Boundary wall.

Certainly don't accept it, esp with husband being a lawyer. He has likely eff'd over enough people in his time. -
Air quality concerns threaten Thailand's tourism growth
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Stop people burning and smoke belching vehicles! Big fines/imprisonment for perpetrators. Chiang Mai has fairly decent air in cool season but anywhere near a road is a nightmare with the disgusting sawngthaews and esp tuk tuks. It is not against Thai culture to hate these but absolutely is Thai culture to put up with it. Enough! Get in the 21st century already! -

Massive crackdown on scam calls: Over 13,000 SIM cards suspended
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Go after the phone companies you ass^*^%#%!!!!! One has to ACTIVELY tell them to not allow marketing messages/calls through. Ok, anyone can call anyone, but they are absolutely complicit here (and likely getting backhanders) with letting your number out willy-nilly. #2 DO NOT ANSWER PHONE OR MESSAGES FROM UNRECOGNISED CONTACTS -
Not read all replies, but I would keep them active and open. It is already very difficult to open a Thai bank account if you don't have your ducks lined up. There's a couple hundred baht charge a year for atm card, but you don't even need one of them now. But they will shutdown automatically after something like 12 months inactivity. Made the mistake when I moved home for a few years and did not maintain activity, and then it was a MASSIVE PITA and really expensive to reopen one with the same bank!

Surge in Covid-19 infections and rising death toll in Thailand
daveAustin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Wow, how many adjectives can one stuff into a sensationalist article! 'Staggering', 'surge', 'skyrocketing', 'grim', 'stark', 'serious', 'urgently', 'shockingly' ad nauseam! Stop spreading this garbage! You are not helping anyone. All it does is create unwanted angst among an already highly stressed society. Test the entire world population right this minute and several hundred million will be infected with C19. Those that perish typically have underlying issues and might also die from a cold. S happens, but we seriously need to move on from this tat! -
How many of you are tossers ?
daveAustin replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
It's of course bad in Thailand and the locals are typically terrible for littering, young and old. Still nothing like the 'good ole' days in England when tossers would routinely wind down their window and strew trash across the countryside! Whenever I return 'home' now I am blown away by how clean the roads are. Something like a 5000 baht equivalent fine for littering there now and thousands of pounds if one is a tosser enough to challenge one's wayward ways in court. -
It's a race to the bottom and many nations do it. What are the alternatives? Problem is, the US has such a messed up electoral system (only the high monied survive) that you don't get to see many decent, hardworking leaders. Trump does get a bad rap, however. He's a massive pr!ck but is scapegoated and not all the evil that people make out. Again, easy mistake and puerile to denigrate an entire nation on the will of the few to elect this or that douche.

Australia vs America

Awful article but yes Oz has always been all over the US for liveability. Both stunning countries of course, but safety alone Oz would always win. -
How Can I Help My 10 Year Old Thai 'Stepdaughter'?
daveAustin replied to siftasam's topic in Chiang Mai
Well said. What is up with that dude? Another one! Have any idea of what I think about you now? Are you guys mouthing off for kicks, perhaps drunk, or is your heart really that black? Yuck. Why would someone the op has absolutely zero connection with be more deserving than a kid he has come to love? Bizarre train of thought. Don't reply, it is rhetorical. I would look to do exactly the same in trying to out all the while keeping monies away from a devious wench. Anyone who would just walk away and take their money to the grave with them needs to have a very close look in the mirror! -
Chinese new year holiday expected to boost Thailand’s tourism revenue
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why do the Chinese pile in here to celebrate their new year? Stay home among your own, guys. -
Why does God >insert your grievance here<....?
daveAustin replied to Sunmaster's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Also the potential for each and every one of us in being god. All 7-8 billion of us could be just one and we might be living all those lives, along with every other living thing, sequentially and yet concurrently. Again, our limited brain thingies could not really entertain that kind of carry-on either + out of the realm of this humble topic. -
Medical evacuation doesn't always go well - Utapao news report
daveAustin replied to simon43's topic in Health and Medicine
By being anal and posting a tastier tempter with thumbnail etc. Steven does that kind of thing If they ran out of fuel, that is a big screw up as would have needed to top her up en route. They don't have huge range. -
Why does God >insert your grievance here<....?
daveAustin replied to Sunmaster's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Not religious but find atheists a bit presumptuous. I mean, how do they know for certain? Having an agnostic mindset is surely more logical... don't know either way. Of a god and why this and that; our pathetic little limited organic brains could not fathom such a thing and there's no point in trying to reason it. He/she/it could not give a flying one what one does. The universe likely built us to look upon itself and know itself; that is it. But to worship what one does not know in the hope that a potential next life will be better is probably not a good idea. An omnipotent entity would see right through that kind of egoistic ruse. -
People Equally Divided Over Anti-Thaksin Protests Erupting: NIDA Poll
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
He’s a one for sure and firmly in dinosaur-should-not-be-allowed-to-govern category now, but the Thais should have got on the streets when the army took the country 10 years ago! They are apathetic like that. -
Sorry to resurrect old topic, but have just had the displeasure of being hit by the exorbitant Thai Post fees in merely sending a letter. Insane price and a really bad transit time. Literally on the order of several hundred percent in returning the same letter back to the UK. Passport required etc etc. What is going on? Thailand does a lot of things right and I generally like how smooth things can be, but when they get things wrong, they really stink. Haven't sent anything for a good 10 years and never will again.

Thaksin and digital wallet can converge to form political tsunami
daveAustin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Could do with another tsunami to ‘converge’ over this dirty lot. -
Blah blah. Get over it, dinosaurs. Too late now. ‘The risks associated with recreational use?’ Best off focus on roads and liver disease through drunkenness methinks.
