My question was has anybody owned up to the dwp about taking pension increases whilst in thailand,

Do they take money transfer  or reduce pension ?

    Each individual case is different.

If you are prepared to be a tad deceitful (and you have been anyway) just call the IPC in Newcastle and tell them that you have decided to reside permanently in Thailand. Since retirement you have struggled with English winters and, having regularly visited Thailand, you have now decided that you are unlikely to return.

A friend did exactly that and they just said "you do realise that you will no longer be entitled to the annual increase"..........that was it.

You know why its the usual, 'it's part of Thai culture' explanation ??.....   Because it is !!!

What we see as corruption the west is at the very heart the Culture and 'cost of doing business' here - its just not seen as a bad thing, its seen a normal every day life...

    - Pay 500 baht to get your Certificate of Residence sooner rather than waiting two weeks...

    - Allow agents to Queue jump and process visas & extensions more quickly... there's a cost for that.

    - Allow the same agents the 'efficiency' of not checking their paperwork in detail / allow flexibility on some details...  there's a cost for that.

As I mentioned, I know a number of Police and Immigration officers very well...

YOU personally may not see this every time you walk into an Immigration Office or Police station, or do any business here... but the 'facilitation fee' is very much a facet of every day life here.

Thaksin is the epitome of this element of Thai culture.

Of course he robbed the country blind.............the Thais know that - but they also know he did some good for the country; being accredited with the 30 Baht health scheme for example

For one thing the misguided attempt to prevent the fraudsters by making applicants leave the money in the bank for 3 months after the extension and then half of it until the next seasoning period. You seem to think all offices and IO are corrupt, they are not which is why agents often need to go up country where they are.

I have not come across, nor heard of,  any Immigration office that is not corrupt.

    You don't?

    Then what's the accepted qualification?

That question is better directed at Immigration - although there is an accepted convention in the west that 'families' are not split up. @theoldgitmay have more insight on that.

IMO if you look like a couple then you will not have a problem; they didn't ask if we had been together for 18 years - or whether I had just barfined the missus!

I'm going to answer your original question rather than digressing onto the other immigration related issues here. Yes, it is much easier to enter Thailand with a Thai spouse, as you are allowed to go into the line for Thais only with a Thai spouse, and that does speed up the process.

Just to add to that - you don't have to be married.

TM30 registered 2016. Exit and renter every year with Retirement extension. Last entered end of September 2023 with old and new passports. 2 weeks later visited Jomtien to move stamps to new passport, no mention of doing a new TM30. End of December 2023 registered my 90 day report online, accepted by immigration, no mention of having to visit to do a new TM30.

    Thank you.

That is how it should be. BUT Jomtien changed their requirements last year.

I wonder if they have now had a change of heart and your visits fell between the dates when they enforced the 'current TM30 receipt' rule.

I returned on 30th December and visited Immigration at the start of January to get a 'current TM30 receipt' and also get another reentry permit.

At reception I should have just said that I wanted the reentry permit and see what they said. I probably made the mistake of mentioning the TM30 receipt first.

The reason for asking for a new TM30 receipt was based on advice given to my resort manager who was told (by Jomtien Immigration) that he needed to submit a TM30 for returning residents - and then I had to take a print of that report to Immigration to get a new receipt.

If Jomtien Immigration have now stopped that nonsense I will be very happy.

I don't see it that way.

    Debate over what.

If someone wants a pink ID card then obtain one.

    It's not an exclusive group.

If someone does not see any significant advantage is having a pink ID then fine.

    Topic DONE.

    To each their own.

    Just a puffing chest thread.

So to be fair tell me how the card would help me living here for 10+ years

Many that have been posted are rubbish.

Please don't tell me ...renew TDL (dose not work) previously did.

Deal with bank, domestic airline travel, etc etc

    My pp does the trick.

I have purchased few properties...I used my pp.

Open bank account ...won't even justify that nonsense with reply.

Pink card of no use. Now requires COR

So give me one example of when I need it.

You are right, you don't need it. The pink card has never been anymore than a 'nice to have '.

But, these threads always turn into a p!ssing contest; those who love the card will try to convince others that you are more 'integrated' and accepted if you have one.

Those of us who don't have the pink card (and do not desire one) will continue to yawn and use our Thai driving licences to check in at hotels and get the Thai price at Nong Nooch Gardens, Supatra Land etc, etc.

Been getting this on several sites (Lazada, Shopee etc) I have used and never had an issue. Comes up saying they have notice irregular activity or such and tick a box saying I am not a robot. Then get presented with the picture puzzles where you have to select stairs, traffic lights, bicycles etc. Its not a huge problem but annoying and made me think maybe there is an issue or tracker or something on my computer, though I have AVG virus installed and do regular scans. I do use a VPN sometimes but only seldomly and these picture puzzles come up when the VPN is off or not used for some time. Lazada particularly asks for verification every time I log on now. Anyone have any ideas? Seems odd

I am afraid I don’t have any ideas; but I did think it was only me getting these messages - I am pleased to know I am not the only one.

I will take more notice of which sites are affected.

It is effective as well as the gel and I found it a lot less side effects than the pills. it just doesn't last that long

I found it effective over a weekend - similar to my experience  with Ciallis.

OK.....my obvious next comment is "how do you think you own them".

Apologies @GarryP I am not trying to interrogate you, just establishing the facts. As far as I was aware you cannot own anything (condo excepted) jointly or any other way. -  have I missed something? (it wouldn't be the first time)...

I realise that, but previously the application form had space for dependants travelling with. So they got their own visa in their own passport but their application was dependant on the parent/guardian so only one application form.

I don't believe that there ever was 'one application form'. One person, one application.

But I have been wrong before and will stand corrected.

That's the change from  8 years ago. Now you have to upload the documents to India, last time we just took them with us.

If our granddaughter comes with us, does her application still go on my wife's application as she's a minor, or is everything replicated again in a separate application?

I believe that every application is individual....but there will obviously be a lit of cross referencing to the parent/grandparent.

They need their own passport, so they need their own visa in it. Another £120 unfortunately :saai:
