Yeah, I think this thread has run its course, time to turn off life-support. If anyone has a really (really, really) good reason to re-open please PM me or another on-line Mod.

Franklin submersible non-stop run time limits?
Crossy replied to unheard's topic in The Electrical Forum
Does the pump or controller have "run-dry" protection? Maybe the collective experience is that the bores can't support continuous operation and the pumps get exposed (so no cooling water) and get fried. -
I would have everything EXCEPT the freezer on an RCD/RCBO (and the freezer needs a proper ground). It really depends upon whether the ice-cream is more valuable than your, or your family's life. As with many things in Thailand, it's UP2U. EDIT To save on re-wiring you can get RCBO's in small boxes which you could place under the bar. 500 Baht ish. Look like this (cobwebs optional extra)
-
Yes ^^^ that works IF your system is correctly grounded as MEN (Or TNS which is very rare here). Our freezers are on separate unprotected circuits. Or use an auto-reclose RCD https://www.lazada.co.th/products/geya-grd9l-r-auto-recloser-type-rccb-rcd-elcb-40a-63a-30ma-100ma-300ma-safety-breaker-i4152763606-s16301156124.html NOTE The above is just an RCD it also needs an MCB for over-current protection.

Not seen since January ???? Let's not turn this into a Missing Persons thread please.

Switch on Grid Export on Solar Inverter
Crossy replied to eddysacc's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
This unit doesn't have a Current Transformer (CT) to sense the grid current, instead it uses an accessory they call a Smart Meter. You will need one of these in order to control whether you export or not, hopefully your supplier will be able provide (and it won't be silly money - CTs are really cheap). EDIT Looks like a couple of k Baht http://www.ideasolarshop.com/product/348/smart-meter-กันย้อน-single-phase-invt There's a bunch on Lazada too, some a bit cheaper. Of course part of the Smart Meter is a CT ???? -
Switch on Grid Export on Solar Inverter
Crossy replied to eddysacc's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Looks like a neat install ???? Do you have a link to the manual for your inverter, we need to see what it can do. EDIT Also what kind of electricity meter do you have, spinning disc or electronic? -
The problem is that any mesh small enough to stop the beasties will restrict the airflow needed for cooling, and that will likely invalidate whatever warranty remains.
-
it is, but it is also usage linked, over 500kWh = zero discount.
-
Ditto. I've never had an issue with getting a refund on a wrong/fake item, follow the procedure and it just works. I did have a minor irritation over and empty box which involved chatting to what I strongly suspect was a bot, but that was ultimately solved too.

WISE Card is accepted in supermarkets?
Crossy replied to lyskamm's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Yeah, it's Visa so it should be good anywhere that the Visa sign is displayed. Others have noted that it does indeed work in the "seven" ???? -
How to sign up Thai expat daughter for B30 health plan?
Crossy replied to unblocktheplanet's topic in Health and Medicine
@Sheryl Thanks for that, one could have hoped for a degree of integration, but of course TiT. -

What symbols (VISA, MasterCard etc.) does your card have? -
Quoted 3 million THB from PEA to get 400 Amp Service onsite!
Crossy replied to ElephantEgo's topic in The Electrical Forum
OK so your required supply is a TOTAL of 400A @ 220V (it will be a 3-phase supply about 130A per phase) about 90kVA. I would say 3 million is well over the top. 70m x 4 of 130A cable - say 95mm2 aluminium or 70mm2 copper talk to SK Unversal ([email protected]) for pricing. Do you have an itemised quote for exactly what PEA are going to provide? -
Do you have the board out? Can you post photos showing the board and any part numbers on it please?

Solar power, can it be done DIY?
Crossy replied to Sophon's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Swimming or mud-bathing then ???? -
I would contact them via FaceBook messenger and verify if this is legit. Are you a YouTube channel subscriber, did you actually enter any draw or competition? Why are they using Telegraph not Messenger? Are they Thailand based? If so, why are they calling in the middle of the night? It definitely smells of a scam, but one never knows.

Solar power, can it be done DIY?
Crossy replied to Sophon's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Whilst you are waiting for your ground mount to grow I would top-balance your cells. To do this connect them all in parallel, set your bench or other power supply to 3.6V (without the cells connected), connect the power supply to the cells and monitor the current. DO NOT ADJUST THE POWER SUPPLY!! Read this ^^^ again!! Once the current approaches zero (it will take a long, long time, dependent on the current available from your power supply) your cells will be ready to make into your pack. Which BMS are you going to use? -
New Mower Required - Petrol/Gasoline not battery.

Yeah, I noticed that he seems to have the handle at "farang height". Height is adjustable ???? -
New Mower Required - Petrol/Gasoline not battery.
Crossy replied to Crossy's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
We are (actually just over 1.5 Rai) ???? The weak point of all the cordless beasties is going to be the battery. Unlike your EV, these things will use the cheapest cells they can obtain and push them hard, leading to short battery life and fun finding a replacement pack. -
New Mower Required - Petrol/Gasoline not battery.
Crossy replied to Crossy's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
It looks like the pack uses standard 18650 Li-ion cells so getting it re-celled shouldn't be an issue. Best to ask the seller if extra/replacement packs are available, and get at least one (then it can be charging whilst you continue mowing). -
I (almost) never use the handbrake (exceptions, steep hills and the like of course), manual truck gets parked in-gear, auto just in "Park". If it's not applied the brake can't seize "on".

Don't worry, Madam is on the case. I expect to be visiting the farm shop later/tomorrow to load up with (and pay for ???? ) bags of mysterious unguents (formulation and purpose unknown). She does the gardening; I go out and earn the $$$ to pay for the gardening ????

One last post before this thread drifts off into the sunset. There is/was a large pile of sand left over from bag filling located directly across the road from our gate. The village head came on the speakers saying if anyone wanted some to help themselves, free! Madam is a sucker for "free" so she and a couple of friends spent the morning with wheelbarrows making a significant dent in said pile. Much soil improvement in the works (apparently, it's the "wrong type" of sand for concrete).

Can anyone recco a good printer that is available in Thailand ?
Crossy replied to Pumpuynarak's topic in IT and Computers
Ours is a Canon imageCLASS MF635Cx Color Multi-Function Printer with Duplex/LAN/WiFi (now discontinued). Cost 15,500 in 2018 when we bought it (from Invade). Does two-sided scanning and printing. Like other lasers it just prints, first time every time. EDIT The updated version https://www.invadeit.co.th/product/multi-function-printers/canon/imageclass-mf643cdw-multi-function-colour-printer-print-scan-copy-duplex-lan-wifi-p046838/ is 13,910 at Invade
