And an other clarification to obscure the obvious .....
-
I don't see anything debatable on this THAI (not foreign) research
and sure they are not wrong with their findings, I just wonder, how
do our western countries compare? Are there any similar researches
done in the different western countries?
How many western kids grow up with Au-Pairs taking care of them?
How many western kids are send to nursery school at the age of 3
or even younger not because of the parents supporting the whole
family but because both parents work in order to maintain their
consumer habits?
How many western grandparents live at home and can take care
of their grand children and are not just dumped in some horrible
"old people's prison" ?
Not that I would say one is worse or better than the other as it
seams, both approaches have about the same impact on our
future generation. -

..."the national ratio of 21 per cent of children who live with caregivers, such as their grandparents, has alarmed experts from overseas."
Those "experts from overseas" sometimes seem to have a small problem with understanding that they cannot project their values and opinions upon another culture.
Those "TV readers from overseas" sometimes seem to have a small problem reading and understanding the context of news articles.
In your eyes, does:
Associate Prof. Sutham Nantamongkolchai, a researcher at Mahidol University's Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR) ......
or Associate Prof. Aree Jampaklay sound foreign to you???
BTW, read again. it was NOT the UNICEF who conducted the research.
Mahidol University conducted the research SUPPORTED by the UNICEF
Sooo, your statement is, well, rubbish

Then again thats why the better off send their kids abroad for an education, the grades actually have to be earned so they are well aware of meaningful standards.
Well, I went to a private school and sure, my grades had to be earned
but I'm pretty sure, my dad had to earn a lot more for them, then I did.
Eventually, I got them too. Was only a matter of time and money ;-) -
Thailand expects to fall into the bottom tier of the watch list on human trafficking. Officials aren’t happy.
Quote from March 23, 2012 - thediplomat.comOpps sorry, old news but sounded just like today's news

Well as the Thai Ambassador to the US said:
"... our vigorous, government-wide efforts that yielded unprecedented progress and concrete results"
What efforts? Suing and jailing journalists for defamation? -
Wonder how long it goes until we read:
"resolutely punish anyone who dares slander the dignity of its supreme leadership"
here in the LOS-

"What are you looking at?"
"Nothing."
"Don't call me nothing." Followed by a barrage of swinging arms & fists from the cowardly gang.
Happened to me when I was 16 outside a bible class dance. There were no drugs in those days but there were gangs who's idea of a fun night out was to get into a fight & beat up people.
I cite this as an example to show that drugs were not necessarily part of the equation. There are plenty of other possible reasons, none of them justified, for this senseless brutality.
Well, such sensless actions not only happen in Thailand or "back in time".
I recon the Brits are number one on that sport. Go in to any A&E in the
UK on a Friday or Saturday night and you'll see, that's still a common
past time for English youths to fight, kick and stab each other just for
the sake of it.
Where I lived, we even had two police officers stationed at A&E during
weekends as some idiots even started fighting with the people who were
there to help them. Most, although not all, were on drugs, mainly alcohol.
Now I know plenty of other countries where people get drunk without
having to loose all inhibitions and fight without consideration. I would
not always blame it on drugs but more on family values and education
or lack of it,
I believe, those places in the world were people don't have much to
say, that's the places where frustrated people turn on to themselves
and start behaving like savages.

I only got some papers from my accountant, my blue book and
my passport and went to Kota Bharu to renew my Non O and
work permit. Did not have any medical and only two passport
pictures for my visa.I only went for a medical years ago when I applied the first time
for my work permit and for my driving licence. Never since.I used to do it all by myself but that was always a pain in the arse
and sure, there was always some papers missing, not up to date
or I had to much documents.
No idea what I would need if I only go to immigration but
Malaysia once a year is fine for me ;-) -
Yet another senseless violent crime on Phuket.
Must have been drugged up local youths, as robbery doesn't appear to be the motive.
I hope they apprehend them quickly, and get them off the streets, for the public's safety.
"Must have been drugged up local youths,"
Why?
Some people look at the world as it is and constantly ask the question:
"WHY?"
Other people dream of the things that never were and say:
"WHY NOT!"

