  1. Yeah, it should now be mended.
  2. All. The email issue "should" be resolved. Please do report if you are still not receiving your mails.
  3. As I noted in an earlier post, part of what I do is study idiots users at customer facing interfaces. There are many, many variations on the theme. We develop a better interface, Mother Nature develops a better idiot! Life goes on.
  4. Tell me about it! And then the cashier "helpfully" splits the transaction so that they can get a till coupon to use on the rest of their purchase. You want frustration, try the Self-Checkout machines!
  5. Bu99er! You could go to a branch where they could fix that and enable PromptPay too ????
  6. Only if you / they are not prepared. Definitely annoying if they have to open the app, log in (forgot the passcode), find the scan" button etc. etc. I aim to not annoy those behind me, sadly others are not always so considerate ????
  7. Set it up via your banking App on the phone. As a foreigner you have to link to a Thai phone number.
  8. For PromptPay the seller will put up a QR code on their terminal, you scan that with your banking App "scan to pay" or similar option. Things go "beep", job done ???? Truemoney is the other way round, the QR displays on the phone and the cashier scans that. it still goes "beep" ????
  9. I decided to get a Seplos BMS which is one of the few DIY ones that will talk to my Sofar inverter (Sofar use the Pylontech CANbus protocol). Found a suitable one on AliExpress. $264 inc shipping isn't exactly cheap for a BMS but since it should be able to get better capacity out of my LiFePO4 cells by not treating them as lead-acid I decided to bite the bullet. It also included the LCD screen. Ordered and paid on Saturday. Sunday I get a message from the AliExpress seller:- Ouch! I'm not paying $424 for a BMS! Order cancelled refund in progress. Members on another solar-energy forum reported good results talking direct to Seplos so I contacted them via their website. Return email very rapidly from "Henry" who was happy to sell me one unit (some Chinese manufacturers won't give you time of day for less than 100), the LCD plus an RS-485 to USB converter and FedEx(DAP) 5 day shipping to Thailand for a total of $191 including AliBaba 4% service charge. I expect to pay VAT on the beast when it arrives but at 7% it won't break the bank. Saving of $75 over the original order price!
  10. It's probably steel studs, you should be able to drill it with decent quality twist drills (start small). The steel wont be very thick so once you have a hole regular self-tappers will hold. What do you intend putting on the shelves? Load spreading cavity fixings on the actual drywall may be easier/better.
  11. More ancient members may remember BTS introducing the machines that accepted banknotes with the big screen. Someone had the smart idea of showing advertising on the welcome screen (really the screen-saver). Net result, passengers stood there watching the adverts rather than actually buying tickets. Idea shelved
  12. If you have the phone-banking app it should be in there as an option. I think you can set up at an ATM too (may depend upon the bank), please make sure there's not a queue behind you ????
  13. This t-shirt I have ???? The cashier was less than diplomatic with the perp, I learned some new words in Thai that time???? EDIT I've not seen her since, hope she didn't get fired ????
  14. Part of what I do is analysing how people use "customer facing" interfaces. It's incredible how many people will queue for, say, an ATM, but wait until it says "please insert card" before rummaging in their bag for the relevant item ????
  15. Very true, but we are definitely not urban, our local songthaw has "short ride" and "long ride" QR codes in the back, just scan whilst riding and show the driver the "receipt" when you get off, faster than cash.
  16. Pretty similar really, I get the Truemoney QR up on the phone whilst the cashier is still scanning and put the phone where they can see it. They just scan the QR whilst I'm finishing packing. It's getting the app up and logged in that takes time and I do that before even joining the checkout queue.
  17. Hmmm, so increased consumption of rumpy-pumpy too ???? Madam insists on the A/C for any horizontal-jogging thus negating the non-use of the TV ????
  18. The only negative is that Makro won't accept TrueMoney if linked to a credit card, cash load only ???? Of course they accept the same CitiBank card as a physical card. TiT.
  19. I originally did PP with Bangkok Bank then moved it to SCB (cancel BB first), all done online, completely painless.
  20. I manage alone, but don't have a massive shop in Lotus's, that's done in Makro where the stuff stays in the basket.
  21. You can only link to a local phone number (not even a pink card) and only one bank account, but yes, non-Thais can have PromptPay.
  22. Yeah. Preparation is key. I can be done in Lotus's faster than cash when using TrueMoney but you have to think ahead.
  23. Now that Don Mueang tollway has EasyPass I hardly use cash, even the maid (she's about 90) is happy with PromptPay.
  24. A flame / troll post has been removed. It's probably a good idea to check the status of the viewing members before posting
