Thai PM stays busy in Switzerland Yes please!
-
Have never been pulled on middle name not being included on boarding passes, and as you say with AA there is no field for it. Also therefore the booking doesn't match credit card it was booked on. Could try inputting given and middle names in first field, but probably won't accept the space. Airlines should really get their S together as it could potentially catch a lot of people out if immigration start getting all silly and anal about middle names. But isn't it just grand everything getting tighter and tighter? Makes one feel glad all over that the powers that be are looking out for us...

Thailand aims for 40 million tourists and 3.5 trillion baht revenue
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What a horrible prospect. Thailand is already too busy with half that number—which it isn’t as they count the same people repeatedly visiting as other people. Whatever happened to attracting quality not quantity? Say one thing, do the opposite. -
Prison officials say Thaksin eligible for parole

Never had an issue with them since they started (other than the annoying sales spiel in three languages when in the air) and they have good connections others don’t, but will always use Smile/Thai where possible when making home country connection. Dunno if this potential merger would be a benefit though.

Risk of bursting washing machine water hose?
daveAustin replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in DIY Forum
Never happened to me or anyone I know. They’re always on for this very reason, most being permanently installed. Those hoses are also well engineered, at least on decent brands. Get into the habit of knocking off water when away for more than a day. -
Thailand and Palestine to join forces to free Thai hostages
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No love for either side of this debacle but Thailand really does know how to get it wrong and say dopey things. They’ll get in bed with anyone if it furthers their ends or appears to make them look good. -
Who gives a flying F! You know what, there is this little nugget called death, the ultimate brain damage, and we will all do it. If people want to be boring bstards all their lives by not imparting risk or experience, that is totally fine and up to them, but they should stop telling people what to do!
-
Bit of an old man comment. So what! Let people choose their poison; that is what this is all about. Most users will do so now and then and that is fine, and certainly fine compared with regular alcohol or hard drug use. You will always get heavy users; banning it again will not stop that. But again, up to them. Enough with pissant governments telling people what to do!

If these DH politicians up there were serious they would ban the smoking tuk-tuks and sawngthaews. Sad to see those horrible F things still polluting the place.

Almost denied entry Hat Yai airport
daveAustin replied to Bong317's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Are you sure about that? It does happen. Sometimes an immigration officer will randomly pull one aside and bully you even if they're wrong, not checking themselves because of face. I got accosted at a land border doing a 90-day bounce on a genuine UK-issued multi O and they would not have it, saying it was fake etc. Got the supervisor involved and they totally brushed them off, embarrassing the other IO, apologies etc. Of course you've gotta be careful nowadays with 30-day waivers and tourist visas (are you a tourist?), but sometimes immigration get it completely wrong. -
How much cash do you have? More than you Seriously though, there are people here with hundreds of millions. I could have been one of them--early adopter bitcoin miner 2008, pushed it aside etc--but also elected to do some proper living at the expense of building massive wealth. Who cares, just listen to good music and be in the moment.

Thai Government Debates Alcohol Advertising, Sales Hours

Swear on ThaiVisa... Go to jail sin bin -
It is pretty funny, but the thing is it pokes fun at the bar girl scene while making it out to be all Thai women which is why the fickle Thai TikTok masses are pissed. Something like 0.1% of Indian blokes would ever get to meet a normal Thai lovely, who would never speak in such a manner. I’m all up for banning Indians because of this outrage lol. 😀

Thai Government Debates Alcohol Advertising, Sales Hours
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why not just blur everything? Better still, make everyone wear blindfolds when in Thailand so they don’t see F all! Jeeezus! -
There is not one country where obligatory mask wearing is part of a culture of caring for others. Stop making stuff up. People do it because they are told to or because they think it prevents them getting sick. The latter has likely caused covid to drag on.

Sad old dinosaurs can baulk all they want; weed made legal was a boon for Thailand, a real move forward. This illegal gov reneging on that puts it firmly back into old tyrant dinosaur territory.

Most people stating the obvious here like they’re the first to think of it. 🙄 Of course they’re just searches, but if you’re interested in the relative harmony of the place and availability of accommodation/transport, this should still make one slightly nervous. Eventually they’ll pile back in en-masse.

Thai traditional dress set to be listed on UNESCO
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They’ll have khao pat on the list next if they haven’t already. 😋 To be fair the ladies do look good when attired in traditional garb. I do, however, prefer the Vietnamese ao dai in white look.
