  1. If I ever have another wife, I would prefer to sleep in separate countries.
  2. What about bringing foreign cash in and exchanging say 150k baht worth at Superrich? Would they likely have that angle covered, too? I know you have to hand over your passport...
  3. Took me less than an hour to do my last extension, including the copying and filling out the form etc. 1,900 baht. Each to their own, but risking one's passport for a bit of time saved is nuts in my book. If there is one visa area that will see a crackdown, it will be agents circumventing the financial requirements.
  4. Government needs to get off its ass regards private hospitals as it does sorting the soi dog problem and other pressing issues. I’ve had pretty good experiences with public and private hospitals (as an outpatient) but there is clearly a thing with the latter regards money when one is in serious strife. They are a business first, healthcare provider second, and we all know routine treatment and medication are ridiculously inflated. Change your system, you greedy so ‘n sos!!!
  5. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Not traditional xmas movie, but they always had it on. ;-)
  6. Think you missed the irony there, John
  7. On matters such as this, I guess it is. Few places in Asia are otherwise, but I guess the rest of the world ain't much different if you are seriously moneyed-up corrupt. But as a country 'pathetic', no. I would never live here if I thought that. As to this issue, articles and press releases such as this do not help and will not assuage a skeptical public. They should afford each and every sick prisoner this kind of treatment if it is not deemed as special. That is what is pathetic. Just come out and say it, Thaksin is not an ordinary person. We all know it anyway!
  8. Bit rough even for you, Steven. Most 7 girls are relatively switched on. Guessing it was LOTUS as they are hopeless with their pricing. I would probably have also questioned it. A, it might be picked up at the till, B, weigher would get in trouble. Yep, I’m a sucker like that.
  9. Maybe they ask because if it’s not life savings it could be easier to walk away, although I would not do that. Have you tried approaching a law firm outside Phuket for advice like Siam Legal? Many families are all tied in with that island. All the best.
  10. So they all piled in at the last minute to enjoy a couple hours drinking time 😂 Ho ho ho I love the TAT 😋
  11. I don't (get scammed monthly), certainly not by immigration. Sure, been overcharged here and there and it is annoying when it happens, Thais regularly get shafted too, but it is what it is and I wouldn't try to recoup losses by targeting random people.
  12. Rarely indulge, but life was better before that and the internet / social media in general... or so it seems, guess it's all relative. Getting hold of a mag as a teen was a buzz, but having it on-hand 24-7 probably desensitises people somewhat, and might upset the call to interact and 'make babies'.
  13. There will be a catch or fall guy (someone else will pay) because stuff typically doesn’t come free in thighland.
  14. Or if you have income in 2024 and remit in the same year it’s taxable, if you send in 2025 it’s not. Is the ‘scheme’ starting from 2024 or including current tax year?
  15. 300 baht tourist tax scrapped lol. Never saw that one coming. Perhaps the brainiacs that want to tax us all will also do an u-turn. 🙄
  16. You could reduce it by half and I bet the vendors would not do so in kind, or by a paltry amount. Going by local wages—and even compared to ‘first world’ countries—alcohol is grossly overpriced here, esp decent beer and wine.
  17. All about sales. It means very little to most Thais. Don't blame them either; so ott in the West.
  18. Guaranteed Thailand would find itself on the ‘right’ side if any spat were to erupt.
  19. … in Thailand. Didn’t work out well for Madoff or myriad wealthy others in the rest of the universe.
  20. That’s the effect humanity has on the world in general. We all need to go I’m afraid. But yes it would be nice to have it as it was and for most people to stay in their own backyard… esp the high populace countries.
  21. Not surprised. Tougher nowadays with lots of stamps. You should get a real visa through marriage, that’ll satisfy them. Only problem is you’ll have to put up with wives and families n shiit. 👍
  22. Why do people feel the need to eat such exotic foodstuffs? Typically a Chinese/Asian thing. It’s this wet market messing about with animals that has brought lovely delights like covid19 and gawd knows what else. Leave them be! If you can’t get it up, try viagra of a leech!
  23. What a load of old mawkish twaddle. Most Thais make absolutely F all from them. If they did, then since covid they should have diversified and got into weed. I see you also defend the Russians and Indians. How’s about the Mongolians and Vietnamese? If you’ve got skin in the game and your business depends on these fine folk, then fair enough. If not, then see above; mawkish twaddle.
  24. Highly unlikely, bring it in with laptop bag as opposed to new box. If they checked everyone that brought in laptops, you'd never get beyond customs. Have brought several new ones in over the years.
