  1. He was treated not just for UTI but also for BPH (benign prostate enlargement)
  2. See https://www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/hbv/interpretationOfHepBSerologicResults.htm You had a prior Heb B infection (no telling when) but recovered and now have immunity. If the infection were chronic the antigen HBsAg would be positive. If the immunity was from vaccination, the anti-HBs would be positive but not the anti-HBc. As there is no ongoing infection, just a past infection and now immunity, and your liver enzymes are normal. you do not need to do anything.
  3. Only people with allergy/sensitivity will get anaphalactic reaction to Thai scorpions/centipedes/millipedes, most will not. But it will hurt anyone like %^*&$. In other parts of the world there are ones that are outright lethal to anyone. I find drowned centipedes in my "moat" often so they are trying to head for the house but the moat stops them. Luckily they cannot swim. I also have the door draft protectors on all doors. Since installing all this, I have not had a scorpion or centipede in the house. But I have to remain vigilant when entering garden shed.
  4. It is not in any way illegal. The rule on bringing in any medication with you is 30 day supply but the quantity restriction is not strictly enforced as long as non-controlled substance and quantity looks consistent with personal use.
  5. I am actually assisting a friend from Cambodia through this right now. (biopsy today, but high suspicion of cancer so we are already exploring options). Brachytherapy is an option if the prostate is not too large but not for very large prostates. A big advantage to it is that it does nto need many repeat visits unlike wide beam RT. The choice of treatment for clinically significant prostate cancer needs to factor in many things including: - patient's age and overall fitness - how aggressive the tumor is -size of the prostate and of course patient preference Note I say "clinically significant prostate cancer". This excludes very slow growing cancers especially in older people.
  6. @lordgrinz any idea how they are getting in? As I would address that. Can get door draft guards that go on the bottom of doors at Home Pro or from Lazada or Shoppee etc, will stop them from getting in that way. I have a (very) small "moat" around my house precisely to keep out scorpions and centipedes. It also slows down (but does not completely stop) ants. I also have drain covers on bathroom floor drains.
  7. I do not remember what address I used when I registered but I think it was my Thai address. Certainly all my deliveries are to my Thai address. Make sure you register in the iHerb Thailand site https://th.iherb.com/ If you are after Puritan Pride you can buy it in 10mg dose through Line Shopping. I did just a week ago and already received it, shipping from within Thailand. 500 baht for 120 caps.
  8. Was it done by plastic surgeon? Or by dermatologist? Usually for large removal area (or deep incision) they will refer to plastic surgeon for optimal cosmetic result. Costs more, though
  9. If in Bangkok, best option is the Government Institute of Dermatology https://www.iod.go.th/en/ Go through after hours clinic is best. I can't recommend a specific doctor but tell them you need an acharn with expertise in skin cancer. Otherwise Dr. Anna in Pattaya trained in US and specializes in skin cancers https://bangkokpattayahospital.com/doctor/anna-jaruwarn-m-d/
  10. The other thing I would add is to be sure to complete the medical questionnaire in full and honestly. With full medical underwriting if issued by an insurer based in a Western country you are assured that anything not stated as an exclusion in the policy will be covered unless it is later found that you omitted or concealed something relevant. In that case not only might a claim be denied but entire policy could be voided.
  11. It is not a matter of thinking one is "too good to speak Thai to a foreigner nor necessarily that the Thai spoken is heavily accented. My Thai is fine and readily undrerstood but I have still encountered people -- usually poorly educated ones with little to no prior exposure to foreigners -- who freak out at the site of one and effectively shut their ears because they do not know it is possible for a foreigner to speak Thai.
  12. Many problems have been reported on this board from people with moratorium policies. They are definitely to be avoided IMO for exactly the reason you say - you do not know whether something will be covered until there is a claim. (Thai insurer4s in particular are quite "creative" in deciding something was pre-exisitng...but even international insurers may surprise you). The only reason I can think of for getting a moratorium policy would be if you simply could not get cover any other way due to pre-existing conditions (i.e. if all insurers offering full underwriting rejected you). But it is still a big gamble. It takes a bti longer to get a policy will full underwriting issued but well worth it.
  13. Probably below 200k total but it will depend on type of radiation
  14. OK. Her situation is actually a bit complex and not straightforward. (Talking just about the original values, since the repeat tests reflected the effect of the now discontinued statins): - HDL and triglycerides are excellent -cholesterol ratio is 3.6 which is also pretty good (below 3.5 is ideal; high is when it is over 5) - Very likely the LDL measure was indirect, not direct. That means calculated by an equation rather than actually measured. When the triglycerides are low (as in her case) these indirect measures can be unreliable. So in fact the first step should be to get a direct LDL test. Then, if it is still elevated, -- since it is possible that her LDL elevation is coming from large particle LDL i.e. healthier fats -- see a specialist in lipid disorders to discuss whether in fact her lipid profile needs treatment.Presence or absence of other risk factors will play a role in that decision. Where are you located?
  15. I can't see how something that basically just improves blood circulation would do much for arthritis pain. Physical therapy/targeted exercises on the other hand can help a lot. You can find exercises on You Tube If at all overweight, weight loss will certainly help. HA injections (Synovisc etc) also often help as do PRP injections. Once fully grade 4 nothing is likely to help but knee replacement but the above measures may postpone the need for that.
  16. Hard to see a physiologic reason why Centrum would do this unless you have allergy to one of the nonactive ingrediants. Possible but not common. Anyway wait and see if it recurs.
  17. No, it does not make sense. When statin has suceeded in reducing LDL to normal level usual course of action is to keep the patient on the statin. If the drug reduced LDL but it is still above normal options would be to either give it more time at same dose or increase the dosage/change the drug In neither case would it make sense to just stop treatment Sometimes diet and exercIse alone will do the trick but not all patients are willing/able to make these changes. What exactly were her LDL numbers before and after? And what is her triglyceride?
  18. Cost varies greatly drpending on type of radistion treatment and hospital. Would this be at government or private hospital?
  19. I recommend you go to KKU Hosputal (Srinagarind) and try to see Prof. Somsak Tiomkao there through the special/after hours clinic https://srinagarind.md.kku.ac.th/
  20. Likely her husband wants to be able to join her on visits and discuss with/ask questions of the doctor. It is a serious and long term condition. Quite understandable.
  21. Don't do that, under any circumstances. They will know it was you. Even if you were speaking Thai to the fellow, Thais sometimes assume anything coming out of a foreigner's mouth must be not Thai and make no effort to listen. OR, he may have been a subordinate of some type and not in a position to speak for his boss, and certainly not going to ask him for you. I think only solution is for you to go over to the house yourself and very, very nicely, offer to help them move the car slightly so that your gate is not blocked.

  24. Chiang Mai where? One of the hospitals? Or a stand alone clinic?
  25. This thread has been running for well over a year and is going in circles. those with misgivings/reservations about this insurer have stated why. Those who have chosen to get this insurance, have stated why as well. No one is going to convince anyone. Closed.
