Is methenamine (Hiprex) available in Thailand
Sheryl replied to simon43's topic in Health and Medicine
There us no brand of it registered in Thailand. And to my reading not advised for treatment of prostatitis. Main indication is prevention of recurrent bladder infection. How do you know you still have the infection? -

Recommendations for vasectomy in Rayong area?
Sheryl replied to Flying Saucage's topic in Health and Medicine
Any urologist should be able to do this. It is a very simple, usually outpatient, procedure. Have you consulted urologists in Rayong? But you may have more luck finding one willing in Pattaya area. Especially if you are young or do nto have many children. Should be able to go home pretty much the next day. If nto driving yourself then even the same day. Only issue is there may be some swelling in the groin. If cost is a concern come to Bangkok and go to PDA clinic. They do more vasectomies than anyplace in the country. -
How do you react to Thais who do not respond to greetings?
Sheryl replied to zhounan's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
It is not normal to say "hello" to total strangers just because they are on the same elevator as you, or seated next to you in a public spot. Thais do not say hello to each other under this situation either. Nor do people where I come from back in farang-land. Not sure where OP is from but this is far from a universal custom and would strike Thais as very odd -- and intrusive -- behavior. Strikes me that way too. Some exceptions e.g. if the elevator is in an apartment building where you live and the people on it are also building residents...but even then a brief nod would be more appropriate than an actual hello. -
Personal Recommendations for Therapists in Bangkok
Sheryl replied to garet's topic in Health and Medicine
The list you refer to https://aseannow.com/topic/90910-mental-health-resource-list/ was last updated in 2018 not 2008 and is current as far as I know. Therapist recommendations are very subjective, as the chemistry between therapist and client is quite individual. It really needs some trial and error...and consider also whether you would be most comfortable with a man or woman, and also what nationality(s). Ben Weinstein at PSI has been well recommended by many but as above, may or may not suit you. Of the Bangkok resources listed in the link, PSI and NCS have been in business in Thailand the longest. -
I also cannot imagine where OP would have heard this. I suspect he either heard it from someone very uninformed or confused what he heard. It is never a question of meniscus repair vs TKR unless a TKR was already in the offing due to very advanced degeneration. With a complete root tear, the preferred treatment is surgery.

Probably because, as other poster noted, most of the insurers they refer to are US based. And the one obvious exception, Cigna Global, does not show a quote on this site ("Live Quote is coming soon for this plan...."). Neither do many plan options for the other listed insurers. And the list of insurers is far from comprehensive. Frankly cannot see an advantage to this site given the limited number of plans it can give quotes for and th inability to know who the broker would be.

I will assume "bone pain" is not really bone pain at all but just her way of saying muscle aches and pains There are in fact blood tests that can help identify if a woman is at the start of menopause, but they need to be conducted at exactly the right time in the menstrual cycle Urinary frequency, if it has persisted after the myomectomy, needs further work up especially if accompanied by dysuria. There is a menopause clinic at Chulalongkorn hospital's Women's Health Center (7th Floor Phor Por Lor Building). Last info I have is that it was Mondays from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. but this is old so should recheck by calling 02-576-6529. (Number is also old, if it does not work can call general number 02-649-4000 but may be quicker to just go in person to inquire) Other options are the various anti0aging clinics but these are very expensive

Was this scan done with contrast? If so, (1) adds to the cost and (2) potentially dangerous to do outside of a hospital.

A torn meniscus is not an indication for a knee replacement. Those are indicated only for severe joint degeneration, usually from osteoarthritis or very severe trauma. If you had that the MRI would have described it. What exactly does the MRI say about the condition of the knee joint? While partial meniscal tears can sometimes heal on their own, a complete tear does require surgery. Which can be done arthroscopically. Only reason to do a TKR rather than meniscal repair would be if the knee joint was so severely degenerated by osteoarthritis that you were within a year or two of needing a TKR anyhow. The fact that you are aged 69 in no way means this is true. Dr. Bancha is very well qualified. But if you feel need for a second opinion, best knee specialist in country is https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/panya-wongpatimachai

