  1. That will surprise me if the camera will work as there is no way to connect to this head unit, the guy from Toyota Bkk and sale people in Hatyai and samui said no way. Also early in the thread MRO has been informed it won't work so if you find it does please inform. I've bitten the bullet and ordered one for delivery January so I can't check till then. Also I assume you know your spare is steel rim with 16" tyre. Diameter is nearly same as 18"

My friend just received the car with rear camera. So " Toyota BKK sale people in Hatyai and Samui do wrong. " Don't bitten the bullet ..... Hear the solution. Only toyota show room can put the rear camera. They need some unlock the head unit for rear camera. So just spend the 7000 B and enjoy your rear camera. Yes! its more softer for suspension than SMART. Brake is very powerful than before. Thanks for Parado front disc.

    Dear SIR(wbchonburi),

correct me if I am wrong...the images above is Sportivo ii NOT iii (notice the slight different design of the rear skirt from other images from other post)

Sure looks like the Sportivo II not III, Rear Spoiler wrong

  2. Just a Brief update, I still think this is much softer than my old Smart, not sure if thats a good thing or bad thing right now, I remain pleased with it, have not sorted the Thai Map software out yet as no one in the Dealership who appears to know anything is there when i go ?? Seems so simple to me, SD card swap for English Software version easy ?

Being white it picks up new Tarmac spots much too easily !!!

Toyota Pattaya Main Dealer said this was the first and only one they had for this Month but at a Seafood Place last night out at NaJomtien another one was parked next to me  Such is Life :):D

Tried to burn some MP3 DVDs for the DVD unit failing miserably each time until i found out that whatever the size, the maximum number of files it will recognise is 255, and you can fit that on an ordinary CD :) Burnt some Music Vids and they play fine, even when you are driving !!! :D

Still not dropped the spare wheel yet but from previous posts they seem to have the right info.

I have fitted a few Minor bits to the car Trim, such as Door Handle covers, Light Covers, Fog Light Covers, Fuel Flap Cover and Air Intake Cover, plus a couple of bits for the side Indicators to make it appear it has vents somewhat like the Range Rover :D I dont think too much and fairly pleased again.

I have had both High and Low Beam converted to HID and the light intensity is Great, much whiter and brighter, no one seems to flash so cant be too high on the dipped setting, although would think it would melt oncoming traffic on the high beam setting !! There is a very slight delay when switching to Full beam and them attaining full intensity, that peaves me a little but i guess is Bearable.

Lastly, i upgraded the Horn, i always do this as standard is just too weak :) BUT, i think i may have overdone it a bit and it might cause accidents on Bikes due to how loud it is :whistling: Just look at the original and the replacements :D

Have done very little driving in it to give a better report, and away back to work on Thursday, so that will have to wait, but apart from being a softer set up than my previous smart, and the little extras inside, cannot think for a moment there will be anything to tell that a million people do not know already :D

Couple of Pictures as it is today, Cheers for now.

  3. Couple of pictures showing external of car in a better quality Photo, plus hopefully showing colour of wheels, you can see in the thumbnail pictures the white next to the wheel showing much darker than silver.

Now for a visit to Car parts shop for a few little bits and pieces, More Pictures Later, will also at some point get the spare off and look at that.

Also still looking at sorting the Thai Map on the Sat Nav software, apart from that all seems good so far.

  4. I think the navigation has real time traffic reports for Bkk anyway who needs that, the road navigation is for the whole of Thailand which I think it has. Your mags look silver colour the one's in Hatyai were a nice brown gold colour look good. Maybe Toyota are using up all there old bit's to save cost's and charge an extra 40,000bt. dam_n I'm now more undecided if Misu had Vsc and Trc I would go for Mitsu oh well have to toss a coin again.

