When you have to "assure" investors something stinks.

Defense duties will be transferred to Army Region 4 and local security units from October 1st onwards.
Just seems to be changing the guard.
Local security units are private (aka contract) security troops who seem to be assuming greater authority in the transfer. Thus, possibly less accountability without Army oversight.
Been down there twice during the last 2 months on my way back from Malaysia and don't think it will make any change what kind off forces they got there as the local muslims are not very happy with the Thai government, you find a much harder line of Muslims in this area compared to the west coast (Satun province) saw many females with Burkas, not the normal head scarfs used in most other areas.
The offshore natural gas and oil fields are worth a lot for Thailand so I doubt that they will give up the area.

Are they really sure it's not by 49%

Maybe they should get some help from Rodrigo Duterte!

Are they capitulating?

I remember Thaksin's chicken cooking show on TV and when he lied to EU that there was no Chicken flu in Thailand, hope this is not a similar cover up.

Srisuwan Janya : you better and all the rest of having same mind than this stupid guy - anything you have in this modern world in Thailand is designed, produced, build from foreigners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing is created from Thais!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, what about the cure for Ebola
And we shall not forget "The Sick Buffalo scam" it's a splendid scam invented by Thais

Dear Khun Srisuwan , did your wife run of with a foreigner?

Sounds like the talks failed.

The famous Thai "planning" strikes again! You would think when you invest billions in a new National airport you put the first floor higher than any possible flooding level.
-
As the bombings down there happens almost on a daily basis, the government does not need to lie if they say tomorrow that the situation is back to normal.

At least Thailand is never boring, the amazing news coming almost daily now are very entertaining!

Hoping to be a leading IT country but unwilling to spend any serious money on more submarine internet cables
They just got seven submarine cable lines, mostly owned and operated by CAT Telecom, while Singapore has 20 and Malaysia 12.

Found lower prices for booze downtown compared to the airport duty free store!

As they say south of the border - Don't Thai to me.

"We already know who's behind it"
and further down in the article:
Krisana said the investigation needed to extend into who was behind the attack

Here comes some of her other great ideas:
"When tourists check-in to a hotel they will be given a wristband with a serial number that matches their I.D. and shows the contact details of the resort they are staying in so that if they're out partying late and, for example, get drunk or lost, they can be easily assisted," Kobkarn told Reuters.
"The next step would be some sort of electronic tracking device but this has not yet been discussed in detail."
She added that a "buddy system", pairing tourists with a local minder at tourist destinations, was also being discussed.

'Letters from Thailand' is a excellent read about how a Chinese immigrant (who fled China 1959) classified the Thai workers, should be re-introduced in all Thai schools again (and maybe also to the ones in charge of the country right now).
Is there a link? I'd love to read that.
Winnie
Don't know if you find it online as it is an old book

So what's their plan to stop further bombs??? Death patrols like Marcos in Mindanao or the soft approach or maybe move the whole population of Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani to Malaysia? Think they got no idea at all.

I got lost on Koh Samet in 1987. Quite easy when taking pills, Thai rum and a few j's.
I got lost in the old Thermee coffee shop and woke up with a stunner in an other province.
