  1. "This Last week my Gmail has been having many Problems, it has worked fine for ages and ages no problems."

Probably due to the international SSL problems that have been plaguing many people for the last week. For most of them it has been problems with secure websites, but Gmail uses the same type of protocol for its POP, IMAP and SMTP connections.

I expect the problem will leave the way it came if you just sit tight.

It must be something to do with that, as it is still playing up now, just about totally useless right now, but will connect via my phone sim and send receive no problem, all internet fine, Just receiving on Pop3 Gmail port 995 (I dont want IMAP)

Nothing to do with Operating System or Antivirus as i check and disabled them but no difference, Back to work tomorrow will have to see what it is like when i return and contact TOT, but i am puzzled it is not working at all, there are no alternative Pop3 Gmail ports ?

  2. This Last week my Gmail has been having many Problems, it has worked fine for ages and ages no problems.

Its is set up on Pop3 995 SSL and SMTP 587 TLS

80% of the Time the incoming mail fails giving code 0x800CCC1A

And the other 20% all works fine ??? Outgoing Mail is No Problem, Its never done this before, i am connected through TOT

Any ideas ? Is there another POP3 Port i can use ?

  5. hi the current map at the moment is City Navigator Thailand NT V10.12 Thai made by ESRI Co Ltd Thailand

OK, you need an entirely new map installed in the GPS. Contact ESRI Customer Care: 0-2266-9948 or e-mail: [email protected] and ask them for advice. They may tell you it's a Toyota proprietary problem, in which case you have the following options:

    1. Get Toyota to provide the English language map.

    2. Get a custom automotive GPS installer to install an English language map.

    3. Purchase or download a new map (unlocked) from the internet. You should be reasonably skilled with a computer for this and may need a SD memory card and reader. Locate the actual Garmin GPS unit that is fitted on your Fortuner, you need access to it. When you locate the actual Garmin GPS unit, see if it has a SD memory card in the slot and see if the unit has a USB port.

ESRI Cannot help as they are under contract to Toyota for this, They DO supply both Eng and Thai Versions, Getting hold of the Eng version is not easy :whistling:

But you can make your own Quite easily, just follow aidenai help from the other Topic link, Good guy and helped me to do it.

  6. Please tell us how much rental income you think a 2.5 million baht condo will give you each year?

Are you going for capital growth or regular income?

How much do you think your 2.5 million baht condo will be worth in 10 years time in real terms?

Had a friend who bought 3 condos with the same idea 5 years ago, he managed to sell one, the other two are empty, if he is lucky he could get about 25,000 baht per month in income, needless to say he is still working, his plans have been put on the back burner.

For visa purposes there is no need to buy condos, houses, land or cars, only show the capital required each year to extend your visa.

£50k per year for five years isnt exactly retirement money, only equates to £250k, how old are you?

Lets not overlook those nasty little things like tax, or WP.

To answer questions in this post, The 2.5 Million is how much i am planning on investing each of the next 5 years, it may go up as Salary does :whistling: So the question was buy a 2.5 Million Condo per Year or a couple at just over 1 million (maybe do them up if cheaper) My initial thoughts would be a couple of cheaper units done up nicely and rented at maybe 8000 Month, just guessing at figures obviously, even at that money its a lot more than investment rates !!!! And over a larger length of time one would think capital ivestment would increase as property rates anyway, especially if bought right :)

Nothing to do with Visa Requirements.

Am 50 and already have a pension, so just looking for best way to invest capital and would rather it went into property not pension top up.

And assuming by the Tax and WP you are saying i would need a WP if i were to rent these out ?

If that were the case would buy them in my wifes name which i would assume would make things much easier (I do not need advise on the pitfalls of buying in Wifes name, that can be done on other threads)

So all in all a genuine question to see how others have done this, or would do it.

    Cheers for all the replies

  7. Am thinking of Buying Condos as a retirement investment in Pattaya instead of putting into pension as the returns are just about zero right now, I know there are many Guys here who have done and will do the same with Condos in Pattaya, what i would like to know is what Value Condos would be best to invest in ? Thinking Of Jomtien area maybe View Talay 2 A&B (Just Down from Threppasit Road) What would give me the best returns and running costs, a Basic Studio condo, or one more expensive and slightly bigger or even a 1 Bedroom Condo, Have something Like 2.5 Million to invest each year for say 5 Years?

    Thankyou for any Advice

  8. I use Dr Sunil in Bangkok. In fact my son and I have an appointment tomorrow. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. However, the level of service I have received has always been second to none. His website lists the prices for each treatment. Just google him.

    thanks but looking in pattaya

    Smile Time in Jomtien +66818895233

Great Dentist, Overseas trained, Excellent English, all in all a pleasant experience if there is such a thing with a visit to a Dentist, Recommend him without question, lots of work done there after 8 years of no Dentist Visit and very glad I chose him !!

