I thought the crime was already very organised in Phuket. Why do they need a Centre to organise it further? A waste of taxpayer baht if you ask me.

...until next time. 50 cm is little guarantee given all of the risk factors...deforestation, monsoons, mismanagement.....Foolish to think this is guaranteed safe.
Agreed. I am at Hi-Tec Park and they have taken a similar approach.... dykes 50cm above previous flood levels.

Sadly, if the number of independent travellers drop, especially backpackers who support small locally owned businesses, we are likely to see a spike in tourist focused crimes as those depdendent on them for income become increasingly desperate. It's a downwards spiral that will be hard to pull out of.

I went to Queen Sirikit a couple of years back and managed to snare a 9 baht each way flight to/from Hanoi. Taxes of course were on top, but still.

Shameful. Utterly shameful.

5 years later with unemployment levels at record highs... "Please give me a little more time to work at my full capacity".
Truth be told he was working at full capacity from day one. It doesn't matter how many times you add or multiply zero, you're never going to get more than zero.

Stop being so negative and look on the bright side. If it had been the proposed 'high speed' train, they'd probably all be dead.

Just so we are clear. The police in all their wisdom decided that towing this ‘yellow shirt’ judges solitary car would clear the traffic jam. Don’t they think that clearing the hundreds/thousands of red shirts marching down the road might have had a greater effect?

Now here is something you can count on….. No one can tarnish the reputation of the Thai Police like a Thai policeman can.

Thai fly direct using modern-ish 777 ER200.
Overall a good experience (certainly by Thai standards).
My only real complaint is that the air-con struggles and so it can get a little hotter than I would like (there are no personal ceiling fans you can adjust).

"Kritsada also discussed collection of car-parking fees on main streets and branch roads, which the BMA is authorised to do. The BMA would need to discuss with Traffic Police how to collect the fees or exempt parking fines in certain cases, and how to share the revenues if both parties agree to implement the car-park tariff in the future, he said."
Well the BIB certainly do know how to collect fees.
You can just imagine the joyous hand rubbing going on in Police Stations across the capital. It’s like every policeman’s birthday has come at once. Oh, the possibility for the abuse of on the spot fines for this one are enormous. And yet for all that, I bet it doesn’t improve Bangkok congestion even one iota…. In fact I bet due to the BIB involvement, it somehow gets worse.

Duplicate post. Sorry.

This Theerapong Rodpraser is a smart one. He has figured out that 2 months, not 3 months, is the length of time the Thai public need to forget ridiculous promises.

Well, I am sure it improved some peoples' quality of life, but I'm not so sure it was the farmers'.

Lets hope they have the intelligence to make sure there are suitable connections to other forms of transport at this new location?
So, haven't been in Thailand long then, eh?

Buy for time. Make ludicrous excuses. Eventually the public just through their arms up in despair and walk away. Life goes on.

A good journalist would be hunting the names of the persons making large donations to this Temple.
My guess.
Army / Police Generals, government workers and members of important families that can't be mentioned.
If this Monk is part of something bigger, that is, using the temple as a front to launder money, you can be sure corrupt officials, policemen, and mafioso types will have been using his services. Temple 'donations' are a great way to move money into monastic held accounts where the prying eyes of the AMLO cannot so easily go.
On the other hand, he could have just been ripping off his flock for all he could.
Most likely..... both.

"While many believe it is genuine, Pheu Thai MPs claim it was made to sabotage the Yingluck government."
This is all you need to keep the PTP believes happy. Anyone who says anything different, is just trying to discredit the government.
