wing which is substantially more expensive https://www.siphhospital.com/th/home Costs thete are in line with mid range private hospitals. Since cost is a priority for you make sure you go to the main government hospital (per Gokglr map link above) . Arrive very early (i.e. 7 am-ish) , bring a native Thai speaker with you and expect long waits

Yes, virtually no dental. But medical cover is just about everything. Even cancer treatment, heart surgery etc. -
SSO Medical Plan v’s the Public Health System
Sheryl replied to JoePai's topic in Health and Medicine
Pretty much everything, inpatient and outpatient, medications, consultations, hospitalizations etc. there is a 700 baht cap on room cost for inaptient but if you want a more expensive room, can just pay the difference yourself. All care must be at one nominated hospital (unless they refer you elsewhere). -
Vinegar soaks, wear only sandals without socks, and topical terbinafine (Lamisil etc). Treatment needs to be prolonged and is more effective is the nail is first filed down.

SSO Medical Plan v’s the Public Health System
Sheryl replied to JoePai's topic in Health and Medicine
This is just one of 3 mechanisms through which care in the public system (and in some cases, select private hospitals, but mainly, public ones) may be accessed for free. It is not a separate health care system, just one of the access channels. All Thai citizens are covered under one of these 3 schemes: (regular) Social Security Civil Service Social Security Universal system (AKA "30 baht"). The last one automatically covers all Thai citizens not under either of the first 2. Foreigners cannot be covered under the Universal System. If they are married to a civil servant, they can get covered under the Civil Service SS system. And if employed in Thailand can getr covered under regular SS (exception being private school employment). And, of course, foreigners can always use public hospitals on a private pay basis. -
Worth noting that extended release niacin in much higher doses than nutritional supplement dose is sometimes used as an antilipemic by people who cannot tolerate statins. Doies bto seem to be the OP's situation. And other drugs are considered first line, use of extended release niacin for this is less common but in some cases may still be advised if the patient cannot tolerate other meds.

Yes, it can be bought here without a prescription but be careful on dosage as many brands are 20mg here. For 30 mg dosage you'll need Adalat CR an expensive import Other brands that come only in 20mg include: Nifedipin T20 Retard Depin-E Retard

1. Wait would depend on the hospital, but usually not long. Of course the endoscopy would have to be ordered by a doctor at that hospital. And she must use her nominated SS hospital. (Or one they refer her to, if she needs something they can't provide). 2. SS will pay up to 700 baht for room. If you want one that costs more, you can pay the difference. All the same applies to tonsillectomy. 3. All follow ups (including meds) would be covered by SS. If she wants to pursue getting the private insurer to cover the tonsillectomy this is OIC https://www.oic.or.th/en Complaint can be made online
-
Something is off here. First of all, cannot be covered at dame time by both 30 baht scheme and Social Security. It is one or the other. Secondly, endoscopy and meds, and tonsillectomy, would be fully covered under either 30 baht scheme or SS as applicable -- provided done at designated hospital. Routine mammogram and pap smear often not available at government hospitals, true. But where available would be covered. Sounds like she had been trying to do all these things at a private hospital through a private, Thai-issued insurance policy. Most such policies are hospitalization only so indeed do not cover outpatient endoscopies or meds nor preventive health checks. One can get optional add ons to policy that would cover such things, but at a significant cost-- usually far more than its worth. . As for the tonsillectomy she can file a complaint with the OIC to try to get the private insurer to cover it...or just get it done at her designated SS/30 baht hospital.
-
There is no such thing as an insurance that complements the 30 baht system. She can get a separate private policy but the only reason to do so would be to have the option of using private hospitals. Note that coverage limits are often unrealistically low, and the track record of many Thai insurers for paying claims is less than optimal. The"30 baht" system covers pretty much everything, inpatient and outpatient, including major surgeries, cancer care etc. Nothing basic about it. The room cover is only for a ward bed but an extra 1000 baht or so out of pocket per night will allow a private/ semi-private room if one is available.