For consultation - about 2,000 - 2,500 baht inclusive of hospital surcharge Do not buy any medications (if prescribed) at the hospital If he recommends MRI go to mrithailand.com

as above

I realize it's a 2 1/2 hour drive each way but I recommend you go to Hat Yai and consult Assoc Prof. Varah Yuenyongviwat. Be guided by him as to what tests (if any) are needed. He can be seen at Prince of Songkhla University Hospital or at his private clinic https://www.orthopsu.org/services (go through the Special Clinic, he is there on Mondays) https://varahclinic.com/profile/ open both of the above links in Chrome for translation If MRI is recommended, and there is a long wait to do it at the hospital. you can get it at: Hat Yai PC Imaging Center Co., Ltd. (located inside Hat Yai Hospital) 182 Rattakarn Road, Hat Yai Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla 90110 Tel: 074-223-424-5 Mobile: 088-227-5392

Do not self-prescribe a test, as you may waste time and money. See this excellent, Harvard-trained shoulder specialist: https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/mason-porramatikul He will know if more tests are worthwhile (e.g. likely to affect treatment plan). Sometimes physical exam alone is enough.

No it is not. Migraine disease is a neurological condition that features not just headache but other symptoms as well. There are severe headaches that are not migraine.
-
Supposed to take only when there is migraine. 2 tablets at a time. Repeat only if no relief and do not exceed 3 doses (6 tabs) in a day or 10 tabs in a week. Side effects can be significant and this is no longer recommended as a first line treatment. Contra-indictaed in high blood pressure and heart disease. read these carefully: https://www.mims.com/thailand/drug/info/ergotamine + caffeine?mtype=generic https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/ergotamine-oral-route/proper-use/drg-20526910 Preferred treatment would be Sumatatriptan (brand names Siagran and Sumigran). Has a doctor diagnosed you as having migraines? As not every severe headache is a migraine.

This is all secondary to the bunion. Which will indeed continue to get worse until/unless surgically corrected. There is no non-surgical solution though orthotics etc may give temporary relief. in the right hands success rate for bunion surgery is very high. https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/Bavornrit-Chuckpaiwong https://www.phyathai.com/en/doctor/assoc-prof-dr-bavornrit-chuckpaiwong https://www.siphhospital.com/en/medical-services/doctor-biography?id=202 Same doctor, different hospitals. Bumrungrad the most expensive and SIPH (Siriraj private wing) the slowest/most time consuming.

Of course not. But OP does not have BPH. He has prostatitis which IS usually due to infection.
-
Prostatitis IS usually due to infection. And as previously said Finasteride does NOT treat Prostatitis. It treats benign enlargement of prostate which is an entirely different problem.

Not the norm here to write a "prescription". In fact no prescription system as such. But you could easily have gotten a copy of your medical record, which would show the medication advised, at no cost on request. There is no Thai generic equivalent for Seretide. Perfectly common for specialists to work on weekends. Due to its proximity most senior doc at Siriraj have hours there.

He may have gotten it done at a lab. Since results are in normal range (though at very upper end of normal for the SGPT/ALT) hardly any reason to see a dietician or spercialist. If he is overweight, addressing that (diet, exercise) would be wise in any case. @roger101 did you by any chance take an antihistamine or other medication in the 24-48 hours before the blood test? As this will cause mild transient elevations. I assume the reference range shown in your lab report must have had a lower cutoff than 56 for the SGPT? In Thailand they often use lower than internationally normal cut offs for liver enzymes. Usual normal range for this enzyme is 7 - 56. At most you have only a very, very slight elevation which could easily be explained by being overweight or by medication.

@Mike Lister Hyperthyroidism will cause elevated BP. Once corrected, BP will of course be lower. Your pre-op readings were too high. The BP levels you now report are normal and not a cause for worry. Note that it is common for BP machines to underestimate diastolic BP a bit. (But even if not, nothing really wrong with these diastolics. Your pulse pressure is around 60 which is fine. Some people normally run a bit more than that. ) Hyperthyroid burns fat so once corrected, if food intake remains unchanged, soem gain is possible. You may need to to adjust diet and exercise a bit.

Absolutely no indication for dosage increase at those levels. FT4 already towards upper end of normal and TSH is at low end of nromal. If anything might be able to decrease slightly.