The Mags are a dark Metallic not silver, i will take a picture later when it stops raining, The Sat Nav unit covers all of Thailand and has multiple Language display/Talk/Input Options, The Toyota Part Number is PZ072-0K009/ PZ072-00019 to 00019

First Impressions is that it looks and works ok BUT the Software installed is the Thai version so although it speaks in English all names and writing of roads and places etc is in Thai !! Am trying to find out if i can get the English version, am guessing software from ESRI so have emailed them first. It is supplied on SD card which is good as should be able to be updated/changed easily. The Head unit takes one Disc only but seeing as it takes DVDs you can put 6 CDs worth of MP3 Music on one DVD. Have not tried any movies on DVD yet and wonder if it has a restriction that stops the display whilst moving ? In Europe that would be a cert, but here ? Hmmmm :)

It has Bluetooth connection and can sync with your Phone, you can connect your Ipod and also USB, it also has a small remote control <deleted> ???

The spare as said appears to be a steel wheel, but not been under the car yet to really look. I dont know what the Spec for the Sportivo II is So i really dont know what bits it has that the old one does not ?

The Spoiler Kit front and rear plus slightly different rear high level spoiler i am guessing.

The ride is much softer than my TRD Smart, Guessing they toned the ride down on the first Sportivo's ? I actually prefered the drive in the Smart (Thats just from 30 Mins driving Yesterday) but it is a little softer over the potholes. Will take some better pictures later when the weather clears up, and write another report before i head off back to work next week, but so far ok, its a decent truck, not overly outspoken, just would like to srt the Sat Nav Software and find out definitively if the Head unit will work with Rear Camera even if it needs an added control box To Be Continued ----

The Drivers seat is electrically controlled, it has Cruise Control, Foldable Wing Mirrors, it has the standard reversing Sensors and i have had front Sensors installed also.

  5. I'm sure MRO will give some answer's maybe even a work around for the head unit.

I'm afraid not - the stereo that comes int he Sportivo III is entirely different to the what comes in the Aperto II and V-Navi models, it has a smaller screen (6.1" vs 6.4" for V-Navi and 7" for Aperto II), and it's GPS covers the greater Bangkok area only (what the?)..

So if you really want a reversing camera (IMHO, essential on SUV's) your options are:

    1) Add an aftermarket camera using a replacement rear-view mirror with LCD screen integrated into it.

    2) Change the whole audio/navi system as discussed up the page.

The first option is the cheapest, the second more expensive, but perhaps practical if you need a GPS that will work outside of Bangkok and Chonburi..

Where in Pattaya are these Camera/Reversing Mirror LCD kits available please ?

    Cheers

Thanks for the info, Just a question, but how are you aware the Sat Nav only covers Bangkok and Chonburi ? Surely that would only be part of the Thailand (ESRI?) map which seems pointless ? How is it loaded ? Does it have a CD drive ? In which case you could just change the CD or programming ?

Also on one of the pictures i have attached (Received them this morning) it shows an SD card slot ? Surely you could just put the SD card from ESRI covering the full Thailand and that would work, these are just assumptions as from earlier posts i have not even seen my new ride yet !!

The Rear View Mirror with built in LCD screen for Reversing sounds a good option, where could i get one of those ?

    Thanks for any info

Yep they have fitted a cheap charley Hi fi set up. the one Ive got has a flip down front that you have to open to put disc in doesn't have knob's only button's. There's the problem. Bit stupid as they have lost money as you cant fit camera. As I said before Wan-er's.

Agree somewhat, but i cant say its the end of the world if i had a system fitted that showed the camera via the rear view mirror, not perfect by any means but i guess better than starting totally new with complete unit at guessing over 100K

Dont understand the Cheap Charlie reference to the Hi Fi Set up though ? The spec looks the same as the Navi and Aperto apart from a slightly different sized screen, why they have done that is anyones Guess.

When has anything in Thailand made any sense ? :)

  7. Like i said, only going on the pictures i have it looks like it has a SD slot for the Sat Nav, you cant limit the GPS system just to Bangkok or wherever, just the map data, looks like that could be covered with a Full ESRI SD Card

A bit pissed i am not there to see for myself

  9. Yes agree was a bit pissed about that, not sure on the spare, as not sure on anything as stuck in crappy Indonesia for another couple of weeks :( I could call her and ask, but seeing as she has not even looked at the Sat Nav unit or anything else yet, feel the call may be wasted :whistling:

So might as well go out on the lash now and drown my sorrows :)

    Cheers for now

  10. Yes, this is a point i have also found out, apparently the rear camera interface is not compatible with the Sat Nav Head unit for some reason, was told to go to aftermarket and have the standard one taken out and replaced with one that will work with camera !!! <deleted> ?