<snip>
Most Thais are either eating noodle soup or sleeping all day long,
<snip>
Blimey, I must be Thai.
That explains my wife beating, drink driving, nose picking, farang hating, reading avoidance, butt scratching, and total ignorance about everything.
T
Is she doing that whilst sleeping or eating noodle soup?

2015 Thailand is going to be a nightmare
(for the local workers as they will be legally undercut by cheap legal labour) Karma at its best... som nam na
I take it from your comments that you probably don't live here or if you do you don't like Thailand or it's people. So why are you on TV?
Ohh bugger,
I didn't know it's a precondition to live in Thailand, to like the place
and to love the Thai people, in order to be a member on this forum?

Now that's just soooo British.Did they have English teachers?

......... I guess every culture has idioms 'don't bite the hand that feeds you' and 'don't poke a sleeping bear' ........
"Not biting the hand that feeds you"
"Taking the wind out of the sails"
"Pissing against the wind"
Although those proverbs exist in Thai language,
I'm not so sure, Thai's know what they mean.
My hand get's bitten all the time
"Don't poke a sleeping bear" Well, I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Most Thais are either eating noodle soup or sleeping all day long,
so no chance they poke anyone. Biting and chewing is more their thing
-
Lucky they are Thai, naa?
Here, Thai people can always make a good bad choice.
Psychiatry, prison or temple. Which one would "you" chose?
I'm sure we would have a lot less "quality farang" here in the LOS,
if only we would have those choices in the western world -
"...Buddhism, a religion that counts an estimated 95 percent of its 67 million population as devotees...."
i'm not so sure how accurate that is. i don't believe it is.
Believe it mate. It's fairly accurate, apart from that small spelling mistake:
Buddhism, Bath-ism, a religion that counts an estimated 95 percent of its 67 million population as devotees. -
We? I don't remember Bush / Cheney asking us? They should be sent over there to deal with the mess.
Off course Americans were ask and,
you re-elected that clown again.

We Americans sure opened this can 'o worms.
If only Saddam had not been involved in the 9/11 terror attacks against the US.
My mistake, I meant if only Saddam did not have an active WMD program and a stockpile of those WMD's then the US would never had to go in there.
Do you mean Americans where in Iraq?
Are you sure that's not just a rumour?
I have it from authentic sources. Many authentic sources.
"There
arewhere no Americans in Baghdad. They all committed suicide" -
"We want to stress that the rumour among immigrants that police and troops are using violence against the immigrants is completely untrue,".......... and resorted to a disproportionate action. The police do not condone this action."
Soooo, - does that mean they approved of this volunter's action?
Maybe that's the reason there is no finger pointing?
Maybe you should look up "condone" in a dictionary and you'd be able to answer your own question.
Ohh bugger, mixed that condo, condoned, condemned and condom up again
Blame it on that "High IQ" TFEL teacher I met in Mc Donalds
I knew I shoudn't use a french guy to teach me english
-
Well look at the positive side,
are not aware of the decade old "fuel", "baggage", "seating", "administration",
"service","credit card" and "give me a smile" surchargesAs the high IQ forum members would say; "If those 86% don't like it - then walk"
(Just to keep up with the most stupid comment ever made)
-
"We want to stress that the rumour among immigrants that police and troops are using violence against the immigrants is completely untrue,".......... and resorted to a disproportionate action. The police do not condone this action."

No finger pointing on the picture... <deleted>!?!?! Is that only for the bad stupid farangs caught in "Be happy" Thailand?
If you don't like anything about the place, I suggest you remove yourself forthwith and stop your suffering.
If you are not in Thailand, then <deleted>.
Just such an amazing place. I recon this:
"You can leave if you don't like it .... bla, bla, bla"
must be the top runner in the "stupid comment" poll.

Just one of many reports.
10 April 2014
Two people were killed and at least 12 others were injured Wednesday when a truck
full of illegal immigrants crashed into a ditch as it was being pursued by .........
Texas police
Just wonder, why are not suddenly all the illegal Mexicans fleeing the states now?
Maybe the US could learn a bit from Thailand, in how to produce mass hysteria ?

Not arguing with his poor England form. Arguing with your assertion that poor form for the national side equals a not world class player. Plenty of examples of world class players who have, for one reason or another, failed to deliver on the international stage.Rooney couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo when it comes to the World Cup. Live with it.
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
Fully agree with you - got plenty of examples,
