  1. Has anyone bought the new BMW 320d GT ? Just driven one and it was a nice drive, like the look of the Merc CLA250 but everything was extra, not even maps for the GPS Unit, where as the BMW has 5 Years 100k inc all servicing thrown in

Interested if anyone has this and what they think, or any good write ups anywhere ?

Is there a chip available for this in Thailand also ? :)

    Any info appreciated

    Thanks

  2. Parking the Car the other way around does not seem to have worked smile.png
As asked pictures of the unit when I started the car, only a couple of hours after parking
Last picture showing same position as when I started and yet I was at least a Km away up the road
Yes I know it was fairly quick, but I needed to be somewhere, and like I said before, this never happened at all with the last Fortuner Sportivo 3 (Different Sat Nav Unit)

Will see what it is like in the morning smile.png
    Still waiting for Toyota to get back to me . . . . . . . . post-14647-0-74912900-1424264225_thumb.jpost-14647-0-85356100-1424264235_thumb.jpost-14647-0-45908800-1424264244_thumb.j

  3. My two month old Hilux locks on just about the second I pull out of my garage. Maybe you should be bringing this up at the Toyota service center. Surely they have an extra vehicle that they can park near yours to see just how long it should take to lock on to the location.

    Regards,

    Kurt

Good thought, already asked them to do that when I went there, they did not have another vehicle with Sat Nav available ??? Hmmmmm

It took nearly 15 Minutes in front of them to get a lock on the satellites !!!

Takes anywhere between 5 and 10 at home (Out of the Garage)

Longer it is left the worse it seems to be ?

Obviously as the GPS works the moment you start the car, the position has not changed from when it was parked.

Have emailed Toyota Main Office Bangkok:

  4. When I bought my Fortuner new years back the dealership put metallic sun film on all the windows...the GPS navigation would lose lock all the time. Took the SUV back to the dealership and asked was that "metallic" film you installed...they said yes...only the best for you. I then said that's probably why my GPS Nav is not working worth a durn since the GPS antenna is in the front dash. They replaced with metallic file on the front window with high quality non-metallic film and the GPS began working fine and has worked fine since.

Apart from a 6" Strip at the top of the windscreen no film at all so really should not be any problem

  5. Hi, Just bought a New TRD Fortuner, The Built in GPS Sat Navigation really struggles to obtain a satellite lock, and if I drive off before it does, the then GPS does not function.

My previous Fortuner never missed a beat !!

Have read a couple of things about the type and strength of Film on the windows, am told by Toyota that the Satellite receiver is on the top of the dash board, in which case their should be no problem as only have a thin strip of film at the very top of the windscreen, however, if the receiver is built in to the FM receiver which is in the rear quarter panel window, then maybe that affects it ?
I really cannot get any sense from Toyota, they appear clueless and are doing sweet FA, but right now the unit is useless unless I sit for some 10 minutes to obtain a decent satellite lock.

Anyone experienced this at all please ?

Once it gets its lock it works fine, just takes ages to acquire the satellites to work properly, never had this problem before.
I have Garmin app on my iPhone and it obtains lock sat in the car within seconds !!

  6. I did 77 flights last year no joke, (Not all from Bangkok) But - - It really does depend what time of day you arrive, I can understand people saying easy through immigration as many times it is pretty empty, but - - I have also flown in a few times when they are backed out into Duty free areas, I will take photos next time, so the passes are great for these times, I agree not always, but it does happen and not infrequently

  7. Just because you need a PayPal account does not mean they are not ok, just means you need a PayPal account not really a big deal, they send the passes on time and very efficiently, you choose when to use them or not, if the normal immigration is busy then use, if not then save the pass and use normal, your choice and easy

  8. Plus the Sat Nav wanted to take me her own way which was crappy, Via Bangkok and not the more Eastern Route

Its just a long Laborious drive which was not really that much fun, I chose to drive late at night to avoid traffic, big mistake as all the drunks were out plus of course all the vehicles etc without lights, not to mention the Trucks who just would not pull over, Guess I could have timed it to be during the day, but really just will not ever consider the option again, will fly to Savannakhet from Bangkok, My timings were to coincide with the Embassy openings and drive back right after collection, the best option would be to stay 4 nights if you are going to drive, my comment was based on my own experiences the other night smile.png

Why "never again" for the drive? I've been on portions of the various roads in that region, nice to see some new country.

I especially like the Phonom Sarakham-Kabin Buri-Korat section of Hwy 304, rebuilt by the 809th & 528th Engineer Bns of the U.S. Army, and associated sub units, starting in 1963. The "Bangkok Bypass Road".

  9. Nope, Just those 3

Just a Quick update from Pattaya Driving Centre 29-04-14
I went to renew 5 Yr Licence and was told they will not accept the yellow Book anymore
Long story short, went back into Pattaya and used my Yellow book to obtain LOR from Immigration department in Jomtien, Very easy 20 Minutes and 500 Baht for 2 Copies (Bike and Car)

Back to Driving Centre with the LOR and no problem, no medical needed for the 5 Year renewal just

    1: colour identification test

    2: Depth perception test

    3: Emergency brake test

Followed by watch a Video for 1 Hour

Missed getting it all done by Lunchtime, even though I arrived back at the office 10.30, so had to wait until 1Pm for Photo and Licence, all done and out of there by 1.20
Bit annoying about the Yellow Book, but maybe this might help others
    Cheers

Thanks for your post. Apart from the three tests above, didn't you also have to do the peripheral vision colour test?

  11. Thanks again for the feedback, it is always good to know comparable alternatives, I have never experienced those faults fortunately or for sure I would have explored other options, I know also that during the flood their factory was badly affected, as I too had a repair done at that time that took forever (4 Months) I was away at work at the time when it malfunctioned (Not even sure to be honest what went wrong) but the wife replaced it with a high flow expensive Hitachi Model, which to be fair did the job but was slightly less powerful than the Grundfos.

Long story short - - Built a New House and installed the Grundfos here, which fitted very neatly inside the Utility room which has full cover and a good airflow through the room. Have only been in this house 1 Month and until a couple of days ago the Pump worked perfectly, so I guess after the repair it lasted only a Month ! (This also repaired during the floods) Everything works perfectly apart from when under load it cuts out briefly every 15 seconds, which in the Grundfos material I have says it is a controller, Flow Sensor or Pressure Switch Problem, Grundfos Engineer from Bangkok confirmed this when he heard it via Phone call.

Could not find one at all in Pattaya, although HomePro list them on their website they always show no stock, so I called Bangkok who will deliver the new one today, take out the old one and install the new, and then take it for repair, which when done will leave me one unit for a spare.

But - - - Should it malfunction again I will indeed try the different model you suggest, but fingers crossed it will continue to provide a great service as before.

Many thanks again for your feedback

    Cheers

    Edit - Spell

  12. Thanks for the info, have already transferred the money !! blink.png

I think if I remember rightly you have contributed a fair bit to the Grundfos Threads (Not checked but it rings a bell) and to be honest, apart from now have never had a problem or any cause to criticise them, it has been great, not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Both Storage Tanks and Pump inside so have no problems with High Temps

    Will research CMB3 though

    Thanks again