So have not got the Camera option, it has reversing sensors and also same at the front, will have to do for now.

Sure would like to have this with the 4 ltr Petrol !!!!

  11. Just Taken Delivery of Pattaya's First Sportivo III :whistling::D

Your lucky so enjoy the drive. Perhaps after a couple of weeks you could update us all to se if you are completely satisfied and of any niggles you may have

Not so lucky, what I should have written was "My Wife has just taken delivery of Pattaya'a first Sportivo III" :D

But I will be back in a couple of weeks and will update as to how it is, I don’t foresee many differences but it has a few things that my TRD Smart did not have, such as the Full Sat Nav, Cruise and elect seats etc, but will post here how I find it in comparison to the Smart.

    Cheers

  12. Thank you. That is an interesting choice of words. I do believe I see something between the lines.
In general, immigration seems to be very relaxed, as long as you are too.

After reading the above post i realised that my Visa expires on Monday!!!, I fly out of the country Tuesday morning, Is a one day overstay not a problem at the airport ? Or do i need to go to immigration on Monday ? :)

My fault 100% for not realising sooner, or i would have booked my flight for the day before.

    Thoughts Please ?

  13. Main Honda dealer in Rayong has 4. From 5000km to 15000km on the clocks. All look very clean and tidy.

Saw Monday when I had my bikes oil changed.

If you buy thru a dealer you need passport and work permit..the dealer will take care everything after that

PM me if you want more details.

You do not need a work Permit, Just Passport Copies showing current Visa and letter of Residence issued by Immigration

  14. Update on Fortuner, G model "manual" now only in 2.5 VN turbo. Other model's will be in 3.0 at the moment. The new Sportivo 111 coming in about 3 month's, Will be simular to previous Sportivo, also in 3.0 form. Only available in white, as before. What difference's I have not been able to ascertain yet, also no joy on price but Ive no doubt higher.

    Many Thanks again

  15. There's some rumours circulating but that's about it - I've heard nothing from a credible source. The rumours say that there's a Sportivo III and an Aperto II coming in September. The rumoured changes don't appear to be too much though I'm afraid - apparently there's a new LCD screen for the audio-visual system and some minor cosmetic changes.

In any case, I'll wait until I hear something from someone I trust - a lot of these rumours are just the result of (sometimes good) guesses on the part of over-enthusiastic people fishing for inside info... I'm not suggesting that's you BTW - I'm referring to the Thai language websites where these types of rumours generally originate from.

Thanks, Reason i asked is it was said by staff at Toyota Pattaya when i was trying to decide between Navi and Sportivo, They told me Sportivo is sold out !? and to wait until Sept Oct for New Sportivo lll, but they had no idea of prices and spec etc, the 2.5 engine mention was really taken from other threads here and all about Euro Compliance, i would go for the 3.0 Navi right away if 2.5 was indeed the case (As i am sure many People would) So now just to decide if to go with the Navi right now (And TRD it with the Extras) or wait ? I ponder :)

3,0 already complies with Euro IV in Europe (171-211 hp/400+Nm) so why replace it to comply?

I have no idea, was just a thought taken from other posts (That you were an active participant) about the engines and maybe going to 2.5, So really i was just thinking out loud that IF they went to 2.5 i would be keener on replacing now with the 3.0 thats all :D

  16. I have a chum (Thai) who work's for Toyota going to see him in the next couple of day's. Will ask him if he know's anything. Or you could phone Toyota BKK 023861000 their very helpful. Heard a rumour the new one's going to be 2.5 How the hel_l can it be a sport's with a 2.5 lt engine. Glad Ive already got mine.... Now up for sale at more than cost... I jest. If I find out anything Ill put a new post in.

    Thanks
