  1. Paid 26.000 THB and 1600 for books and 2600 for uniforms. They called it English program, think it should been called Phillippine program.

Perhaps their mother or father should have paid, if it makes you moan.

Well I did pay for my son's semester (what is it you don't understand?), and was told that there will be native speaking Farangs as teachers and what we got was 2 Philippino girls as teachers, even the Scottish teacher he had before were easier to understand compared to the Philippino girls. Sadly education is all business and greed here.

Well are you going to ask for your money back or be the normal, "take or up the !£&@" farang and say nothing.

If there was an alternative in this small town I would, but with only one school with an "English" program not much to do than complain to the school (and been here too long time to expect that I will get any refund from Thai people or companies). Will bring my son later to Malaysia or Singapore as a Thai education is just waste of time and money.

  3. Shipping more goods by train in Thailand would save the country money in the long run, but I can't see that the high speed rails will make money here. Even if the local Minivans and busses are death traps, the locals will use them before the trains.

I predict you are mistaken in your analyses.

There will be more than enough people using the train services while the current BTS system is a perfect example of a successful enterprise that is now over crowded by all the people using the service...but not totally overcrowded like in Hong Kong and Japan.

I remember the first day the Silom Line opened and I was on the train at the Surasak Station, early in the morning and myself and only 3 or 4 other people were on the train to Siam and picked up several more people along the way.

6 months later the trains were crowded and have been ever since.

I remember they were interviewing Thai people on TV and asking them about their thoughts and opinions on the new BTS system while most of them said it was too expensive or way too expensive and they would not use the system.

It did not matter what they said ...the system is used by more than enough people to make it a profitable affair and you see, all theses years later, huge amounts of people use the system and pay the price for the time saved and the convenience.

Back then I was hoping they would have interviewed me about the service and whether I would use it because I would have told them the service is perfect because:

:The service is conveniently provided to the Golden Triangle area of Bangkok"....Pat Pong ....Nana....and Soi Cowboy...the 3 most important points in Bangkok....lol

    Cheers

I am talking about the high speed trains connecting Bangkok to Rayong and to Hua Hin worth 152 billion baht and 94.6 billion baht respectively, not the BTS lines.

  4. Any way, it's good to see their getting their moneys worth out of the old M48 tanks!

Must be well made tanks, they were produced between 1953 and 1959!!!

B-52s first started flying in 1953, some Brit APCs in use since the 60- if it works why mess with it. M-48s are adequate for any perceived threat in Thailand so why update? I can remember in 1989 an M3 half track (WW2 vintage) rumbling past at Utapao- it was immaculate.

With a defence budget of 207 Billion THB you would expect modern weapons, not 50 year old tanks. Has there ever been a transparent auditing of how they spend the taxpayers money?

  5. First honest statement I have heard coming from Phua Thai. The times they are a changin...

You are joking right? Or are you really that naive?

Simply PT having a go, and hoping they will one day be back on top of the shit heap and in control off the trough.

What did they do about fighting corruption? Oh yes, they had their pretty pictured with a nice anti-corruption banner and lied when challenged on anything.

What did they do about people trafficking, slave workers, land encroachment by their cronies, etc etc - nowt.

I'm not suggesting that this government has done much either.

    But PTP = honest cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Do I have to underline first honest statement or?

You can underline it, write it in red, and do what you like.

If you think PTP are honest, have turned over a new leaf, or won't lie when it suits, then good luck to you.

Now, how do you think they would have reacted if a group of students or any citizens had turned up at their offices and demanded to check the accounts of the rice scheme for corruption?

Probably in the same way as the rulers of the day, arrest them, harass them (and their mothers) and charge them with defamation.

  6. First honest statement I have heard coming from Phua Thai. The times they are a changin...

Honest? This statement came from perhaps the most corrupt party ever. I would call it a disingenuous statement. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

I wrote first honest statement, if you didn't notice it.