Drive down to Jomtien past Threppasit road Traffic Lights to where the roads turns to the right (By Mermaid Bar, Take Care bar ) It’s the first of 3 Dentists on the left (Mermaid Side) 50 yards past the Corner

  9. Here's a vendor for a ready-made replacement headlamp assembly with CCFL rings:

And here's some vendors that will custom make them from your existing headlamps (and paint to your desired color, upgrade to projectors etc, and do an excellent job for cheaper than the above)

  10. oops my hubby's car got the same light! :whistling:

I could be wrong but hate to see you waste money and have BiB probs. :)

I have already upgraded all the lights to HID, and there is a very slight blueish tinge :whistling:

BUT, no one has flashed me when driving towards me yet, so i am assuming that although they are much brighter they do not cause problems to oncoming vehicles which is good, on full beam i think they would melt you !! :D

Its just the outer circle Angel Eyes that i want, unless there is a full unit to exchange, yes just for looks to please my whims

Dont spend much time in the city so to speak, so not come across hungry BiB so far, will see how it goes i guess, thanks for the Heads up anyway

  11. HI, Does anyone know of any Angel Eye upgrade Projector Headlight units available for the new style Fortuner Headlights ?

Attached a picture of Units that are available (So i am told) for the old style, love the look of these and wondered if any available for new style now ?

    Cheers for any Help

  12. Rear Camera Fitted and working fine, Many calls to Bangkok while doing it, but really looked quite simple and just plugged in the back of the Head Unit, took a feed off reversing light, it is placed to the side of the Number Plate lights, so neither of those needed removing.

All done, all good, Sat Nav in English and V11 working great everywhere not just Bangkok, Reversing Camera Installed and working fine, Happy Man :D

Pictures of Installation, sorry not great as in a bit of a rush and just used my Phone.

Works great but dont forget your mirrors !! Things seem much further away than they are :D

  15. I'd guess that the ESRI unlock code would be the same for both Thai and English language files of the same version map (9.0,10.0,10.1 etc). Just replace the current Thai language map file gmapprom.img (122,756 KB) with the English map file from the same version map.

Thanks for the thoughts, That way did not work at all as was one of the first things i tried, but with aidenai help it is all sorted now, made a complete new V11 English map on a new SD card and is working perfectly

    Many thanks

  16. Have been trying to get answers from Toyota about the English Software for the Sat Nav, Bangkok say they have it but i have to order it from Dealer, Dealer say they dont think they have it but will find out and i must wait a month, I know ESRI supply the software on SD card in both Thai and English, so it was pissing me off !!! Spent a day on the Internet and had some help from a fellow Thai Visa member and now load Thai Streetmaps V11 in English on a New SD card and all working Great, So <deleted> Them !! Saved me 4000 Baht also !

Now the Rear Camera, again Bangkok Head office say no problem fitting, Pattaya say no can do, Told Bangkok to call Pattaya and sort or give me Dealer in bangkok who will do it, now yet another waitng game.

I really dont understand how they do business, as all this has just shown me how little they know about their products, and how little they think of a Farang who trys to help.

    Rant over :whistling:

Good to see some didn't take the official announcements on face value :)

Good work on the maps too - can you confirm whether the upgrades you've managed have good detail nation-wide (the original specs noted detailed coverage for BKK area only)?

The New SD Card with V11 Maps on seems to work fine, its actually a slightly bigger file size than the V10 that is on the Thai Toyota Card. All roads show and points of Interest seems loads, I live on the outskirts of Pattaya and it is showing up all the little side streets so appears to be very good, not been many places yet but should do some driving this next few weeks and will report, but i would guess any update/Report you see on the V11 Maps will be exactly what i now have on mine.

I still would like the reversing Camera but no one is answering me now either from Toyota Bangkok or Pattaya :whistling:

  18. Just taken delivery of a new Toyota Fortuner, it has built in Sat Nav unit Toyota Part # PZ072-00016 to 00019

It has the Map Data on a SD Card, It is proving difficult and time consuming to obtain this data in the English version so i have been trying to make my own :whistling:

I am guessing the software is locked to the SD card and not the Sat Nav unit ?

First off i tried to just copy the SD card to another to see if that would work but no Joy, the main files on the original sd card are:

1st level is the GARMIN Folder and PANA10SIG.psi file

2nd Level in the GARMIN Folder: Attached Picture

I see there is a file named gmapprom.unl which i assume is the SD card unlock or Software unlock ?

I found the SD id number and used this to create a SD card unlock number for the SD card i copied to, but no sucess the unit would not read the SD card ?

Any help from you tech guys out there, all i want to do is change the Thai version to English ?

There are 3 different images though not just one ?

    gmapbmap.img

    gmapprom.img

    gmaptz.img

Any thoughtsd on what else to try as getting fed up with Toyota and no one knowing anything ?

    Cheers
