  1. Yeah, Beach Road will be shut down from 26-5 afternoon for at least 18 hours.

The route goes from Beach Road, South Pattaya Road, 2nd Road/Thappraya, Jomtien 2nd Road, Sukhumvit.

The entire happening including roadblocks should be over with around 9 a.m.

Just noticed that it will be on 27 and 28 May

Really? Did you get a receipt? The underground car park is normally free for cars for at least 3 hours and I've certainly never paid to park in there. Charging for parking is definitely not the way to attract customers.

    Really!!

Parking a motorbike has never been free; THB 10 per hour.

And I think that parking a car cost as well; HOWEVER there's a machine where you can have your parking card read and then it's free.

The machine is parked on the 2nd or 3rd floor near the sports outlet.

Why do you live with them!

Probably because he's not living at/near/on a roundabout.

There's more in Thai life than taking roundabouts.

Besides that, most Thais but most foreigners as well don't know how to 'take' a roundabout.

In most Western (read: European and the UK) countries there's no uniform way.

  4. It's not only the roundabout that has gone; the cause for the roundabout, the sewer-works in the connecting road between 2nd Road and Beach Road, have finished.

So that adds another entry and exit to the T-junction making it a full-blown road-crossing and that's too much to handle for a test-roundabout.

I'm not American, but I learned from visiting that they always serve BIG portions. That breakfast would get a few American's complaining. Good if you're on a diet though...

It's wet, slippery, fat and unhealthy..........and wherever you order it in Thailand...it opens up opportunities to complain, so in brief: It's a great American Breakfast.

  6. Went to FL yesterday and as always I started with a quick meal at TL.......chicken curry Indian style with rice for 94 baht.

TL takes about half of the total surface of FL and the product range is almost as at the Central Pattaya FL.

Only downside is the parking; it may take some walking with your groceries to either your car or motorbike.

  7. For a THB 100k I'll advise the new mayor to tear the marina down.

Will cost me about 10 minutes to explain that AND as a bonus I'll advise him to demolish the greenhouse at Bali Hai as well.

For the remaiing THB 4,900,000 I'll restore Bali Hai to its old glory (apart from the boat-parking of course)

Right on, get rid of the sidings ! The very first time I arrived in Pattaya the bus came down from the roundabout and there, staring one right in the face, was possibly the most beautiful entrance vista that ever existed for any seaside resort ! Just look at it now, is there no-one in the city administration with a sense of aesthetics ?

There is........all is focused on the blue, white and grey stones accompanied with the delphins in the tunnel.......so far for aesthetics

What is the purpose of this Underpass ?

Obviously it should allow a smooth trhough traffic from/to the connection of the #7 and Sukhumvit South- and North-bound.

Of course this smooth passing of the Klaang intersection will cause huge problems at the intersection Sukhumvit and South Pattaya, but that will be solved with an overpass.......I guess!!

  10. Mmmm, I thought that not long ago the new City Hall inhabitants applied a new system of routes for Baht buses and strictly prohibited baht-buses to be hired for "private" rides.

I do understand that a lot of destinations are out of the regular routes, but then there's the honest and fair charging taxi-meters, right? :sorry:

They surrounded a Uber car  and forced a Uber westerner paying passenger out of the Uber car although Uber is Illegal in Thailand ! so it wasn't a Uber car it was impersonating a Uber car and Uber driver with a Uber passenger oh confusing Hmmmm

Not really confusing......they surrounded a private car and forced a westerner out of the private car and that's illegal in Thailand.

  12. A few days ago it was predicted that in the period 10-16 May it would be wet.......wetter than usual.

Usually the wet season kicks-off in June, so it's rather early this year.

The underground parking is already challenging at weekends and now that the new, enclosed motorbike parking is on the same level as the car park (and taking up maybe 50 car park spots) with Foodland in the former bottom basement motorbike parking, it can only get worse.

Ah right.......I rode automatically to the 'old' motorbike parking and almost ended up inside Foodland.

Some grumpy security guard said "pai pai!!" and i couldn't find the 'new' motorbike parking.

If that's the entire Foodland......the old motorbike parking + the 10 car-park places on that level....it'll be nothing more than a Tesco Express

  14. After reading your story I can only say.........move out!!

Just a small issue arises: Where to move to?

Especially in Jomtien you won't be able to find a condo that offers the peace and tranquility as desired; construction, pool-sounds, slamming doors, traffic noise...there's always something!!

I was at a newly opened condominium complex yesterday and in the center there's a huge pool with 2 sliding-areas.......the pool was packed with kids and I wasn't envying the people who "enjoyed" the pool view.

  15. Did have a burger at Carl's last week.

The burger and the fries were great.

Only little issue: They played christmas carols as back ground music.

I notified the manager who rushed to his laptop and suddenly it was silent.......
